Super Metroid
AWESOME Walk Through Walls code. Just make sure you have morph ball, or you might get stuck if you jump. 948F4960 Seriously, the fact that one single code works so well for the entire game is amazing. |

I made it up. Because my real name isn't unique, but I can use this one everywhere.
Why is that so uncommon? |

F9 looks very suspiciously like it slides a note from it's current note to its third argument. The second argument looks like it tells how many tics to take to slide to the new note.
However, I am stumped on how you're supposed to use it. I tried putting a note before it and then F9, and it didn't do anything. I tried putting a C9 (wait) after it because it doesn't seem to take any time by itself. Still no audible effect from F9. So does anyone (*cough*blackhole89*cough*) know how to use this command? |

I *am* looking at the N-SPC code, and I've got quite the headache to prove it.
Playing around with F9 and E3, I still can't get them to make any audible effect. Meh. I'll look at the main loop for sound effect code tomorrow and see if it makes sense now that I have a ton more variables recorded. I'll bug you again if I haven't worked it out then. Right now I need to get my homework due tomorrow done. |

Yes, I would kill for enough time for boredom.
... Wait a sec, that wasn't the question. How do you people have extra time on your hands? |

Oh, this one's easy.
Because we have only the effect of gravity, using an umbrella won't do any good, because that's friction / drag. If we have to rely on gravity to save us from gravity, we have to resort to bouyancy. Ergo, we must create a massive air balloon from the bubble gum so that our net density is little more than air, so we only float down to the earth at a nice gentle speed. And since we're throwing out surface tension and stresses, the air balloon will thankfully never pop - we can just use one stick of bubble gum and be fine. Or, alternatively, we throw out electromagnetism in which case the universe collapses into a black hole and we don't go splat. We go squish instead. I guess that's not such a good alternative. |

Woah.
That last one (almost 18 kHz) is about the EXACT same pitch as that annoying sound in my ears that never goes away. And yeah, I can hear them all just fine. I have good hearing. XD Age 20 |

electrosensitivity? No... I've never had a problem with cell phones or anything. Though I can hear the high-pitch of computers and TVs just fine.
I do have some pretty distinct tinnitus though (though I've only seen the word today). Oddly enough, it seems to get worse when it's quiet; silence can be literally deafeningly loud to me. |

Super Metroid's demo-play code.
The normal controls are used, but a special get-key routine is used to load data from the rom. This isn't so bad. However, there is also a catch in the get-key routine to run code for special case stuff. Keep in mind, this is only run when there are special-case enemies being run as well. As well as special-case code. You might think this is just to make the timing easier. It's not. The enemies, and Samus's reaction to them, are handled by the special-case get-key routines. |

Hahahaha... I just found my problem.
There's a difference between C8 an C9. On a side note, I have to complain about how C8 is handled by the SPC core. |

You guys fail at coming up with good solutions.
It's a cinch to omit a particular symbol. But doing so without killing your phrasing - THAT's a trick. |

I didn't finish the game, but I did get half way through the 4th level. And I managed to max out the shield upgrade (An upgrade you get from shooting a dead boss a lot).
Level 1 is a simple 1-hit invincibility. Level 2 is like having 2 level 1's. Level 3 gives you two spheres that circle your ship and take out enemy ships and projectiles. No invincibility - if anything gets through, you die (and go to level 0 shields). Level 4 is the two spheres and one invincibility hit. And there doesn't seem to be a level 5 or 6. Pretty solid game as far as basics go, although the ship is uncomfortably large relative to the playing field. But nothing really interesting. |

This is turning stupid alarmingly fast. All-consonants fails horribly at 1-symbol words. Don't. '1337' is a royal pain. And using 3's is just munchkinish. Why don't you try putting actual thought into this trial? Naturally, almost all our nicks contain that symbol. I can't call any of you by your alias. |

Meh. I'm stumped - I see a few oddities, but I'm not seeing any suspicious patterns at all.
Buuuut.... I figured I'd try my own little challenge. Anyone see anything suspicious? although... I guess I'd better put a lot of lines in so it's at least reasonable to try to figure it out. Squash Monster did not bother to follow his rules in his reply, so it's probably not too simple. Doritokiller: I'm guessing you thought of avoiding c for the first letter? My own failed guess: Avoid repeating words in a single sentence. Squash uses two I's in one sentence though... |
