Special thanks to kuja killer for telling me how to do the Rush Jet modification and to DurfarC for assisting me with changing the Needle Cannon.

I didn't cover the whole song. I think it's okay for now though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlKPb2etigo

I might try to change the noise track a bit, maybe pitch up the triangle wave... hrm. I probably COULD finish it, but I'm on break atm and I'm feeling kinda lazy. There's definitely room for the rest of the song in the rom, so I probs will at some point.

Stage design is NOT final. Expect graphical improvements, I'm definitely adding a background to the ice cave segment and I'm probably gonna fix up the mountains too. They're just a placeholder for now.

oh i meant to say this before but forgot to.

just in case you maybe ever wanted to change the speed at which the energy depletes (it's totally seperate from the part that depelets HP from the bar)

3DF42 for Rush Jet
3DF40 for Rush Marine

default speed is "1E" which is exactly 0.50 seconds.

other examples: 3C is 1.00 second, 0F is 0.25 seconds. etc etc

Oh I see, so one value (the one I changed) is the amount consumed, and the one you're talking about is the time between consuming that much?

I'm a programmer, uh, in training. I have some experience with Visual Basic and C++ and I'm currently learning C#.
ADDON:The reason why I said "maybe not" was because I'm not sure if this program will work well with MP3s, M4As, or other standard music files. I have plenty of those.

Yeah, recorded music is pretty much useless for music hacking unless you plan to cover it by ear.

It's not very hard to get spcs and whatnot though.

Yeah, I might need help with that, unless SPCs are SNES-produced soundtracks.

That is indeed what an SPC is.
You can only use this program to get midis of songs from SNES games, didn't realize what you meant.

Ok so this

is my main project. A while back I stopped ROM Hacking because I didn't know enough to do what I wanted to accomplish. Now though I can through this ROM hack. Here are some screenies

I am making rapid progress but I still don't know how to program music into the game. I know this may be an outrageous request but if there is ANYONE who would like to compose the music and insert it into the game(or however you say that) please do so. I want this hack to be something special and I know for those who have read my posts before I know I say that a lot but I honest to god mean it this time.
Thanks: 32x1000

I took the liberty of adding "[/img]" tags so that we don't have to copy paste these up.

Looks pretty decent so far. I would offer to help but I've been kinda busy lately...

No problem. If you want to fix your post all you need to do is put after the link, like

(again, without the space)

It does look pretty good! You might want to give the roader in the top right that light blue color for its eyes though, and maybe considering adding a little wall to the top of the black segment so it doesn't look weird. But those are just nitpicks, it looks great so far.

Yo 32x1000, you might also want to look at capmusfrm.txt, which you can find with a quick google search.

Now it's almost entirely about the capcom music engine used in MM3-6, but it has a portion which seems to compare some commands from MM2 with commands from MM3. I think there's actually a disassembly of the MM1 sound engine somewhere and I'm pretty sure MM1 and 2 have almost identical sound engines.

I also can't offer much in the way of criticism without playing.

However, your screens look pretty nice. Maybe there's a bit too similar color schemes for Air and Flash man? Quick Man's looks really nice but Wood Man's seems like you might want to change some shading.

All in all the screens look pretty decent!

This looks really neat and interesting! I haven't seen any KA hacks before so I'm glad to see something creative is being done with it. You have a good idea here!

Thanks for the reply! So, last night I messed with the boss doors a bit and went to sleep. When I got back from school and went to take screenshots, I discovered I made the boss doors work! That was the only thing that stopped me from working on Air Man's stage, so I'll start working on that.

Edit: In Air Man's stage, when I delete the Air Tikis they still take up the same area.
So, Air Man's stage will have to wait.

Isn't that because the tiles behind them are still Air Tiki shaped blue areas or something like that?

Just thought I'd show you guys: rock5easily has put up a download for rm5YH. Here's a vid of one of the Wily stages, more vids are on his page. There's a link to an ips in the description.

I've only played a bit so far; the Star Man fight is pretty interesting. I might have to record a playthrough!

Hey people! For a while I've been doing some other things, but decided to come back to ROM hacking one more time!
Just like before I'm using Megaman 3, it's the one I know the most about, and having educated myself on the subject of 6502 asm, I'm really looking forward to this!
So far I've added a DPCM player to the music engine, a song from the game you can listen to Here
All the music will be my own original songs.
And I made one of Puresabe's simple hacks compatible with the US version, one that lets you jump from a slide and keep your sliding velocity, which works very much like the dash in the MMX series.
There's also a couple screenshots, since I'm absolute shit at graphics, I'm taking them from various Capcom titles.

This looks really awesome! Hope to see more, nice composition!
I've decided that I'm gonna try to return to mega man hacking in a few weeks. Probably not going to continue Memento though since it's very buggy and mediocre but I might keep some of the songs and port them over. Thinking about an MM4 or 5 hack.

By the way, does anyone here know what this page by misty on hacking mm2 weapons is saying? I can only use google translate, which naturally is pretty bad for understanding technical documents.

I think I kinda get it now. I assume the "+X" is referring to the X register?
Thank you for your help rock5easily.

Does anyone know how to make the screen scroll faster in MM4? I tried setting the "vertical screen scroll speed" I got from here http://datacrystal.romhacking.net/wiki/Mega_Man_IV:ROM_map#Misc , but it displaces mega man into the screen.

EDIT: Ok, I figured out vertical scrolling, but horizontal scrolling is still eluding me.

I'd take that back when I commented that Rockman 2 Final Mix is good. The challenge went way too far on the wily stages something that elitists play. And people claimed that the music is horrible too which I never actually found out myself what's wrong with the audio department.

I think the big issue with the music is that a lot of it is mediocre and reused, especially in the Wily Stages. The title theme plays for Wily 6, which is fine, but also for part of the ending, and after a while it just gets kinda old. All the later stage themes don't use their triangle waves very well and thus tend to sound kinda empty, as well having kinda similarly sounding instruments.

That said, I do think most of the music is fairly decent and just need a bit more touching up.... with the exception of the Robot Master Defeated/Wily Map theme, which is just not very good at all and gets reused way too much.

I think the Wily Stages are a bit crazy, but not quite as bad as I originally thought... however, their graphics are kinda boring or mediocre, especially Wily 3.

If anything, Final Mix feels kind of unfinished to me. You've got the constant reuse of music, the boss door in Wily 4, etc... at least it tried to be creative, though. Wily 4's ideas were pretty good, even if they weren't handled that well.

Looking at Sophia's website, they don't seem very happy with the reaction it's getting. Well, I can understand that. Maybe they'll make an upgraded version, haha!

Well, if anything, it's always impressive when someone manages to finish a hack, so that's pretty cool. I think it might have been a better trade off to make some of the songs shorter in exchange for that triangle wave, though... The hack is not super amazing or anything, but it's certainly not terrible, and the ideas are definitely cool. Just could be handled better, I think.

I think reusing that song wouldn't be too much of an issue if it'd been a bit less of an odd choice. Maybe he should have only had one robot master theme instead?

I think I might ask Sophia if they'd be ok with me seeing if I can do something with the music.

It's alright if it takes a while. I have the same issue with not knowing any real ASM.

I think the following areas have pretty good tilesets, I would look for more but I'm a little busy:

MMV Crystal Man
MMV Napalm Man
MMV's Fortresses

MMVI Blizzard Man
MMVI Napalm Man
MMVI's Fortresses

MMI GB's Wily Stage 1
MMIV GB's Wily Stages
