Sorry if this has been adressed before, but I've been trying pretty desperately (on SMW Central to no avail) to find out:

is there a way to start Super Mario World without the intro screens and overworld map? in other words, to go straight to the level. I know there's "the level start code" in the ROM Map, but how could I use this to jump to it without any of the other stuff.

I would suppose it is, yes, if you were to change the boot/reset code in the ROM to set up for a level load instead of set up for the 'nintendo presents' screen

Working on the baserom. I've also added in a newer sprites handler I got from smwcentral that'll remove the sprite tile limit, so sprites aren't going to be disappearing.

EDIT: scratch that, I open up the README and about 10 sprites (some of which are nice ones to use) aren't supported. Instead, I'll ask if we can happily do without these sprites:

SOME THINGS THIS IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH:
- Lakitu
- Group of 5 eeries
- Hammer Brother (I think it's the hammers)
- Boo Buddies Ceiling
- Re-Appearing Boo Buddies
- Swooper Death Bat Ceiling
- Koopa kid bosses (except for Lemmy and Wendy)
- Bowser

we're making entirely new bosses anyways

Boos themselves are still usable, just not the ceiling variety, the ghost ship fading ones, or the 5 eeries. The two sprites that would really be a loss are the Lakitu and the "Amazin' Flying Hammer Brother."

Try adding "echo mysql_Error();" after the mysql_query() functon calls, sometimes that happens to my code too; it'll seem to work, yet nothing goes through.

I don't care about the koopas, they were never going to be used. Are you saying that if we use index 00, it'll work with those sprite? Odd, I thought there was some problem with using 00

Can I ask for the information you have on the SPC instrument tables/etc? I'd like to add a specific sample to the SPC, used just once in the game (and so I don't want to use this utility, since that'd increase load times for everything unnecessarily).

Basically, I want to add a sound effect entry in the SPC, without actually adding the effect (this will make no sense to you, but please don't doubt my madness; there is actually a method to it)

As tensions rise and war threatenes to break out, Alernica seals its borders to many nations, declaring itself a hostile-passive nation, prepared to retaliate in full against any attacks, and willing to form an alliance with any nation of any continent.

As the alliance with Marquista went through, Alernica directed its reserve submarine fleet into Maruistan waters as an allied force, requesting that Marquista build a refuelling port for the submarines, and to kindly provide food and water for the defensive fleet. The Alernican military is placed on full standby alert, ready to retaliate against any attack, but hopeful that action will not be nessesary.

Alernica then re-requested an alliance with đất Thánh, and requested another alliance with the USOD.

Hm, when converting a level from normal GFX to custom GFX, it seems I've found some odd behaviour with the line-guided platform sprite- if the MAP16 tiles directly below the horizontal line guide tiles is not 025 (or maybe just page 0), the sprite treats it as an end-of-line tile and reverses direction. Not even 'Act As' changes this behaviour

I'm looking into this more.

EDIT: Looking into this more, I've determined that anything from page zero works fine- and tile 0FF works great as a background tile.
