If you wanna do this mapper Jasp just talk with me about it on MSN I can help ya through it, it was amazingly easier than I thought it would be. Yeah, graphical effects are one thing, but I'll tell ya the big thing Im thinking of using it for in private. |

Booooyah cherris. See the star meter at the bottom right? As you collect cherries, it fills up. After that, you can generate a star |

MMC5 expands on the sound capabilities but I'm not a sound person. We'll see if I ever get into it though. |

Posted by never-obsolete I hardcoded every bank swap by hand and ran an unaltered version of the hack side-by-side to make sure I was getting to the right banks. |

Well I've been busy for the past couple of days (Mondays-Thursdays = super busy days) so I don't have new material yet, but keep the ideas rolling guys! I have a few things in store but I'll have to keep secret for a while.
Wall-jump: meh, I never liked the wall-jumps tbh mortalkenshi: hex-hacking just means modifying the data without an editor, so ASM in essence is hex hacking (I type the ASM in hexadecimal, straight translation from mind to machine code). Your perception of 2-players not working must be a Mac thing, all major emulators on the PC support 2-player games. SMB3 All-stars is a no go for several reasons. For one, SMB3 All-Stars lacks the tools I use to help my hacking of SMB3. Two: SMB3 All-Stars offers one thing: better graphics. I've expanded the SMB3 ROM to twice it's size so space isn't an issue. I know the current SMB3 engine better than my own body, so that's a bigger plus. Plus, if someone wants to sacrifice their CV3 cart, we can put this puppy on there |

New status bar features. There will be two different "modes" for the left and right status bar. These "modes" will display different information such as play time, experience needed for next skill and other information. I plan to turn this puppy into a RPG-style game. The status bar will serve many purposes in this hack.
Seen here, mode 2 for the left side displays time and a non-working EXP amount. Mode 2 for the right side just shows the same stuff but it's not working (notice the timer shows 000). Somethings go over all modes like the LOW AIR warning. OH YEAH! Notice the cherries increase the star meter on the right side (hard to see cuz of the You Tube water mark). |

Levels completely underwater may not even exist! Or provide air bubbles or pockets of air. |

The flipping I did myself. I was flipping the status bar on purpose to show that no matter what status bar mode you are in, it will display the warning. Status bar flipping is down by holding Left and hitting select for the left side and holding right and hitting select for the right side. |

The mushoom has been changed into an L, it now shows your current level.
I've hacked in the Experience needed to reach the next level, raising levels and display those values. More to come later. |

What you want to look at is $578. Changing that to 2 or above will change the power-up. (2 -> Super Mario, 3 -> Fire Mario, etc etc, 1 -> Small Mario) This will not create the effect of obtaining the power-up but it will switch you to that power-up and change to the appropriate palette. |

I get moody?
Nah, Im not being avoidant, I've actually had a lot on my plate this past month or so with meeting girls, volunteer work, getting a real web development job. I'm not done with this project, just, life has bit me in bottom and won't let go. |

SMB3's TSA data works as so:
all TSA data starts on an xx010 page, the xx is the beginning of a data area. Example: Plains levels are between 0x1E010 and 0x200F, the TSA data for plains levels starts at 0x1E010. The first 0x100 bytes correspond to the upper left hand tiles of every tile. (i.e. tile value 0x45 will get its upper left hand value from 0x1E055). Upper right hand is the next 0x100 and so on. All TSA save for a VERY VERY FEW EXCEPTIONS works this way. The exceptions being dynamically altered TSA when items are activated (blocks, P-switches, coins, etc) |

Also, each value (0-255) represents a 1K division in CHR-ROM. For SMB3, you can only go up to $7F, anything higher just wraps around. Remember though, on the MMC3, only one side of the pattern table can be address by 1K divisions, the other side has to use 2K, thus, only even numbers are valid for 2K divisions. |

I like your graphics style and the levels aren't littered with idiocy. I'm going to like Mario's Destiny 8) |

I wanted to go ahead and announce my new project. After many months of wanting to get back into the scene, I decided it was best for me to do an SMB3 editor that can editor so many parts of the ROM, people will be making Mario Adventure clones left and right (ok maybe not that great of an editor ) Anyways I finally got the very basic NES graphics displaying library in C# complete. The source will be available upon every release so people can work on it if they want, but I plan to make this editor as etensive as time allows me. Just to show I have some progress:
This basically loads the TSA and palette data from the rom along with the graphics. This also loads for expanded roms without any trouble. I plan to keep offsets and stuff in XML so people can create very dynamic hacks and let the editor fit their own needs. Flexibility and power are my goals with this 8) |

Oh yes, this will have sprite editing support like you wouldn't believe Including animation, TSA, properties. I also plan to include a lot of ASM hack plugins |
