Man, I really want to help. I just don't think I'm at the skill level you need for such a top-notch hack! However, I downloaded the file and the editor. So we'll see what happens... I'm going to toy around with this in my spare time. After all, I need a break from this Proto Man hack I'm doing, cause I'm starting to just loose interest and thinking of scraping it.

I've been working on this site in between working on my hacks of Mega Man 4, and Mega Man 2. I'd like some feedback from the other Mega man ROM hackers out there, and if you'd like to see your hack on the site, just PM me and let me know. I'm trying my best to gather info on all Megaman/Rockman hacks and add them to the site. I haven't added all, so if something is missing you want to see, let me know. Eventually, I'll be hosting all the IPS patches for the hacks listed on the site, rather then linking to them. Also, with respect, if you'd like me to remove your hack from the site, just let me know and I'll remove it.

Kuja Killer, I posted some info on the site about your Mega Man 3 hack, in hopes of getting people interested in helping you get the ball rolling on completing your hack, the more people that know about what my site is all about, the better chance we have of getting more people interested.

I also want to add a documents section in the future for those interested in sharing their ROM hacking skills. More info will be added as I receive it. Also there are other bits of info on various other things such as Rockman/Megaman reproduction carts, etc.

id like if my upcoming hack were mentioned there, maverick revenge 2. also if there is a database of finished hacks there you can put up maverick revenge. although, note that maverick revenge 2 maybe doesn't get finished this year.

Glad you posted, I was actually going to PM you about your hack. As I said, I haven't posted all the hacks yet, but I will certainly get "Maverick Revenge" up there, as well as info on "Maverick Revenge 2". By the way, what Megaman game are you hacking for your new hack? I'm guessing it's Megaman 5... but I could be wrong. The screen shots look great, but it was hard to tell what the original game was.

Have you tried Visine? http://rocknes.kinox.org/

It's the only other editor for MM2 that I know of.
Also, if your wanting new music in your hack, you really need to learn how to use a hex editor. I know of no program that will just "insert" the music into the ROM for you. As for graphics, I use Tile Layer Pro, just use Google to find it.
Knowing how to use a hex editor is a skill every ROM hacker should become familiar with.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new and improved level editor for Megaman/Rockman 2, as the ones I have are either in Japanese, or they mess up the ROM. In fact, I'd like to see a Megaman 2 level editor similar to MegaFLE.

Here are more:
-Ninja Gaiden 1.2. & 3
-Silver Surfer
-TMNT 1,2, & 3

And for the SNES:
-Mega Man 7
-Mega Man X1. X2, X3
-Super Castlevania 4
-Castlevania: Dracula X
-Contra 3
-DKC 1, 2, 3

Hi everyone on this thread! I've been working on a hack of Megaman 3, known as Rockman Zeal. So far, I have only edited the level designs and the level sprites, along with enemy and item placement. All 8 first 8 levels are completed, although in the case of Shadowman, Magnetman, and Geminiman, I haven't been able to playtest the boss due to some coding going awry and the boss doors not opening. I am still creating the music, so no new music has been placed in. I'm looking to see if anyone would want to work with me to edit the coding in the game so I can
A) Change disappearing blocks
B) Change boss AI
C) Remove special coded in parts of the game
D) Change weapons
that would be great!
I may have a demo up soon, but idk where I should upload it. :/ Any and all help is appreciated, thank you :]]

You can upload the demo .IPS here in the uploader.

This is one hack I've been waiting for now for awhile since learning about it over at metconstruction. Will there be use of save stations or does it rely on the use of save states within the emulator?

Great to finally see Mega Man X getting some love from the hacking community. Now if the guy over at RHDN would give some updates on his level editor, I'd be a very happy gamer. I always envisioned an editor for X similar to SMILE for Super Metroid.... well, I guess that's what I'm hoping for. I'd love to see some hacks of this game.

I, like many others here, have been waiting for years for a coder to come along and make a Wily Wars editor. So... with that said, thank you for doing this. Your doing the ROM hacking community a huge favor.

Now, I have an idea, and maybe you could shed some light on how it might be implemented in the editor. Let's say we want to hack Mega Man 2, and not touch the other games contained within the ROM. Would it be possible to export a completed ROM image of just that game... separate from the others? That way when we load the ROM in an emulator, we can start playing our completed hack for the respected game we chose to work with out of the three. Just an idea...

