I really like this hack even though it has some minor glitches in it. Even though the maps are a little edited, that's okay. The invisible stomping game seems to be a little unfair in my opinion. Also, you could have had more magic attacks. Overall, this is a very good hack.

The hack looks solid and fine, but I would change the music, if I were you.

About the 1st boss:
My choices for names are handevil (hand+devil+evil) and grabomination (grab+abomination).

I really would like to change the music but I'm not that great at NES music editing. I like the name Grabomination though.

Have you tried to expand the rom before applying the patch? Try that and let me know if it worked.

How can I expand my ROM? I'm on a Mac, so don't link me to Lunar Expand.
Is there a manual way, with a hex editor or some shit?

Sorry, I don't know. I have uploaded a new link since there were still glitches.

Mods, if you can, please erase or lock this thread. My hack still has some glitches that need to be fixed. Thank you.

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with a custom sprite in Romi's Sprite Pack. I applied the .asm patches using xkas GUI (finding an empty spot first, then doing so.) Defined the places that the patches have been put in the rom in definition.asm. However, when I use Spritetool (st140), and when the specific custom sprite is about to be inserted, it gives me the "you should quit spritetool before your rom gets corrupted." I don't understand why it's giving me this error. Even when I ignore it, and put the custom sprite in the level, I hear the level music but the level doesn't load at all.

What type of game are you ripping from? Genesis, SNES, NES?
A good graphic editor that I use is yy-chr.

(This is how I rip graphics from SNES games.)
How I do it, is make a save state from the game I want to rip from, open the save state in yy-chr and then find the graphics in the save state that you want to rip. You can also open the rom in yy-chr but it's better to open the save state because you might not get the graphics you want by opening the rom with yy-chr.

Hope that helped.

Here are a couple of videos of my SMW hack that I'll be releasing soon.
I'm still working on it to see if it has any bugs/glitches that need to be fixed.

Title screen, intro & first level of the first world Quiet Coast.

A level in the second world Slushie Summit.

A level in the third world, Quiet Outlands.

Nintendude: Your hack looks like fun, but I have a couple of graphical concerns...particularly some of the bad palette clash in your levels. The outline colors are very inconsistent: some things will have dark or black outlines while others will have very light ones that are only a few shades darker than the darkest color on that object. It's all right to have light OR dark outlines, but having both isn't so easy on the eyes.

There's also some cut-off here and there, and I didn't even notice it until GreyMario pointed it out, but your hills are totally bacon.

Thanks for the comments GreyMario & Mineyl. By the way, in which video does it show a bad palette clash? Also, I didn't know what "bacon" meant but I guess it means that the hills are bland. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi all,

This is a Super Mario World hack that I released in 2007. However, the original version had some glitches and bad decision made in the hack. However, I have fixed the glitches and changed tons of things in the hack.

The hack can be downloaded here.
http://bin.smwcentral.net/32574/Quiet%20Island%20(Final).zip

Here are some screenshots also.

Well, enjoy the hack!

Hi all,

I'm having a problem changing the dungeon locations when Link uses the Recorder to warp to the entrance of the nine dungeons randomly. See, I changed the locations using Zelda Tech, now I need to know how I can match the warping to the correct screen where each dungeon is.

Have you tried looking at documentation on the game, or is stuff like the flute undocumented yet?

The only thing I can think to tell you is to watch the RAM addresses in the hex editor when you warp, then find the ROM addresses for the outputs and change them.

I have looked at documentations on this game and check the ROM map on Data Crystal. I didn't see anything. Unless, there are some more documentations on this game that I haven't check or don't know about.

Hi all,

This is a Legend of Zelda NES hack that I have been working on since earlier this year. In includes graphic changes, dungeon changes, and overworld changes. However, it's in demo mode and only covers the 1st quest. I still have to do the dungeons for the 2nd quest and any other things that have not been made.

Here's some screenshots.

Here is the download link.
Download Here!

Please let me know if you encounter glitches or having troubles what
to do next. Enjoy!

I think the intro screen is super crap...

I found a glitch in the first dungeon. The Dodongo's tile mapping is not right...
Also, it looks like the second quest in the original game. The first dungeon is shaped like a "E". I don't know if the doors or rooms were changed...

Some graphics look just weird to me, but having a different Overworld map is a good start, as long as it doesn't look like a mere deformation of the original, with is what I think this hack is. As far as Zelda 1 hacks go, the bar was set relatively high in the past (Outlands being the ultimate example), so I guess you could work on it a lot to make it truly a new experience. We have seen a lot of graphics hacks, most of them being crap, and this one doesn't impress me much. The trick with pirates is neat, but lots of stuff needs improvement, in my opinion. Rupees look weird, the dungeon items (map, compass) need work...

There isn't supposed to be a Dodongo in the first dungeon. I have yet to work on the second quest in which none of the dungeons have been changed (a later demo will have the second quest done). I will do that soon. As for the graphics, what can I say, I'm just not good when it comes to making graphics. Otherwise, I do agree that the graphics could be better. Thanks for the criticisms.

Hello all,

I know I haven't been here for a while but I have been working on my EarthBound hack. The hack was started in 2006 but I have completed created the hack 100% with many changes. I know that I have a previous thread about this hack but I didn't want to bump it.

Here is a custom title screen that I have created.

I don't want to reveal too much but the hack can be downloaded here.
http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=4104

I also have a minor gameplay video too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZfPWHM-HZc

If anyone encounters and bugs/glitches or have any question about completing something, just PM me. I could also do a walkthrough of the hack. Enjoy!

Also, the old thread can be found here for more information (please don't bump it)
http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=4952

The patch is now Version 4 with some minor changes and more bugs/glitch fixed.

Right now, I'm currently playing some classic RPGs. Final Fantasy IV(II US),Final Fantasy VI(III US), I just started to play that game for the first time. Also, New Super Mario Bros for the DS. That game is better than the one on the Wii, and the first Breath of Fire for the SNES.

I have to say Final Fantasy IV, is my favorite Final Fantasy game so far. I just can't wait to see what Final Fantasy VI has in store.

I had to make a quick change to this hack, there was a minor bug in New York City that I had to change. The patch has been updated. If anyone else finds any bugs/glitches please let me know.
