Oh, believe me I know about the sprite corruption. I had to start over once before because a bunch of my Red sprites got messed up. But I learned from that and now I keep plenty of backups just in case.

Thanks Mecakoto.

So I was brainstorming as I was drawing sprites yesterday and I came up with a couple ideas:
I was thinking I would definitely include Booster Tower or something Booster related in this hack. I wanted to show a couple things:

1. Snifit 2 stading in front of a bunch of those blue snifit deciding which he should hire as snifit 3. He would be talking to them all like a drill sergeant: "You think You're ready to serve Booster? Do you think you can do the black uniform justice?!?"
2. Snifit 1 hiring Grate Guy and Knife Guy as Booster's entertainers. Of course, Snifit 1 is more professional than snifit 2: "Do you have any previous experience as entertainers?"

As always, questions, comments, and ideas are welcome.

Here's another screen shot for ya:

Green always was the weakest of the group:

Yeah, hopefully I can learn to use the event scripts as time goes by. But for now I'm still working on sprites.

Speaking of which, does this Green dead shot look better?

Thanks a lot Giangurgolo. This will definitely help me with my hack and I'm sure with many other people's hacks as well.

The feet aren't really that big of a deal to me. I might go back and fix them later. But I want to get the majority of the sprites out of the way before I go to little fine-tuning. Hopefully the new 2.1 that was just released will fix some of the sprite errors that occur.

I'm visiting my family for the next two weeks so I don't how much I will be able to get done. Don't expect an update for awhile

I tried out some of the new features and I have to say wow! This is much better than before, and it was pretty good to begin with! You guys are awesome, really.

I do have a question though, can you assign an item a spell animation?

Edit: never mind. I found out how to. Thanks again Gian!

I'll be glad to test your hack again anytime.

Also, Wario is looking pretty good!

I have some questions if anyone has answers:

Do you know how to make an enemy invincible like Bowser is at the beginning? I wanted to replace Bowser with a different enemy at the beginning but I don't know how to make him become invincible after taking a certain amount of damage.

Also, how do you change stuff in the item editing window in 2.1? I can only seem to change existing commands, I can't insert or delete any though. I'm trying to create a thunder bomb but I don't know how to call up the static E! animations and sounds.

One more: At the beginning I tried changing Bowser's sprite to a terrapin sprite at the beginning. It worked, but it messed up some graphics on the hanging Peach sprite when I actually ran the event. How do you fix this?

Thanks Al.
I got the Battle thing down just fine without any problems.
I wanted to be able to add a thunder bomb without changing the fire and ice bombs but I guess you can't without hex editing.
I still don't really get this whole partition thing. I can't really tell which partition to use.

Okay, this is really annoying...
There seems to be some weird errors with some of Mallows sprite molds. Every time I edit them, save them, exit out of LS, and then come back, the mold I edited is screwed up, along with some minor errors on molds I didn't edit that session. I don't know why it does this or why it only happens for certain molds.
Anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

I wanted to do this with LS and from what you've said, Al, it sounds like hex editing makes the rom incompatible with LS so I probably won't do any hexing.
But it's only some molds that seem to be irreparably glitched, so I could probably just work around it by adding and subtracting some molds and fooling around with event scripts a bit.

Speaking of event scripts, messing with them can be very confusing and very dangerous so I'll probably just leave the events mostly intact and only tweak minor things as I need to.

As far as story goes, here's what I was thinking. Bowser and Mario are off somewhere else fighting each other or something so they won't be in this game at all. This will be Smithy's first attempt at world domination. He comes down, has his minions scope out the land, and plans the destruction of the star road. After you defeat him, he leaves back into the sky and Exor the first is destroyed, and Bowser comes home, finds a gaping hole in his castle and says, "what the **** HAPPENED!?!?"
Just a few ideas. Nothing is set in stone yet.

I understand that. When I add stuff I'll just change or delete existing scripts.

Thanks bradzx.

Holidays have kept me pretty busy with visiting family and whatnot so I haven't gotten a lot done. I will probably be unable to do much until after next week.
I have been able to do a little bit though. The Bowser battle at the beginning has successfully been replaced by a koopa captain by the name of Torte. What did you think he did before he became a chef?

Yeah, Torte is German for "cake."
What can I say Shadic? It was a good idea.

Like I said, the holidays have kept me busy with family and such. But I head back up to school tomorrow so I'll be able to get back to work starting Monday afternoon.
Thanks for continued support, everyone.

SMPRG is my favorite video game and the Axem Rangers are my favorite characters from that game.

To Steyiak:
The levels are different but there is the same amount of experience to get in this game. The max experience to get is still 9999, if that makes sense to you.
You'll definitely be well above level 28, but you might not be level 48, but you will be pretty close.

To Waddler:
I was playing this and I noticed that Mario's jump doesn't seem to get stronger like it normally does. The 1 more to base damage for every 2 jumps (or whatever it is) seems to be gone in this version, but it was present in your previous versions.

Good news!
I've finally gotten back to working on this thing "full time." (When I'm not busy with my college stuff)

Since the newest version of LS allows for battle animation sound editing, it looks like I will be able to follow through with my original idea of including ax-type weapons for each ranger. But with the limited space available on the ROM for animations and whatnot, I'll have to replace a weapon for each ranger. Red doesn't really need to use shells to attack anyway, right?

Another idea I came up with was changing the names of some of the enemies. Maybe even replacing enemy names with people's usernames on this site. Toss me an idea for a name and if it's good it will get included. Also, if your username wows me I might name an enemy after you.
I already thought about changing the names of those ninjas in the Factory to Shadics...
Also, I was thinking of calling the red dragon enemy that the Box Boy enemy summons Fenrir...

Lazy Shell works for me and many others so I doubt if it's Lazy Shell's fault.
If nothing in Lazy Shell is working at all, it is probably a problem with your ROM.
Is it a .smc file? Is it the correct ROM?
It is always possible that the ROM you're using got corrupted somehow. My only advice is to try again with a fresh ROM.

As far as what ROM to use, it should work with any SMRPG ROM.
As far as I know, the only way to transfer work between ROMs would be to use Lazy Shell's importing and exporting features, but if Lazy Shell isn't even letting you access the sprites, levels, or scripts menus, then I guess you wouldn't have access to those.
I guess you could always create an ips patch of what you have so far and apply it to a clean ROM, but if your ROM is corrupted, I don't know if that will do any good.

Sorry I can't be more help than this. I do feel your pain, though. I once had to start over a great deal of work when I first started my hack because of random out-of-the-blue corruption.
