yeah, I screw up and leave stuff out of posts sometimes.

I know it's a lot of work adding in features to the board -- just throwing this out there. The board is, of course, fine without it. It would just be a convenience.

I have a piece of crap steel string guitar. I'm pretty good considering I've only played for like 3 months.

my guitar is hard as heck to tune, and hard to play. I have callouses, but the strings are so taught that it causes bruises on my fingertips every time I play.

Now that I've begun hanging out at a music shop with my friends (one plays guitar, the other plays bass, guitar, and etc) I realize how crappy mine is.

I really recommend getting either power tab (Here) or guitar pro (Here)

they are tab editors -- and many many popular songs are available to download for both of them. Power tab is free, guitar pro isn't. I have both.

Guitar pro also has a digital tuner (you need a microphone for your pc) and converts ascii text tabs to easy-to-read digital tabs.

Theres a $200 Johnson strat I want at the local music store. Problem is I have no $$$. Someone will probably get it before I do.

and BTW, Johnson is manufactured by Ibanez, so its a good quality guitar. Trust me, I've played it.

Cool. Thats good news.

I have to say I'm glad most of the quality posters, and especially, the great staffers (XKeeper, Acmlm, etc) have moved here. The other board is... suffering to say the least. I hurts my heart to see it in such disrepair.

you guys seen it recently? The "new version" of the board isn't even halfway done. Half the buttons say "Don't press yet"...

I love orgasms. Mine are particularily insane. It's like I do a situp workout - my entire body starts to convulse, somewhat, and I get really shivery and tired afterwards, but I feel so good.

How about you lot?

wow, mine are only in my "shaft" thats it. sometimes I can't feel anything at all. It depends how hard I'm trying to get off initially, or whether or not I try to stop it (I can, temporarily, but it ruins the feeling.)

well, I can kind of feel a small jolt in my body, but only sometimes.

I dunno, I've only ever gotten one by masturbation. If I was with a woman, I have no idea what it would feel like/if it would be different...

yup, thats right. tomorrow I'm off to Lake Placid for the games.

I'm in the snowshoe races -- All of them. I already qualified, and I'm going with other members of my local snowshoe club tomorrow.

I probably won't have internet access (no laptop, sadly) so I can't really offer updates. I'll be back either Sunday or Monday (not really sure, last race is Sunday -- the 5k)

all I have to say is that running with snowshoes is 100x harder than just running. Running requires more endurance, snowshoes more strength. I run a 5k in about 20 minutes without snowshoes, with them it's like 40+.

anyway, wish me luck.

In my n00b days... I was an eff-ing retard. seriously, check out my old posts (check out the old backup if you dont believe me here)

btw, some people are still logged in there! (ChibiTaryn, Fyxe, Gamefreak19, KT15X, Videogamerpat) might want to log out now. It's only been like 4 years lol.

anyway, I used to post stupid crap in one, long ass paragraph. I went to the backup to relive it all, and wow, it made me feel so stupid just reading my own posts.

I honestly hope you realize that those people were logged in when the board's archive was taken, and most about three of those people haven't been on the board in years...

sorry, I just had a brainfart there. consider that another n00b moment... though long after I became a n00b.

sorry for being an idiot -- first time in awhile actually.

I was told that you can get this fixed at a guitar shop. I think someone referred to it as "action". It sounds like you have a high action ...thingie....

yeah... my guitar isn't adjustable. I got it for $20 brand new. do the math.

when you have a decent/good guitar, it can be adjusted. I've watched it done before. but not all of them can -- let me rephrase that, not $20 guitars.

like I said, I'm getting a new one soon (in 2-5 months. I need cash!)

anyway, I can play wild-thing (Troggs version) now. Its rather easy. Download a tab -- it's a great song for beginners, using only 3 basic tabs (A,E, and D). The Jimi hendrix version is... a bit harder.

I *did* get new strings, but you see, it's faults in the design of the guitar itself that cause the problems.

when you get guitar strings... all you do is string the guitar. The strings themselves (Unless bent?) provide no customization.

sure there are different varieties of strings (thick, light, heavy, etc...) but aside from that, things like the distance the strings are from the frets are unchangeable. I find that on my guitar, when compared to better quality models, has the strings a greater distance from the frets.

