thanks messiaen!

Ok guys, I finally got map data to load in the rom:

Gonna get the palette fixed and the start position fixed, along with sprites to load along with pointers to work. Most of the stuff left to do is with the rom

Ok, I'm still working on getting the rom up to speed. As of right now, maps are nearly fully functional. As of right now, you can create a full map with sprites, palette, at any length. I still have to get pointers to work.

You will definitely have to patch the rom before testing it since it uses a brand new level format. Doing so will be painless and quick, however

Wow what a very subpar looking hack.

Woot, quick progress update:

You can enter levels from the map, pointers are partially working. levels load, but the exit action/position aren't coded in yet. Had a fun time with implementing the new pointer system. I will go ahead and say, I had to use a lot of the free data in he hardwired banks but I think it'll be worth it.

Hopefully by this Saturday I'll be ready to do some testing.

Ok, I would suggest looking around these forums to see what kind of standard posts we expect when making a thread about a hack. Your thread and first post say that there is a demo, but there is no link to a demo patch. You're only showing one screenshot. You're not telling us anything about the hack. Please refrain from making any more posts that give little to no information about your projects.

Like I said, try looking at other posts to get an idea of what people expect out of threads such as these.

My map editor lets you place up to 9 sprites on a map and lets you start anywhere on a map screen, along with making a map as large as you want and having up to 16 maps.

As for any bugs you report right now, they will probably get ignored as I've made several fixes that may have included fixing bugs you just reported.

------------------------

Ok, I'm going to make an exhaustive list of things that need to be implemented so that I have a check list and a plan of action. A 1.0 next to an item means it must be finished before 1.0 release.

-Being able to set a level to use the White Mushroom House sprite (enables white mushroom house level to appear after grabbing so many coins) 1.0
-Setting what item is obtained in each sprite induced level (i.e. hammer bros. sprites) 1.0
-Be able to to go to mushroom houses and roulette games from the map 1.0
-Be able to set what items are in a mushroom house 1.0
-Edit title screen
-Edit credits screen
-Edit various text
-Enable a debug build to allow players to quickly test levels
-Disable 2 player mode
-P-Switch time editing
-Starman time editing
-Invulnerability time editing
-Various enemy attributes editing
-Autoscroll mapping and (possibly) autoscroll editing (NOT definite)
-N-Spade card set editing
-N-Spade score required before appear editing
-Various power up attributes editing
-various asm patches (starman time lengthening, custom animation banks editing, etc)

Edit:
-Be able to edit lock and bridge placements on an overworld map
-Edit jump height
-Edit run speed

Note: do not go hog wild at this point making feature requests. If you make a request, please make it reasonable and if I turn it down, do not take it personally.

Actually, the game assumes you're doing a pipe level when you set the vertical option (kind of silly, isn't it?) but that's been fixed. The enemies even load correctly!

At any rate, I finally got level pointers to work. Haven't tested doors yet, but all the pipes work. All this is a crazy task, you don't realize everything involved in making sure the normal SMB3 stuff still works with the new formats.

Things definitely left to do rom wise:
-setting up lock/bridge locations
-fixing starting points for vertical levels
-getting spade card game support back in
-enable exiting levels to different parts of the map
-lots of testing

this is really exciting!

wow... you guys don't really play around with editors. I've had the custom tile layout feature in for about 3 weeks now:

Project -> Layout Editor

This lets you create your own layout of the tiles as seen here

To change the layout, you use the combo box above the tile layout.

Well, there are 3 unused bytes for the level headers, one of those can be used to set the custom music (or the main music byte too). I was going to wait until both of our patches were final before adding support to change that value (which it can right now as Unused 1) as a music selection so I can detect it in the rom.

I'm all about having a positive attitude in life and I want to see who else tries to keep one. What are some things about your life that makes it "kick ass"?

-I have a programming job and I actually enjoy coming into work most days
-I have an apartment full of computer parts
-I have a Wii
-I have a cat that likes to cuddle with me
-I'm engaged
-Someone changed my title to sandwich Artist. That's great lol

I don't want to see any whining and sulking in here. If you get offended by what people put there then gtfo, this is a happy thread >

nice. Ok, what I will basically do is when we have our patches ready, I'll give the option to load an external music list and store the music value as a direct value. We should get together and see where you're wanting to put your asm stuff so that I do not continuously overwrite your stuff. I can clean up my code quite a bit if necessary to free up space.

-Through DreamSpark, I was able to get Windows Server 08 R2 FOR FREE and legally
-Reuben will be done before the end of the year!
-My car hasn't given me any major problems since I've had it (just a dead battery)
-I have a Dreamcast that's just missing a power supply and and a/v output, not hard to find around here

I apologize Oasiz, the build you have is quite old and out dated.

-The tile picker is actually in! if you hold shift and click a tile on the level, it brings that tile into selection. If you double click the "Right Click Mode" it will change it to use both left and right mouse buttons for placing times and each can be set. I can add it for the middle mouse too, but that is currently set for the background tile always and I prefer to keep it this way.

-For selection multiple tiles. Doing this on the block selector would require much recoding. You can alternately double click the "Right Click Mode" so that it's in "Selection" mode and use the right mouse button to select multiple tiles on the level area. Then you can use Ctrl + C to copy the selection and Ctrl + V to paste the selection. If you create a new selection and press Ctrl + V, you will paste the copied tiles as a pattern into the selection you just created. This can be used to make long pipes or ground areas quite easily.

TSA Editor:
-Noted, I've known about this bug but I've kept putting it off. Will take care of it tonight

Level Editor:
-The button you refer it will be a scatter draw tool. Still working on it.
-The zoom feature I need to play with, it has to do with how GDI+ renders scaled bitmaps. I honestly don't even like it.
-The editor is supposed to remembering your last selection mode but it's obviously failing

The Layout Editor does need more cues on what to do. You have to create a new layout (click the add button at the bottom). Select a tile on the left and place it on the right for your layout. Right click is supposed to remove a tile from the layout editor on the right.

I'll change the term to TSA instead of map16

Showing screen boundaries is easy. Right click your guide panel and choose "snap to Screen Height' or "Snap to Screen Width". That will show the viewable areas.

Loading your last project I might be able to do. I will also work in something that associates a rom with your project so you don't have to keep selecting one to save to.

Everything else: duely noted and will implement
