Haha, freaking sick. Everytime I think well, at least I won't get roped into hacking another game, the community revives itself around a new possibility. This looks fucking awesome, been waiting for this since '02 haha...amazing work, dude.

After my computer committed seppuku, I've recovered and decided to make a Metroid hack due to Interdpth's release of that Double Helix editor for Zero Mission and Fusion.

I've tried to do this before with Super Metroid, with ill effects. SMILE hates me, I can't figure shit out, bladda blah. This time I'm trying Zero Mission.

So I think the best way to start this hack is to set out what I WANT to do and then design it around what Metroid hacking veterans tell me I can do. The list here is a collection of things I want to do; please tell me whether or not it's even possible. I don't know how to do any of these things and when I need to know I'll ask, but until then, I want to know if they're even doable.

1) New power-ups (a new beam, for example, or the grapple beam)
2) Splitting the effects of some (hi-jump boots and ball jump, varia suit and acid resistance) into two items
3) Making a new form of painful block (superacid or something)
4) Adding bosses/enemies
5) Music insertion, like from other Metroid games
6) A locked door system where certain rooms have to be found, ala Fusion
7) More rooms added to worlds than previously exist
