So, after much doing of stuff, I finally finished World 1 of my hack, Yoshi's Island Remix. I originally posted this thread on Acmlm's Board version whatever, but now that this one's up I'll redo it.

So, here are the screenshots:
1-1: Sunshine Forest

1-2 Ski Lifts on Fire

1-3: ZOMG!!!

1-4: Cavern Keep

1-5: Maze Land 1

1-6: Thunder Jungle

1-7: Yoshi's Grotto

1-8: Canopy Castle

Well, there's the screenshots, and here's the .ips:

YIR.ips

Enjoy, and thanks a lot!

lespna - I expanded only two areas, the main area of 1-7 and the second room of 1-8. Other than that, I used the original byte level. Also, don't worry about being critical - that's half of why I put it up here. Tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it Also, I'd love to try your game, is it Yoshi's Island or another one?

Woah, awesome. YI hacks are becoming more and more prominent, which is mad awesome because I like YI better than SMW...the Nep-Enut level looks particularly sweet. The only issue I have is my 2-1 looks a bit similiar to your 1-2: it's called "Zoom, Zoom, Zoom!" and it's a platformer level with the same background I'll do my best to make it as different from your level as possible.

Can't wait for the demo

Replied to this on the old board, still think it's mad freakin' sweet.

You have some new screens, though. 6-3, Blaarg's Boiler, looks difficult *shudder* but hell, I'd try it ...

Nice SNN, keep it up dude.

Also, do try to avoid naming your levels like something like ZOMG.

Well, the whole level, pretty much, you're being chased by a Chomp Shark. That's what my sister yelled when she played the level. Later there's one called "ZOMFG!!!" which is similar but a lot worse ^^

@SNN - Mmkay, I'll try to fix that Salvo thing. Thanks, dude.

@Fabio - thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it ^^. I'll try to fix what you pointed out. Also, I use Windhex32 - how does one change starting position, exactly?

Thanks to all for playing. Also, I know the change in scenery is abrupt, but I wanted to try a little of everything. No world has one theme, in fact, I think every world has at least 3 but there is a definite noticable change throughout the levels.

Phoenix - Did you find them? I didn't think I hid the red coins too hard

Man, that's awesome. I wonder if there'd be any way to use it for only a few levels...?

As for the door editor, that's mad awesome, looks totally easy to use, which is the bloody opposite of how SMILE was T_T

I'll get on IM one of these days, Interdpth.

So, a long time ago I came upon a way to insert an entire overworld from one rom into another, but I've forgotten it. Anyone know?

Thanks.

Well, the first one of it's kind. Chances are, by the time I finish world 1, this thread will have long since died a horrific death.

Yes, once again, I'm resurrecting this freaking hack in a last-ditch attempt to finish it. Chances are slim, but not completely gone, so hope for me. I started this way back in 2002, believe it or not. Like, a mad old hack. Some of the old dudes here might remember it, if I've achieved such notoriety.

Well, here's a screenshot of the main overworld. Enjoy...

@Phoenix - O-o Woah, that is some freaky shit...I dunno if I've ever played that hack. Looks familiar...but the name is completely alien to me. Ah well, no harm done. It's not like it's exact

@Hyper - Haha...no, actually, I dunno WHAT it's made of. Obviously the one on the left is a desert, but as for the mountains of world 4, no idea...I'm not there yet ^^;

@Spontaneous - Yeah, I see that...it could be perspective like Slugworth said...I do see how that's weird though.

@S.N.N. - Oh yeah. Um...I don't know why that's there. Lemme fix that...

Thanks for your comments guys ^^

Woah, pretty freakin' awesome. Still learning basic stuff, trying out things and discovering what I can do so far and what I can't...messing with foreground really. Trying to figure out what mini-map tiles are what. Ah well. Great job Interdpth, can't wait for the next release

Not to stray, but I greatly enjoyed the demo of Crystal Island Adventure I played years ago. Great level design, not much (if any) custom graphics from what I recall. Just good clean SMW fun. I should crank that bad boy out and see if it still holds up.

There were quite a bit of custom graphics, but none too flashy, mainly just little rips from SMB3 here or there or some I found on the internet, but yeah, I did use a lot of the original SMW tiles and still plan to. I've replaced the gray cement blocks with the ones from SMB3, but other than that, nothing much really. I liked my previous versions and I'm gonna do this one in the same way.

Dude, those are awesome. I especially like your concepts, what with the super shell protecting and all, that's a really good idea. I hope to incorporate more original SMW graphics into my hack as well - not the entire hack, but a lot of it for sure.

I have a level made out of those wooden tree blocks too
