Another solution would be to remake the song using the same sound format that the rest of the game uses. It may not sound 100% the same, but if you recreate the same song, it should be just as good.

idk why I need to redo the song? The song sounds just the same as it does within the .FDS version, it's just missing 1 track which is the expanded audio.

Ah. I didnt know. I didnt beat the game on the NES yet. I have on the SNES long ago though. The game is brutally hard.

EDIT: I went and used the cheat that infidelity gave to go to 8-4 along with a few Game Genie codes for infinite time, infinite jump, and always firey and beaten 8-4. The song sounds just like Super Mario Bros 1, sound wise. I think we are fine with this and dont need to change anything.

I also found a patch for mario 1 and 2j which changes the ? blocks to the JPN 25th anniversary blocks. Seems fitting.

Please dont change the ? blocks to the 25th anniversary blocks. They are iconic as they are. Dont ruin them.

Well I would say yes and no. You could have one version with the normal ? blocks and another version which is exactly the same with the 25th Anniversary blocks. But I would only advise doing this once you are absolutely 100% sure that the rom is finally done.

Well, I guess if its a separate IPS patch that you can do after the patch to make the ROM. That should be OK as then it be optional.

1. Fixing the irq in Mario 3 (this will be the longest wait)
2. Attempt to restore the .fds missing track in smb2j, through the MMC5 PCM.

IMO, this is all that needs to be done, if even! You've done a great job on the SMAS converison and people still want more and more. :'(
If anyone wants those ? blocks they could create a patch for it. Tile Editing really isn't that hard.

I wouldn't want the original feeling of those classic games being taken away by bajillion of improvements or changes. Bug fixes are great but that's it.

I agree. Unless a bug shows up, which I doubt will happen, seeing how much work has been done to squash them all, those two are all that needs to be done and thats about it. Right now, we should be looking forward to infidelity's next project and playing the awesome games he made for us. Maybe even giving him suggestions for his next project.

Pressing a up and start rapidly on the title screen for the compilation on fceux will cause that to happen. It happened, I caught it on camera, and screenshotted it. It also made horrible sounds. I think it may be a CHR bankswap issue like that other one one or 2 months ago. As such, maybe the input for that should be delayed until the game finishes loading the assets.

Actually, its not just pressing up that does it. I tried down, left, and right and it did the crash. Nice find yet I sort of wonder what made you think of doing that?

I found a bug on the title screen. If you hold up and down or left and right and press start, it glitches. Ya, I know you cant do that on a real NES unless you mod it, but its still a bug that can happen. Also, infidelity, did you see the PM I sent ya a few days back?

I hope that someone manages to back up all of the hacks, patches, translations, and other stuff, just in case. Id hate to see all that good stuff go to waste if something were to happen to ROMHacking.

Yeah if Nestopia plays it, then it's correct. How you described it on Nestopia is how it's supposed to be.

That other you mention is no good for my games. When it comes to emulator ports, I've always suggested Nestopia because it's correct. But thank you for letting me know, I think I'm still going to leave it as is. If this didn't work in Nestopia then I'd be worried and looking it over.

And I really appreciate how long much you like the intro, I loved doing all that work on it, really glad people like it, but I can understand people wanting to skip to the game selection screen quicker, even I do heh, but I never want that intro to go away. So Nestopia on gaming consoles is the way to go.

I love the intro too. In fact, I do tend to watch it every so often, just because its so awesome. Its something Nintendo would have made, only better.

This is something I would look forward to seeing. I dont know how to make NES games, but if this can happen, maybe I can for once! I hope it happens.
