I'm working on something stupid and want to know if anyone who goes here is good enough to make an NSF rip from some obscure pirate game, so I could convert that to midi and then convert that to a .it file. I'm not sure if it'd be easy or not as it's not cheap enough to throw it into that bank to nsf file program, but I thought I may as well ask rather then give up, as I lack any knowledge of NES assembly.

If it doesn't help or you get stuck again, wouldn't looking at a SPC player's source code be useful perhaps?

My never to be made fantasy game idea would be at it's basics a kind of modern time platformer that would be somewhat like modern Castlevanias in the way of having many weapons and being an RPG/Platformer type mix, but movement would be more advanced with flips or grabbing on edges, possibly some parkour/free running type techniqes or trickster things, for both asthetic value, to reach locations(like walljumps and backflips in Mario 64), and experience points. Weapons would have their own experience points, which would raise a small numer of levels depending on what could be done. Thus, the player starts out not knowing how, say, to properly use a knife, then using it more would make it go from random swings and stabs to proper and more powerful thrusts and cuts.

An urban mix of Castlevania, Mario 64, and Sonic Rush, you could say.

I thought that ERROR was named that because that character's name was mispointed or such, thus causing it to print out that there was an ERROR.

Thats cool.

The only for VB thing makes me want to cry lol I'm probably the only person in the universe that owns one.

It makes me sad too, even though I don't play mine, that's because it will attract my brothers like flies. Yet I still find the walking tetris block segment funny...

edit: well... I didn't mean to bump it, I'm so out of touch today.

Also the Sonic disassemblies have allowed for a lot of awesome hacks that would have been too overwhelming otherwise... (of course, Lunar Magic and a reassembled SMW ROM would not be compatible...)

If SMW was dissasembled, then it would probably be possible to make a new editor that works on the dissasembled rom, rather then having lots of little ASM hacks that allow larger things and animated tiles, this new SMW would have those features and such done, THEN the game would be assembled. But has anyone ever dissasembled a SNES game?

When I spotted this thread, I noticed my custom title still said that I was confused(from the two boards thing), so I changed it. That's racist! is a catchphrase from Angry Asian Man.... even though I'm not Asian.

The games sucked? Uh, what games? There were only, what, 22 games? And the better games that were going to come out never did, and it was rushed to fill the gap till the N64, thus releasing a somewhat pricey non portable "portable" as nothing but a worthless timefiller till the N64, in which they dropped it and it's creator like garbage, not giving a care as to all the things he had done for them before?

I hate dragging threads too far off topic, but do you know where I might be able to find rotsprite? I googled it and only came up with a broken link(on the board where the person who created it posted it). I am creating custom heads to use in NBA Jam, and this would prove to be useful, as 5 frames are rotated at different degrees to create 15.

It won't be up there for much longer I believe.

To be honest, I'd much rather see some sort of data for the original Donkey Kong 94' on the Game Boy.

It's superior to the Mario vs Donkey Kong sequel in almost every single way, and the level data is probably a lot less complicated. I remember working on it a couple of years back, but didnt carry on with it that much.

Quoted for epic truth.
I have a foggy memory in my mind of someone posting primitive level data collections, but then again I don't know if it's just me. :\

Nonetheless, If anything should be put effort into, then definitely DK94.
With MvsDK having probably assloads of compressions and difficult routines, as opposed to the simple (Well yeah, no game level data is simple) DK94 level format.

In fact, I'll take a look at it right now.

Actually, the GB one would probably be compressed, as the GBA has so much more room that can be wasted(aren't most of the graphics in MvsDK uncompressed?), and the stages in it are probably simpler as they don't have BG tiles that in the GBA version are a background layer/s.

Nintendo is teasing us by saying it's starting today instead of opening it. They'll either open it more mid-day in Japan (it's like 1 AM over there) or not until 11:59.

I've heard talks of it being afternoon in Japan, which would be an 11:00 PM for example.

When working on personal fan-projects or debug passwords for them I often tend to use terms like Metrod or leval or such. I also sometimes like to say Mario like Mayrio, and mentally refer to some programs by the odd folder names I've given them(i'mbored for ZSNES, metroid0 for VBA)

They have been making sure Wario is as weird and gross as possible, so I figured that was just him walking forward with his butt.

I sometimes got several hits on people in Air Ride using the firecracker, this version ought to be much more fun with the aiming though.

The SML cave song was only meant to be heard for a short while as you cleared out a room of coins or item boxes. There is indeed a similar song in SML2 though, that might be more fitting.
