I wanted to be BOLD enough to play Legend of Link in NES emulators other than FCEUX/Nestopia/Nintendulator on my PC and I have found a few of them that can handle the game very well.

Mesen v0.9.7 (bug fixes with MMC5 started with v0.8.1, i think):
https://github.com/SourMesen/Mesen/releases/tag/0.9.7

puNES (NES) Emulator v0.1.03 released a few days ago:
https://github.com/punesemu/puNES/releases/tag/v0.103

this one contains crucial mapper MMC5 and 213 bug fixes that make Legend of Link run correctly in puNES as v0.1.02 & earlier could not properly run the game.

puNES (NES) emulator v0.103 released several days ago:
https://github.com/punesemu/puNES/releases/tag/v0.103

important fix listed in the changelog for v0.103:
-Fixed mapper MMC5 and 213

this new version of puNES should be able to run the Super Mario All-Stars NES game correctly as well with the latest version of Mesen:
https://github.com/SourMesen/Mesen/releases

I wanted to be brave enough to run Super Mario All-Stars NES on other NES emulators beside FCEUX, Nestopia, Nintendulator, etc.

I'm gonna copy my response from the SMW Central forum:

great job, Renegade X135.

though I found one problem with your translated e-reader cards but none of them are related to the unreleased level cards.

the problem - the 100up mushroom card can only be scanned once per game and cannot be reused or scanned again, otherwise the message "this card has already been scanned" will be shown. CaitSith2's version of the 100-up mushroom powerup card can be scanned repeatedly and can be used many times in any game.

great work Renegade.

though I wish there was a way to convert the BIN files you made into .level format so I can easily insert the world-e levels using sma4savtool.exe.

It seems to be so tedious to add each e-Reader levels one-by-one with no$gba and having to save each one.

I don't know if XAIXER and Kiiro provided any docs on how to make the conversion from .bin to .level (or vice versa) with Solar Magic Advance

Hello, infidelity. Can you fix Super Mario All-Stars NES to work on any emulator, please?

what kind of NES emulator are you using, Vallenatero2020?
it may be next to impossible for infidelity to make his hack work on other NES emulators due to the complex nature of his hack. it would be up to the creators of other nes emus to update their emulators for proper support (don't bother with byuu's higan multi-system emulator since that one won't run Super Mario All-Stars NES at all)

If you are using a Linux or Ubuntu based OS, use either Nestopia UE or Mesen

For those using a Microsoft Windows OS, use FCEUX (official or recent git/svn nightly builds), Nestopia UE, Nintendulator, puNES or Mesen

I went ahead and beat the game with the wooden sword since I was already so far along. The Ganon fight was interesting to say the least. :3

Just to see if I could duplicate the bug, I started a new save file, and as soon as I beat the first three dungeons, I went for the master sword. This time, I could grab it, no problem. Maybe it just didn't like me the first time. Or maybe if you have too much equipment, it spazzes out or something.

I am playing "The Legend of Link" for the first time and have replicated this situation (hack version: v12-23-18).

If you beat Ganon in the Light World (Skull Dungeon) and haven't yet picked up the master sword, you cannot pick up the master sword; returning to that spot and pressing 'A' has no effect. However, beating the first three dungeons and then going for the master sword works as expected.

I have Nestopia save states for both situations, if anyone is interested.

Problem also confirmed on latest FCEUX git/SVN nightly build (and possibly other NES EMUs like Mesen, puNES & Nintendulator) as the Master sword becomes un-collectible after beating the 1st skull dungeon in the light world with only the Wooden Sword. Definitely a bug with the game itself.

Edit 1/21 - Also not getting the master sword after beating Ganon in the 1st Skull dungeon will not only prevent the game from obtaining the master sword later on, it will also not allow upgrading to the Tempered Sword (aka level 3 sword), even if having at least 12 hearts on the life meter. the Master Sword is required in order for that to be upgraded to the Tempered Sword as the game won't allow upgrading directly from the Wooden Sword to the Tempered Sword.

well Toucan2 & Chris - since you guys did not get the master sword before clearing the 1st skull dungeon in the light world, you're gonna have to use a cheat code to change your wooden sword into the master sword (I'm not gonna mention that code as you can find it out there on the internet)

I was not able to report these minor bugs with the SMB2J / Lost Levels game from the SMAS NES hack months ago but I'm reporting them now since I recently have time. See these pics:

(says "Hurrah to Mario" but I beat the game as Luigi)

(says "Thank you Mario!" but I'm playing as Luigi)

these seem to happen when loading an existing save that already has "Luigi game" selected as the only option and the game was previously saved in world 8-4.

I know for sure the original SMB2J FDS game does not do this when I beat world 8-4 as Luigi, it should say "Hurrah to Luigi" & "Thank you Luigi!". But for SMB2J in SMAS-NES beating w8-4 as Luigi shows the dialog as seen in those pics

I wonder if this problem will ever get fixed

I have ShaneM's Pokemon Green hack that had all 151 pokemon obtainable in ips. Let me try to upload it.

What I'm missing is the French, German, and Italian version of Pokemon Green.

I'm not sure if these are the same ones that were posted on this Romhacking.net page:

I needed a break from writing my master's thesis, and at the same time, I suddenly came to think of this: Why has no one hacked the NES version of Tetris to include the well known music A from the Game Boy version? At least I think no one has.

Of course, I then had to try to do it myself. The music data was relatively simple so this only took me a couple of hours. It replaces the original NES Music A (Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairy).

Download here

In the future there's a small chance I'll remake music C as well, edit music B to be closer to the GB version and then release it on RHDN, but for now, this is all I can share with you. It's not much of a release compared to 'real' ROM hacks, but I guess it's better than nothing, eh?

Have fun!

download link for this is broken now

I'm very late to the party, but it looks like a cool project. Protoman being a dwarf next to Megaman was the thing that annoyed me the most about this remake. This game definitely lacked polishing.

this person released a hack in early 2022 that "fixes" Protoman's size to be about the same size as Megaman

maybe someday incorporate something like that into the Mega Edition of Wily Wars

hi

any chance of trying to make a full colorized "DX" version of Roll Chan World 5 based on this recent Megaman world 5 DX hack, Zynk?

I think the Roll Chan World 5 game needs a "full color DX" treatment since this recent Mega Man World 5 DX hack came out on Xmas 2022.

the current colors with the Roll Chan World 5 hack are kinda bland to me

I definitely will do this in my hacks (Mega Edition & maybe Classic Fluency as well).... if I can ever get beyond my health problems, lol... oh well.

ok. hope you feel better

btw though unrelated to the topic, there's a full color DX version of Mega Man World 5 GB available on RHDN around Xmas 2022

perhaps ask in the RHDN forum site for an updated colorization tool

or ask marc_max in the RHDN forum on how exactly that person made MMW5 DX

edit 5/24
