I want a guitar where the whammy bar actually works, and has a good sound, so after reading all the reviews I decided to create my own set:

- Squier® Quilted Top Deluxe Strat Electric Guitar (supposedly almost as good as the real thing...)
-Fender Deluxe Electric Guitar Gig Bag
-Vox Pathfinder V9168R 15w 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp
-ProLine FretRest Guitar Stand
-Fender LX-12 Chromatic Tuner
-Fender ElectroVolt 1/4" Instrument Cable
-Fender Super Bullets 3250R Regular Electric Guitar Strings

this will cost me about $520... About how much I initially planned on spending before today...

I *think* that's everything I need/want... If I'd need anything else, please enlighten me about it, as I'm not sure what it is...

anyway, from what I hear, that stuff should perform awesomely at a great price. Great, authentic Fender sound, and a whole set of goodies for the same price as the mexican strat alone.

is that good bang for my buck there, because it will take me a-while to save up the cash.

But I think that if I get this guitar, I will have to lose my virginity to it... and sleep with it every night.

I hear it's quality is on par with the Mexican standard strat, which is totally awesome at half the price!

and for a little more, the guy at my local music store who I'm friends with can tweak it to make it awesome!

practice every day.

this season it's track and field, though I only do the track part. I run long distance.

I also wrestle in the winter (and snowshoe, though this year I didn't wrestle), and run cross country in the fall.

in between seasons I run with a few other guys. Sometimes I go to the gym and lift, I'm small but still pretty strong for my size (and a hell of a lot tougher than I look...)

over the summer I also plan to run. And if fingers count, I play guitar ;-).

I'm in shape, but not very muscular. I have a thin, very wiry build. Thats why when I plan to flirt with girls, I wear long sleeves to cover up my wimpy looking arms -- try to get them more focused on my good points -- although it hasn't helped any.

so yeah, back on topic. I run. A lot. Probably a lot more than 5 miles per day. My fastest 5k times so far are 20:03 (on foot) and 32:?? (on snowshoes).

I think I can beat both those times now though. the snowshoe 5k course at empires was mostly uphill (UGH) and I had to walk a lot of it.

I can definitely break 20 minutes on foot though. My goal is to run 3 miles in about 16 minutes, and than beat that. I'd really like to get down to 15 and/or 14 minutes and be (or be very close to) the leading pack. Maybe my senior year... or maybe not. depends on how much I want to train...

whoohoo.

I don't know how long I can hold off before losing my virginity to this baby. She's all mine now.

I went to Guitar center, and tried out only a few models (I knew what I was looking for)

and instead of coming home with a cheap korean made squier, I came back with a USA made, silver maple tonewood, black godin freeway classic.

I bought it used for $250, and it is an awesome guitar. The only things it's missing is a tremolo bar, and one of those thingies you use to put on a strap (I'm getting that fixed soon) And it's still in showroom condition! I thought it was brand new when I picked it up!

if anyone has an idea on how to (safely) make a makeshift attachment to hold on a strap, help is certainly welcome.

anyway, this thing has a sexy sound to it -- maybe it's no fender american deluxe, but hell, it's the greatist thing ever compared to my crappy $25 acoustic. 2 humbuckers and a single coild pickup (all godin made) allow me to go from heavy metal sounds to classic rock or blues quickly (with help from my amp of course)

I got a soft case, a strap (that I can't use. Argh. strings, a tuner, and a 15W crate amp.

in the end, the guitar and accessories cost a bit less than $500 (about $450 or $475)

after trying out a squier, this thing is DEFINITELY higher quality.

any comments are welcom.

To be honest, it looks a lot like a strat, but sounds too different to be just another strat copy.

sure, you can (roughly) mimic the sound of a strat with an amp/tone adjustments, but the H/S/H configuration and godin made pickups have a ton of tones that sound nothing like a strat as well.

also, as you can see in the picture (my avatar...) the wings are a bit lighter. This thing is WAY out of the league of guitars like peavy raptor, and even squier's standard strat.

from what I can hear/feel, this guitar is great. I love it. If you come across one of these babies you should definitely give it a try. I give it a 10/10. Action is great, sound is great, finish is great, and quality materials/workmanship are all present. For it's price (especially used) it's an amazing guitar.

as for 7 strings -- what do you use the 7th for? just power chords? I've heard they're good for metal (I mostly play rock/classic rock). Is it the same actual string as the sixth string, or do you have to buy special strings? To be honest, I've never played a 7 string. But I HAVE played a 12 string... once...

being 16 wasn't much fun.

nothing new/interesting happened to me (and hasn't since I was 10 or 12), and I was pretty much alone the whole year. It flew by, and I didn't get to enjoy it. Makes me sad.

I wanted to make some actual progress in my life in the passing year, and 28 minutes isn't long enough now, so I guess I failed completely and utterly there.