I have light strings on it now.

also, I *could* loosen the strings, and then the guitar wouldn't be in tune at all.

not to mention cheap guitars don't generally stay in tune, and they are more difficult to tune exactly, regardless how good your ear is. They also tend to eventually fall apart, and don't have the same sound quality.

trust me, after playing around with similar guitars to mine, some guitars that are fairly decent, and several that are WAY out of my price range, I can tell the difference.

and its not just me. All my friends also have the same complaints about my guitar.

If only you could see it yourself Keitaro... Too bad I have no camera.

Those dreams aren't that bad...

not long ago I dreamt I was in a building fighting weired dudes -- I think they were aliens. My family was there, too. For like 5 seconds I became Inuyasha (???) then, they were all gone. my dad and sister ran out to our van. I stood there with my mother. We go to the van, and I see them poof into flames. I then say no, and tell my mother to follow me.

I run ahead, down a hill. I have a pistol in my pocket (think I picked it up in the fight earlier) All the sudden 2 FBI agents are chasing me. I think they were both from the X-Files -- one was agent scully. I shot the other one, a guy, and her. Then they both seemingly respawned and I shot the guy, and scully proceeded to question me. She seemed to be on my side.

then my mom catches up, with my sister and dad. And I'm like -- I saw you die! and he's like "no". He then proceeds to tell me things that happened while he wasn't there -- got his story mixed up -- obviously he was watching me at some point, but not my real father. And I proceed to explain that he doesn't have me fooled. Then I woke up.

and THATS a normal dream.

once I dreamt I saw a woman scream in horror as her head was split open with a scalpel. Scared the SH** out of me.

and, for some reason, I often dream that I wake up, and know that I'm still in a dream. I think to myself, oh shit, this is a dream. And sometimes I have sleep paralysis in this state. It always terrifies me, and is usually an exact or very close replica of the room I fall asleep in, although it rarely is outside of there. Sometimes people in the dreams try to convince me it's reality after I say "this is just a dream..." to them...

from research its called lucid dreaming. And it is annoying as all heck. Sometimes it happens to me several times in the same night. I think overloads of negative stress cause it. See, I have no positive stress relief.

anyway, when I'm in this state I have to focus on something so totally -- usually a name, and keep thinking it until I end up forcing my physical body awake and start yelling the name in real life. See, in this state, your mind is conscious but not your body.

I've got tons of stories, but even a website like SubCon isn't enough for me. I'd have to write an entire book, and a forum like this isn't ideal for that, so I'll end the post here... unless otherwise requested, of course...

long version:

I really don't have any "projects going" per say.

I'll be joining track in a week if that counts?

the only real goal I want to meet right now is to get a girlfriend. I know it's not the most important thing in the world, but dang, my hormones are raging stronger than EVER now. And I'm also rather curious as to how it feels to be in a relationship. Hugging, kissing, etc. All that stuff I've never done and easily get jealous over for some unknowable reason.

I'm learning to play guitar better too. I can play a few songs, like wild thing. I need to save up a few 100 bucks for a new guitar, amp, and distortion pedal.

I keep on trying to start a programming project, but I just can't do it. I don't *want* to be programming. I've spent enough of my life in front of a PC. I want to go out and live life -- but I don't know what to do or how to do it at all.

short version:

I have no real projects right now.

I was at a party at 12 AM. Went up to the girls' room with the other guys and hung out (nothing happened... I was there, and If I'm there there is no action. Its a rule plus they have boyfriends) Then at about 1:30 we got told to go to sleep, but we didn't and got pizza. Then we went to sleep.

I woke up, cleaned the hotel room. Brought my stuff out to the van. Went and ran a 5k in snowshoes (damn, that was a tough race... Too many hills). Waited for the awards ceremony to finish, even though I didn't come close to winning. The ENTIRE NATIONALS TEAM WAS THERE for Christs sake, no one from our team stood a chance in hell of coming close to them.

then we went home, I slept for the (about) 1.5 hour ride from lake placid, got home, at salsa+nachos, yelled at my mother to stop treating me like I'm 5, lied down, got up, played guitar, went to sleep, woke up at like 12. Got on the computer, and here I am.

