Ok, so we installed a signal amplifier for our cable service. My bedroom has both our cable modem/router (it's a two-in-one), and a television, and it comes from an adjacent room via a very long cable. It's worked for the longest time, the cable internet was fine, the TV reception was much better than without it.

However, recently, our cable internet has been going out a lot. It goes out at night, and works during the day. I think this is because comcast is doing more work (again), in preparation to adding a bunch of digital channels to our lineup.

Here's the thing, I unplugged the amplifier, and the internet started *working*. Moreover, it's working at normal speed!

I thought that signal booster was two-way, but I dunno. Why does it all of a sudden cause problems?

It's not that this thread is spiraling out of control or anything, but we can do without it.

Yeah, sorry about that, I didn't think about the [citation needed] posts at the time. I would've restored the thread, but... you know... can't.

Even better how, since it's text based, I don't have any Japanese fonts, so almost everything shows up as boxes. Great!

Yeah, I completely and utterly suck at this game.

I think it's possibly a DoS. It could also be a case of ISP lag or something.

Well, the lag is gone now, so it doesn't matter either way.

Thing is, I don't want to upgrade just to view some pretty squares and lines on a message board. I was kinda hoping there's an extension or something I could use instead, but either way, what's the point?

I'm actually for the merger now. Everyone who I care about has moved off of this board and onto JUL, so there's really nothing here for me to stay for. The staff at ||board are willing to run a board though, as opposed to here where nobody wants to step up. It's really better for this board to just die, and for the users to either go to ||board or JUL.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with the way things work at ||board, so I'm just going to remain at JUL. A lot of the people who are still here and don't like JUL would probably be more at home at ||board. It works out.

Besides, if this board closes down, there'd no longer be a community split. JUL wants nothing to do with this board, and you've all considered it xk's community anyway, and ||board is ||bass's community, or #nobodysworld's community or whatever. Two completely different communities, so this is definately a bonus.

Either way, the last time this board was hacked, it was an attempt to just shut it down.

And, uhh, I don't think anyone complained.

en a grape before. I find them really tasty, and they're just so good, it's hard to eat just one, you usually have to eat a whole branch of them or something. Why is that, anyway? It's just something to ponder about. Grapes are just really addictive. Why does grape juice taste different from actual grapes? I mean, if I juiced my own grapes, the juice would taste like 10 times sweeter. It's just something I've always wondered. Another thing is that I don't like cranberries. Old people seem to like cranberries, but I think it's because their sense of taste has degraded to the point where they can't tell if they like it or not, so they eat them because they're healthy. Cranberry juice is just blech for me. Why are cranberries getting into everything nowadays? A lot of oceanspray juices are some fruit plus cranberries. It's almost unavoidable. They find tons of stuff to add cranberries to. What's the point? To enhance the flavor? It just tastes like chicken with cranapple, it doesn't accentuate anything at all. It's like that asprin that has asprin for men, and special asprin for women that has calcium in it. "For strong bones, try new women's asprin, with calcium." Why? There's no point to adding calcium to it, it's just unnecessary garbage. And why did they make it women only? Are men not worthy of strong bones? Or are women just so weak, that they need to have extra calcium in stuff they use? I need to watch my weight, no more carbohydrates for me! Hell, let's lose the vitamin C in our diet too, it's just unnecessary weight. Come to think of it, let's just all eat carboard. I'm sure it's healthier than everything else on the market, and it probably doesn't add weight, and it probably doesn't have any negative health effects. Probably. Did you even do your research? What's the point of these stupid diets anyway? It all has no taste. Why would you eat something you can't even taste? Isn't that one of the things that makes eating enjoyable, the good taste? All of the fun stuff that makes you feel good is prohibited. In the future, sex will probably be affected too. You'll probably have the semen extracted from you scientifically, and then the woman has an egg extracted from her, and then the semen gets injected directly to the egg. Sure it procreates, but it's not fun at all, and dammit, it's not natural. This is probably where we're all headed. Everything fun will be removed from life. That is, if the 1000 life-threatening risks that are inevitably unstoppably headed our way don't wipe out the human race first. Cell phones give you cancer, the sun gives you cancer, too much food gives you cancer, LIFE gives you cancer. Hell, life is just one huge tumor that's just waiting to kill you. And then what? As it turns out, the tumor was caused by a highly contageous disease that is spread through the air, and causes death within 3 minutes of infection. Whoops, looks like we're all completely screwed beyond all hope whatsoever. What's the point? Another thing that annoys me is how obsessively clean children nowaday's environment is. "I throw my food in the toilet and then eat it". Good for you little Timmy. Here's a huge illness so you can learn not to be such a dumbass in the future. WHOOPS, there's a pill that'll cure it, so it turns out you won't learn your lesson after all! Sorry, but that's not how experience works. Another problem this leads to is immunity. Kids will grow up with no immunities whatsoever. Oh damn, I touched a hand rail that someone sneezed on last year, I'm going to get the flu! Oh god, I hope I can get to my antibiotics in time! Nom nom nom. Whoops I'm dead! Turns out that was cyanide! Why the hell does Tylenol make cyanide pills, and then have "Tylenol" printed in huge print? They'll probably do that in the future. They'll find out that cyanide cures aids or something, side effects include death. There's a pill for everything now. What happened to suppositories? No, I mean, who came up with the idea that shoving something up your ass can cure something? It's ridiculous and immature, but it probably won the woman a super huge award. Yes, a woman, who else would it have been? The other day, I was trying to get a drink from the vending machine, and it took my dollar, but didn't give me any credit for it. Why the hell haven't they come up with a better system yet? I mean, we can create this super fast 10 trillion math formulas computed per millisecond superprocessor thingy, but we can't make a system that fucking takes a dollar, and identifies it as a dollar without it getting jammed in the mechanism? I dunno, if life, technology, biology, physics, and all that stuff is all about balance, I think we have a serious imbalance somewhere.

tl;dr:
Grapes taste sweet like cranberrys getting into asprin that has cyanide in pills with calcium that you shove in vending machines that can't tell there's an imbalance.

I did everything in Super Balloon Fight Physics Mario (actually, "Balloon Bros" is a better name for it, now that I think of it) myself. I didn't even know Mario Seasons (is that one of DahrkDaiz's hacks?) did this, or that there were animation hacks available or anything.

That HUGE block of FFs is a side effect of me expanding the rom. To expand the rom, I had to convert it to MMC3. The number of PRG banks *MUST* be a power of two, so I couldn't just add one bank, I had to add two (making it 4).

I tested my hack in nestopia and nintendulator, and I followed the "rules" for the MMC3, so I don't see why it wouldn't work in pocketnes, except if pocketnes was at fault, or if I mixed something up in the ines header, or something.

The way I did the animation is just by bankswitching between 4 frames at regular intervals. Pretty simple. I just did it for fun, I wasn't really aiming for anything in particular.

The reason that hack fails in PocketNES is that the program counter crosses non-adjacent PRG banks.

Would this cause problems on a real NES, or is this just a PocketNES quirk or something?
