That's like asking what do you accomplish from stopping to beat a dead horse? Nothing, you fool, but what do you accomplish while beating it? Also nothing. The benefit from closing the board is that it's no longer necessary to maintain. We don't have to waste portions of our lives (for example KP9000) deleting spambots, or posting posts that are rarely going to be seen.

"We" is bad wording since you're not staff here. If you don't have any faith in this board, that's fine, I'm not forcing anyone to stay.

If it gets to a point where we close down the board, then yes, we will of course leave an archive. But right now that's not what we are aiming for.

People often say: "but where will everyone (or alternatively just the ROM hackers) go?" The answer to this is simple. Both Jul and Romhacking.net cater to general ROM hacking. Dislike Romhacking.net paying too much attention to translations? Fix that. Be the person who discusses ROM hacking a lot. Get followers who do the same. Additionally, people liked this board due to just general overall discussion. They have Jul. Not to mention, there are bunch of other AB2/ABXD/whathaveyou boards that I don't really know about because I sorta stopped caring about Acmlm spinoffs after the Jul split. But since I know a lot of people have this "Xkeeper vendetta", I've read that some of these places actually have "I hate Xkeeper" groups or something like that. Yeah, people too immature to like Jul but are too attached to this specific branch of the internet would fit right in there.

Okay, first of all, not everyone here hates Jul, in fact, there are several users who go on both, me being one of them, KP is another I can mention I suppose. Furthermore, proclaiming that Jul is a good place for ROMhacking is not exactly a wise option. Sure, Jul does have a ROMhacking section, but it's not very active. And before you start saying that I should post in it to bring activity, you should know, I am one of the users who do post in that section.

And while ROMhacking.net is nice for many things, Acmlm's board (before the split) was always known for the great community and hacking. It was always (in my opinion) easier to get help and feedback here rather than RH.net.

And as much as I have gone around hearing about it, I have seen very little of this "Xkeeper vendetta" everyone keeps bringing up. I have seen a few users (read: under 10) that have been like that, that but they have mostly been dipshits you don't want to be with anyway. Sure, I have seen a few that just don't want to be around Xk, but they have been mature about it AFAIK.

The reason why I have not banned both sides of the drama lama yet is due to me being lazy and the fact that it did get a few not so active users to post valid suggestions in this thread. :/

Also, we are working on things right now to try and make this message board "not dead."

I don't think it's a bad idea bloodstar, never said it was. It's just that today, as it is now, Jul does not have the ROMhacking that Acmlm board 2 had. Furthermore, neither does board 2. Much hacking activity went away in the board split, which is kinda sad.

How about a pony forum on this message board?

No? Massive hating? Yeah I was kinda expecting that.

We all know this place is lacking activity, and I'm the first one to say that I will not accept trolling and flame waring as activity. Which got me thinking, what ways are there to get more users here? I saw what others said in the other thread, but not a whole lot of concreat things came up.

So I came up with this idea, what if we open a pony forum on the board and market ourselves as a tech geek community on brony news sites and places? It's very valid, would bring activity, and we would get in some new people that may actually get into ROMhacking given time.

Of course, this is a rather big change, so I thought I would gather user opinion on the case, There are two yes options and two no options which I will just add up later, and an I don't give two fuck option, see if you can figure out which is which. :/

Also, if you're strongly against this, feel free to suggest other things to bring in activity as well!

Let's be honest: just as there are pony lovers, there are pony haters. In an attempt to bring pony fans here, you may scare away newcomers who hate ponies, especially if it ends up being one of the more active forums here.

You bring up some good points.

I personally like to think that if you don't like something, just ignore it. Having it's own forum would put all that content there, making it easier for those that dislike it to avoid it. Also, this is assuming we do have newcomers from other places, which is not exactly something we do today.

Still, you do bring up some very valid points.

It's obvious we need to change in some way. Not saying this has to be it, of course. But we need to do something.

Ported the first CSS theme I made for ABXD to this board. Other than it not looking so good here, links in it are underlined for some odd reason.

Now, even if you like ponies, this theme is not one of the best. It's stylish, yes, but not very practical to use.

No worries though, I will add more themes as I port them.

While I'm sure I can do many changes more to make this place nicer... we still need some way of making ourselves more active. Many users exclaim that they want this place to remain, but as it is right now it's an sinking ship.

I can try and infuse activity from several angles in which I know people, but then we will end up with a whole bunch of users who share interests I do. This seems very egomatic and not the way to go.

So, it would be nice to share around the name of the place and such to any and all people who you might think would be interested in this place. I'm not talking about forcing it into someone's face, but if you find yourself talking about something we have here, it would be nice to mention the place, people may get interested, you know?

Yes, I lack backup, this is due to the obvious that we don't know where to go and word is not going around. (Which you could help with.)

Also, I don't have any plans, or any specific thing I mind; As I tried to make clear in my post. I want all users to input what they want and where to go with the board. But since that is not going superb and we are left with a bit of uncertainty with what to do: I made my last post.

I'd like to agree with you ninjablooper, but we would make it attract new members, not due to us being flooded with demand. Frankly, if we had demand for pretty much anything right now we would not have this issue.
