Wrong, wrong and wrong. You cannot make objects any bigger than they already are, or smaller. Most of the "data" edited in these objects come from tables and actual ASM code.

The only known requirements will be Windows 2000/XP with .NET Framework 2.0, which hopefully means that it will work on Mono for Linux users, but I'm not sure how extensive the support is. I don't use any Microsoft provided libraries outside the standard .NET framework set.

After the initial release of the editor I will work heavily to optimize the editor. Even now the drawing code is sluggish at times on my machine, but that's mostly due to sloppy handling of object movement in a level, the actual drawing is very fast.

I finally have the drawing coding working at a good speed. All I need to do now is implement sprite editing and then implement handling of the rest of the object sets and it'll be ready for beta testing. Of course, I have a lot left to still add (project manager, map editor, sprite assembly editor, etc), but I'm sure a lot of SMB3 hackers are clamering for this editor.

This is what the general layout will be so far. The left and right panels are dockable and can be moved anywhere.

Ah good question! I will include:

Title Editor
Cut Scene Editing (King's Castle, Princess's Dungeon etc)
End Credits Editing
Full Text Editing.

Erm, no stufid, Airship levels are no different from other levels, they obey pointers. If you want a Koopa kid on the other side, youbetter make sure the enemy pointer it leads to has a koopa kid in it!

Ok so I've started to build the sprite engine. For once, an SMB3 editor that reflects graphics changes on the sprite! Im about a fifth of the way through all the sprite displays (loaded from the rom, as always). Here's a quick screen to show. Those who have hacked SMB3 will no doubt noticed the true ugliness of Bowser in a level without a dark background color. So it goes for trying to be accurate lol

Ok, Im going to need beta testers soon. If you're interested please PM and tell me why you'd like to beta test. Requirements for beta tester are:

Must have been hacking for at least 1 year
Must have done some SMB3 hacking, even if it's simple tinkering

I should have the initial beta released within a couple of weeks.

Now this looks really good. It seems you put a lot of thought in this. Proof that you don't need fancy ASM magic to do a good hack. Can't wait to try this out!

I got burned out a little working on my editor, so I decided to work on my hack a little instead. The results? See for yourself:

Yes, Ice Mario is back for this hack and he's better than ever! I will say, getting two flowers in and both fire and ice powers in without getting rid of any other power-ups was quite a challenge. I had to write some very, VERY tricky code

I'm not about to tackle this project on my own. I am about to begin a big SMB3 hack, but I'm going to need help. If you think you have the stuff and dedication, let me know! This is what Im currently needing:

Pixel Artist (namely, sprites)
Level Designer
Brain stormer

Pixel Artist will help create some graphical art and sprites.
Level Designer will help create a few levels
Brain stormer will help come up with really good ideas. I'm not going to accept anyone. Only the best of the best and will show dedication to help out. This will be a team effort with me being the leader of the project and doing the bulk of the work. Just think, you could be associated with the next "Mario Adventure".

Yes, yes I do. Actually, my inspiration to restart a new hack was for the following reasons:

My Editor
Jasp's hack
Mario Adventure's huge attention and Luigi vs Mario's lack there of.

It bothers me that Mario Adventure received so much attention but it suffered from a bad case of SLD (sucky level design). I plan to remedy this with the true Mario Adventure 2.
