I actually saw it. I've got it on CD somewhere. I liked it at first, but, it's just the same old, same old after awhile.

It felt like just new facelifts on things, and a few new features like a zelda III type hook.

It got old after awhile. I still like official zelda I hacks better.

I listen to most of those, Aside from the first one, I don't like it much, but my GF listens to it ALL the time.

SMB 2 US has 2 editors actually.

Both are pretty similar, but, both are pretty buggy. I believe you can get them from romhacking.net.

Also Romhacking.net has a Ninja Gaiden editor.

You're a fucking idiot.

That's not very cool. This guy seems like he's trying.

It's because of comments like this, alot of potential programmers are deterred from programming. Even if it doesn't include alot (or any) hex editing, it still is a rom hack.

I think all the hate comments should definitely be filtered.

Here's an old example of one:

Modem 3-D (Dos)

For some reason I can't find it anywhere online, but, was a tank game that was I think second, or third person, and you could play against others over the modem.

Anyone else remember this?

If not, please mention a game to keep this thread alive.

(Hope this is okay, as far as I read it is.)

Very nice. I had something similar happen.

There was a game I used to rent all the time, with dinosaurs, I always LOVED the music in the game, but couldn't find it.

I finally (And just recently) after looking over a few games with dinosaurs, and finally found "Dino City" was the game I was looking for.

Also (Dragging my post from the other thread):

Does anyone remember a dos game where you control 3 different guys (All at once), each with different guns, in an over head shoot em up game, I can't remember the name of it anymore.

It was originally on the Night owl BBS. (A long long time ago).

It was for DOS.

Anyone remember the name/own it?

I can't really remember much more than that.

You controlled all three guys at once.

(It was meant for three players, but, you could do it with 1.)

The game in the picture isn't it.

But, I don't think you can.

What game is your pic of?

And:

Well, I'm not sure what it's called but I think this may be able to help you if you're willing to dig a lot. I found an old Galaga clone on here that I used to play a lot.

The Night Owl BBS Collection (1990-1996)

Thank you for this link. I'll look through them and find it.

I remember a few things on there, sou I should be able to find it quickly.

Edit
------------------------------
Oh wow! There's a TON of games there. There's like over 40 CDs or more to go through. But thanks. I'm gonna do that in my spare time.

For the life of me, I wish I could remember this old game's name... I can only remember vague things about it, too, so I dunno if anyone would be able to identify it, but it's worth a shot.

-It's an old DOS game.

-It's a side scrolling puzzle adventure game that has a little jetpack wearing dude as the playable character.

I used to love this game when I was a kid and I wish I could get my hands on it again to play in DOSBox.

Funny thing is, the game's name you ARE looking for is called jetpack.

I wish I knew about Jetpack turning freeware much earlier, I used to jump through hoops to have several custom levels saved at once (shareware edition only allowed you to have one custom level, but in practice you could get around that with file renaming).

Anyone remember an old DOS-based Boulder Dash clone with:
I remember seeing a boulder dash clone on a giant disk with PC Shareware games from a PC magazine for fifteen years ago, containing Win16 and DOS shareware games (needless to say, I can probably expect to only be able to run the most basic DOS games).

I should dig up said disk and see if I find it. Might be your boulder dash clone, or not.

I used to do the same thing. .BAT files were a huge time saver during those days.

It's a fairly interesting hack. The colour of Gadget's pants, I'd change to a gray also.

I'm totally stuck on the smurf village however. There seems to be only 2 paths (Aside from back), which are the ladder with the smurf ontop talking about the Karate guy, and the other one is the orb that says that no one can enter. What am I doing wrong?

One BD clone for dos is supaplex, but it didnt have level editor nor had expanding slimes :\

Yeah, Supaplex is fun, but the game I'm thinking of is definitely mine-themed. Dirt and all.

Could it be Paganitzu?

I found info at HOTU. I used to play the game, but, the site there doesn't distribute it.

I wish I could help. And don't get discouraged from uploading your rom. I think you should personally. Kawa may not want to help, but, there might be someone who would.

I don't know enough about rom hacking.

I'd say compare it against the original. Study where it has information about platforms.

I think that's where you'll find your info.

I"ve made major progress on the ROM.

This isn't one of those slop shoot semi change the graphics. This is going to be a total overhaul of SMB 2 to be like Doki doki panic where the good parts lie.

Sou far I have changed:

Grass to black. (Left it animated),

Potion to lamp,

Characters (Still need to work out a few things),

The title on the intro screen to have the Doki doki panic kanji, and a few other things there,

Shell turned to the proper mask,

Mushrooms to masks,

Health mushroom to a heart,

Characters on the contributor screen (at the end) have their Japanese names now (Need to fix this again),

Imajin's pic at the end fixed,

character names at the end changed correctly to the Doki Doki panic names including Mamu.

Changed the gate

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now my problems I'm having (I hope you guys can help.)

One: Luigi's legs. They kick. Where in the hex do you turn that off, and what value do you insert to do sou?

Two: The underground music, how do I get the speed to be like the Doki Doki panic's speed? I think it's several values changed.

Here are the locations: 0x0094CD ~ 0x00955F - Music Data for Underground

Three: How can I make the one up sound :

0x005061 - Sound a 1-up makes
$8266-828D = 1UP sound
0x008276 ~ 0x00829D - Sound Effect data for 1-Up grab
(That's all my info on that part)

Into the crystal grab music:

0x009094 - Music Header for Crystal won

Four: If you look at the name table when you open the rom at: 21B0,,, I want to know where that character is stored in the rom. It's not with the rest of the characters on the main screen. I want to use it to put credit, but, it's originally a blank space on the rom, and it's not with all the other characters. I've looked, and tried everything in the vacinity.

Five: Lina's head seems to have a white square above it. I think it's something to do with the way I did her sprite. I may have to redo it. But it's there except if I duck, or climb with her. I've looked at all the sprites and don't see the square there anywhere. It's directly above her head, and doesn't fill the 16x16 space completely.

If anyone can help with any of this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I hate to bother you guys with this, but I seriously AM trying to make this rom good.

I tried it out, I don't find the gravity to be the least bit realistic. When you touch certain pieces, they go flying, and if a piece touches anything else AT ALL, it goes on to the next piece. However, as put, It is impossible to make lines, even if you COULD get them all straight.

It's a cute joke though.