The reason I ask, is because I've been working on a Mega Man 2 ROM hack for nearly three years now (I'm a very lazy hacker, lol) and I had planned to build a actual NES cart for it to play on real hardware once completed. If my idea can be done within the editor, I may consider scraping my project and moving it over to the genesis once this editor gets a first release. I know it may be possible to do by just changing some code within the ROM, but I know nothing when it comes to the genesis.

I've seen Super Mario All-Stars hacks on the SNES where this has been done, so I figured I'd mention it. Genesis carts are pretty easy to build... I actually built my own Wily Wars cart a few years ago, to play on an American genesis console. Since the real megadrive version sells for a ton of $$ on evil-bay, I figured it was the way to go for me. It's just a matter of burning the ROM chip, and applying it to the board of the cart. I could put my own hack on a genesis cart as well as other peeps hacks if this could be done.

Hey Grime, this hack is awesome. I'm digging all the work you've done, really cool stuff. A very nice companion to the original. In fact, I prefer this over the original to be honest. I never knew Super Metroid could look so good. But with all the recent hacks such as Ice Metal, and now this... I'm reminded of what a beauty this game was, and still is.

By the way, you know me as Riffman81 over at metconst. I believe KP9000 mentioned in an earlier post about maybe getting a SNES cart built for this. Since I have built carts for SM: Redesign, Ice Metal, Eris, and Stardust. would it be cool to test this hack on real hardware? Or should I wait to build a cart when the final release is made? Would love to add this to my collection.

I've played all of the Megaman's 1-8 two fighting ones and X1 to x7. But I just gotta ask this, WTF IS WILY WARS!?

Megaman Wily Wars (Known as Rockman: Mega World in Japan) Is a compilation cart of the first three NES Mega Man titles for the genesis. It also contains bonus levels and some new bosses after you complete each game. Graphics are updated to 16-bit as well. Kind of like what Nintendo did with Super Mario All-Stars. By the way... Nice to see you again DarkSamus.

I'd say wait until there's a final release. There are still a few small quirks in it (mainly the ones mentioned above).

Will do. I'll keep an eye out for the final release.

I am really impressed with this hack. Great work so far. I really hope it gets finished. I'm not much when it comes to ASM skills, so I wouldn't be of much help to you. You should try to post on more forums and get more folks involved. I'm sure someone out there could help you with getting the ASM tweaks finished up. It's a sad trend in the hacking world that many great ROM hacks never quite get finished... I'd hate to see another great Mega Man hack fall to the wayside.

hey guys, i'm back.

Megaman Eternity is on indefinite hiatus, due to irl issues, but I have a favor to ask. A while ago, someone created a repository or database of sorts where all the megaman rom hacks were being documented. They posted it here on the forums, but I can't seem to locate that post anymore. I need the link for a project i'm doing for the Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch Skulltag game. If someone can give me that link, I'd appreciate it.

If your talking about my Mega Man Hacking site, then the link is below. I haven't updated it in a long time, and it's due for a major overhaul... as many hacks have either been released, or canceled. I plan on updating everything and adding a master download link for all the current Mega/Rock Man hacks as well (Including incomplete/canceled hacks). So if any of you have something you'd like to submit. Let me know. I'll be updating the site soon... I know it sucks right now, but real life keeps taking up all my time.

Great stuff. Now If i the Mega Man X,X2,X3 level editor would just get some tweaks, I'd be a happy camper!

Matrixz, will you be releasing a Mega Man 7 music hack like you did with MM X? I'd be interested in having that, and maybe others would as well.

Finally getting back to work on my Mega Man 2 hack with Proto Man. Wanted to let those interested know that I updated the patch I released awhile back. Nothing major.... just a modified stage select screen, and some tweaks done to Proto man's sprite, as well as some text edits.

I'm going to say that I'm a very slow hacker... I've been working on this for about 2 years now. Once I get a few more things in order, I'll release a "Beta" for everyone.

If anyone is interested in doing some level designs or contributing in any way, let me know.

NOTE: The patch update can be found in the uploader. It is just a fix to the one I released awhile back changing Mega Man into Proto Man. It does not include any new levels, music or ASM tweaks/mods. I'm saving all that for the beta/final release. The last time I released a demo, another hacker ended up ripping my custom GFX without asking and used them in his own hack claiming they were his... I don't mind if you use them when this thing finally gets finished... but asking would be nice.

EDIT: The .zip file also contains the patch for the Rockman 2 (J) ROM as well. That wasn't included with the last release. Seems to work fine when tested with several Rockman 2 hacks. -RIFFMAN81