Its 3:06 AM here, and I have school in 4 hours and about 40 minutes. I don't want to go, and I don't want to stay home.

As a matter of fact, I wish I was someone else at this point in time.

please leave a message after the beep.

My code looks like:

int main(){
//code goes here
if(2+2 == 4){
printf("mooraidians rocks\n");
}
else {
//more code
}
//even more code
return 0;
}

although I couldn't use tab for formatting, so I had to guess using only the spacebar .

I know, but the edit feature isn't here yet...

int main(){
//code here
if(2+2 == 4){
printf("mooraidians rocks\n");
}
else {
//more code
}
//even more code
return 0;
}

The more I nest code, the deeper the indentations go... at least until a certain point (I have never reached this point yet).

Nesting becomes useful as a (very very limited) replacement for hyperthreading in some areas. Using do while loops for this is possible, although it slows down code immensely probably increases memory consumption (never checked), is less efficient, and less powerful as hyperthreading, but is still a viable option for some applications.

I've used such nesting for taking input before, and also for analyzing events.

I was just wondering why none of the original (arguably more mature) acmlmboard wasn't used...

Acmlm should have the rights to use the code, and I know that acmlm.cjb.net has copies of it lying around...

Wouldn't it be easy to just add in a few database tables and copy/paste code from it?

from what I can see, this board is written completely from scratch, and shares little/no code with the original one. To me, this just seems inefficient.

I know the other board had memory issues, but implementing a few features from it shouldn't make this board any more demanding on the server...

I'd consider myself a beginner-intermediate hobbyist. I'm flat out broke now, and am looking for a job.

the first $200-$250 (maybe a bit more, but unlikely) I get is going to a new guitar/amp/bag.

I happen to know a place where I can get a squier strat pack for $199, and I'm not looking for the greatest workmanship in the world here. Hell, my friends Acoustic guitar from target is higher quality than my current (piece of crap) $25 acoustic.

let me rephrase that -- I got a bag (zipper broke), strings (all steel - they rusted), a pick (unevenly thick in some parts, pickguards (looked bad, so I didn't use them), and the guitar itself -- all for $25 brand new.

it was crap -- about as crappy as they get. Even with my callouses, I still get blisters from playing it.

anyway, everyone I know (coach, friends, etc.) recommends this squire affinity strat, and at $200, it's a deal I can afford within the next 5-6 months (need to get a job, then I'll have the cash in about a month).

my birthday is soon, and I'll probably get like $50 (my family is poor, so wouldn't dare ask for $200, even on my birthday)

If I start getting really good, and I start playing at gigs or in a band, than I'll get a real standard strat -- or an American Deluxe if I have the cash. But right now, It's only me and a few friends.

Even If I joined a band (I might be in one already technically -- I was invited) It'll be one of those high school garage bands, so nobody will expect a master crafted guitar to be in my hands.

from other people in my situation, I see definite positive reviews on this guitar -- professionals obviously don't give it such appraise.

either way, the workmanship runs loops around my current guitar. Listen, on any AND I MEAN ANY other guitar, I can play barre chords (such as F), but on mine, I just can't.

people who have played their whole lives have trouble with my guitar -- but my perseverance with me had benefits -- It made me a better guitarist.

so what do you guys think? squier or no? why?

I'm really still pushing towards the squire package due to price, and the fact that I love the fender strat sound.

I might buy that other set though -- along with the gibson epiphone if I do. But chances are I'll get the squier.

now, is the fat strat any better? Because I can get an affinity fat strat for the same price... I just really don't know the difference at all.

Meh... Playing Guitar Hero is nothing like playing a real guitar. It's just a bunch of button presses. Playing a real guitar is far more fun, and playing songs in an actual rock band with an electric guitar is even better.

as much as I agree with you (playing guitar for real is awesome), I have to say that this game is all about the fantasy.

hell, on guitar hero, you can "play" songs that easily outclass your skill. This game allows non-players to live that fantasy if only for a second.

I play a real guitar (and am downloading Frets on fire to try it out), and I'm saving every penny to get a new guitar right now (check my thread in modern art...)

anyway, if guitar is your fantasy, I really recommend actually trying to learn.