I want new adventures to begin and old curiosities to fade away with this new year in my life, though I doubt it will happen. I will try again though, I always do...

anyway, it's officially my birthday on march 16th in less than a half hour. I'm sick, I'm alone, I'm tired, I don't want to go to practice tomorrow, and I've already gotten my present (a nice electric guitar [godin freeway classic] an amp and accessories, as well as a class ring I'm getting)

maybe I'm setting off my 17th the wrong way. I don't know, but hey, what can I do?

sorry if this is spam, I just felt like posting it.

View the flag! made 100% by me and the Gimp

well, in global history class, I had to make a flag and a set of laws for a fictional country.

Well, I decided to add some humor to my flag as well. I added in borat as a special feature.

overall it took somewhere between 1.5 and 2 hours. Most of this time was just experimenting with colors/gradients, and finding out how I wanted things layed out.

I printed it out, taped it to a pencil (to look like a real flag) and voila.

I can't wait to see the look on people's faces tomorrow (also my Bday!)

I didn't and that was pretty much the problem. I'm trying hard to be a different, arguably more effective person this time around.

I have specific goals as far as progress goes, but for me they are pretty steep. Hey, at least I'm better off now than I used to be. I'm moving up in the world!

My 17th birthday was honestly the worst I can remember, to be honest.

EDIT: Oh yeah, happy birthday regardless.

yeah, mine was boring. I went to school, came home (practice was canceled due to weather), practiced guitar (for hours) and now I'm gonna go to sleep soon.

Posted by Kernal
I was 17 in 2004 and 2005, the two worst years of my life.

I'm not sure if this is true, but supposedly your percieved life (assuming a normal lifespan of 70-ish) is half over before you're 10 years old. Now that's scary.

I've experienced the time speedup phenomenon, and most people I talk to have also. I remember a time when a month seemed like a year, and a summer was eternity. Now, 2004 feels like last week.

yeah, I can believe that. I feel the exact same way, and I remember wording it the same way once before too.

I honestly think it's just our minds getting used to time passing. If you think about it, passing through time is sort of like swimming. At first, your muscles are weak and undeveloped, so it takes a long time to get from place to place, than, as you become stronger, you also become faster.

I also think it has to do with the amount of (positive and negative -- but mostly positive) events that happen around you. The more negative events (or just nothing) happens, I feel my time was wasted. Time just seems to go faster that way, especially if I waste it alone.

Being 17 also means one more thing -- I'm one of the few 17 year olds whos never even come close to dating someone yet. Hell, I've never done ANYTHING with the opposite sex, and when I hear about 12 yr olds getting bjs I get mad, jealous, disgusted, and depressed all at the same time. I try man, it's just that girls aren't attracted to me, and I don't know why!

anyway, hopefully this year will be better, but I doubt it. I'm getting depressed again, so I'm gonna finish this post.

Yeah I knew it was cut off in various places -- I didn't put much effort into the picture itself.

Most of the time I spent was with creating a layout -- besides the fact that I am terrible at graphics in general. I have no artistic (aside from musical) bones in my body.

the whole idea was to look like whoever made it was high on acid at the time it was created. Thats why it has psychedelic (ugly) colors. I'm known for being a comedian, not an artist.

anyway, it was rather funny. And people talk about Borat because it is a funny movie. I'm sorry if it offends some people -- racist jokes should unite us all in that we should all be laughing together -- That and I have a very unique sense of humor.

I'm curious what you guys get at www.iqtest.dk. Even if it's not truly accurate to an IQ test, it's still fun to do.

I scored 101. Funny, because honestly, as a child I scored over 130 (I think about 145) on an actual test from a psychologist.

I find that this test relies overly on visuals and logical thinking as opposed to other, social, mathematical, and reasoning elements key to someone's IQ.

On the Tickle test I got "Visionary Philospher" with 150 -- easy test (you can cheat too, theres answer keys to it out there...)

Also, I stopped to watch TV several times during the www.iqtest.dk test, and just started clicking things towards the end -- which both probably had a negative impact on my score.

I stole a Ferrari if that counts. I had a stolen corvette before it, but the police started to catch on so I drove it off a cliff and into the river

in all honestly, I need a car. But I don't have the money, nor transport to a place I can work. It's an eternal loop, sadly. I need money to get a car, and a car to get money.

unless I can find someone to carpool with, that is.

I don't have any pictures of myself with any girls...

come to think of it, I've never been with any girls. I honestly am now thinking I just don't know what to do.

Hell, I don't even know how to make friends -- even though I (used to) have a lot. They sort of gravitate to me.

I wish I knew how to take an "in school" or "in [insert place here]" out of that [insert place here]... If I did, I'm sure I could get any girl I want.

I'm starting to think this for several reasons:

1) A friends gf from out of town said I was cute. It was the first time in my life I had heard it. Although he told me, not her.

2) The guys were picking on me because I can't get girls, and a girl they brought over said "he can get a girl if he wants"...

so apparently I can?

3) This is going to be very shallow and make me look like a biggot... but I think I look better than most of you in the pictures... I used to look a lot like the other two -- then I thinned out my eyebrows, gained weight, and my facial structure changed.

it's an opinion any way. And if it makes you feel better, I have sooo much hair below the belt it's not funny. I don't think you could tell my ass from a chimps. I'm going to have FUN explaining that one to a girl someday...

also, if it makes you feel better, I've never even held a girls hand, and you have girlfriends (

anyway, now I'm back to square one.

I've been searching the net all over for sites related to starting relationships, but sadly, there is no gamefaqs.com of realtionships. I don't even know how to make friends with the girl let alone ask for more...

I mean, I can talk to someone in school/at work/anywhere else, but I have no idea on how to continue it after that moment. I don't know how/when to say something to the extent of "We should hang out sometime, what's your #?"

I have 0 social skills. I blame it on my childhood, but blame will not help me answer my questions...

Now, I'm pretty sure these are pretty standard mods in the guitar world, but googling does not lead me to anything. (probably because they are so basic)

My guitar (as seen in my avatar) has a fender/wilkensin vintage style, non-locking trem.
I want to float the thing. I tried loosening the springs - obviously I went out of tune, as to be expected, but I probably didn't loosen enough or something. The trem stayed flat to the body. I don't care about tuning instability, there are some "tricks" to help stay in tune, and I'm not pulling any vais (until I get my next guitar with locking trem).

I just want it so I can do up-bends with the whammy.

Also, I heard somewhere that you can loosen/remove the middle screws by the trem saddles, and it will work more like an American Standard bridge. I don't expect wonders, but I do want to try it. Do I just remove the screws or what?

I'm sure there's a site somewhere that documents these things, so a link there would be helpful.

Although if someone here could explain it to me, that would be just as good .

OK, I have it all setup and running great, and firefox is equipped with torbutton.

I know it works because I was sent to a german google (no more googling for me I guess... Always preferred yahoo anyways...)

anyway, lets just say I know my ISP is/was watching what was going in/out of my network... How much do these utilities block them from seeing. I want them as blind to my actions as possible.

privacy is a right in the US (where I live, despite the IP, it's a proxy now form denmark or germany or something...) And I intend to stay 100% private...

are images/files I download also kept hidden from prying eyes?

can my ISP still see all of this?

trust me, the staff are incompetent and won't be able to decrypt the data, I'm just making sure they're only getting encrypted info.

I want my downlaods/surfing to be anonymous. With torbutton and firefox, I should be good to go, right?

that worked nicely darkdata, I feel like an idiot for not thinking of it myself.

but that still leaves me with the question of am I being watched? I have data that I intend to hide. What set off my ISP was relatively minor.

music and photoshop and... others... aren't cheap if you get my drift...

I want those eyes off me. I guess the only way to check is to go after some... non-legal data and see who gets notified/if I get caught?

BTW, my isp is roadrunner. I doubt they can do much if my data really is encrypted and proxied...

I guess to ask in one sweet sentence:

Will my isp still see exactly what I'm downloading?

actually I'm not reall[y into pirating movies, but I have more than enough roms/mp3s to get fined over a billion dollars (or in my case, probably a life in jail, as I'll never afford the fines)

actually, the whole thing started because someone who spent the night decided to watch porn for 10 hours while I was sleeping/not paying attention. See, for some reason the cable company got alerted (probably because that is well over a legal surplus -- and both me and the friend who did it are underage -- I swear I didn't do it though -- 10 hours! Jesus H. Christ thats a lot -- and thats just how long it took him to download...)

I don't really give much weight to that, but I frequent a lot of warez/keygen sites, download MP3s and roms and programs like photoshop. I downloaded a movie once, but the video didn't work at all and it was in german.

Now I don't do these things all the time, but I certainly don't want to be caught with them.

I'm thinking I should just test the waters the easy way and code an app that opens up firefoxand searches for porn on google. That way, if my parents get a call again, I know they're still watching. Although I'd probably get in a mess of trouble this time...

the main resdon this is my concern is because many of the warez sites out there also have porn pics/movies/links on them. Hey, I have my sources that don't give me viruses or spyware, I intend to keep using them.

when my friend did it, it wasn't fun explaining things, especially SOME of that stuff... ehh...

anyway how anonymous do these tools make me?

I also just think I have the right to some privacy. Just because my friend did something weired, doesn't mean I should lose my privacy privileges...

I did so with tor enabled, and privoxy. And just so you know my name is James Weinerschneider and I live in southeast Holland. I am of German and Dutch descent and run a simple dutch bakery.

yeah... we'll go with that...

besides the fact that it could all be speculation. I could be lying and you'd never know. It's actually perfectly legal for me to state that, and what I said cannot be used as evidence.

It's the same law that protects celebrities who admit to underage drinking and other crimes in the pages of magazines/other interviews long after the fact.

As of right now there is no proof saying that I am lying or telling the truth, so this post wouldn't stand as conclusive evidence in a court of law.

Remember kiddies, I can admit to breaking down the London Bridge, but that doesn't mean I actually did, or that the bridge is even broken down. Hell, from the statement, there may not even BE a London Bridge at all...

Loopholes, loopholes.

I may not have all my info right (been awhile since I read up on laws...) but this should be true to some extent. besides the fact that they'd still need more evidence. If someone has that evidence, they wouldn't even need the support of this post anyway, so I really don't care.
