Ahhhh ok. So it's not just pointless nationalism. I can't read Japanese, so I never would've known that. And yeah, that does change my view. I hope I didn't sound too harsh in my post.
Edit (because I feel like I need to add more): But yes, there isn't much point in hiding things like this. Hiding a huge rom hacking project or a homebrew project is more understandable, but nobody should need to feel intimidated from sharing something like this. I mean, if he really feels like his skills are low, a way to improve is to get some comments and suggestions by people who he feels are of higher skill. And to do that, he needs to share his work with someone. ____________________ |

#rom-hacking is considering moving to irc.darkmyst.org. There's a few pros and cons there, but I haven't gone there myself. Apparently, nickserv doesn't support linked nicknames, so you'd need to register each of yor nicks seperately.
Second, chanserv has to actually be inside the channel, but it has a few more features than esper's chanserv. Dunno. Since I go to #rom-hacking as well, I'd appreciate it if I didn't have to connect to multiple servers. Either way, I never have problems with espernet. The netsplits don't bother me that much. Anyway, whatever server we decide to move to (if we move), I'd also appreciate it if it allowed connections on additional ports other than 6667, because I can't seem to connect to irc servers on port 6667 when I'm at school. I have a feeling I know why and how to fix it, but just to be safe... ____________________ |

I have been considering leaving #rom-hacking... like, if I ever had to choose a community, I'd pick this one. I don't want to leave #rom-hacking though, because a few people in there are cool... but a few are just meh. The rest are idle. But yeah, if I absolutely can't stand being on two servers, I'll leave it. My only thing with that is if they actually do switch servers, I won't know where.
Warning, somewhat off topic content below, but pertaining to the topic anyway:
Anyway, at school, I'm able to connect to esper.net when I'm not using port 6667. So for example, irc.esper.net:6667 just times out no matter what, but irc.esper.net:5555 works fine, and so does irc.esper.net:6668. I've tested this at school before I got out for summer, so I know it worked. Anyone still reading? Anyway, being on our own network might be nice, but I feel comfortable on espernet, because there are multiple servers just in case one goes down, and they have a lot of staff, just in case something goes wrong. This was just a strange occurance, I guess, because every time I've had to go into dragonweyr, they gave me a response within a few minutes. It may be 10 minutes tops, but they never took an hour to respond. ____________________ |

I have 18, but my threads tend to not get a lot of replies.
I don't mind though. I don't particularly feel urges to make threads or anything. ____________________ |

Posted by Castro So Chuck Norris is in the closet? And yeah, Chuck Norris jokes are really stale now. They weren't even funny when they were fresh, but two years ago when I was in high school, it was all the rage, much to my dismay. College people don't even care about Chuck Norris anymore. Now it's all about Borat. "VERRRRY NIIIEECE" my ass. ____________________ |

It may have just been the people on my floor, because we all went to go see it together. The result? "VEEERY NIEEECE", "YEEAASS", and other annoyances.
I dunno, I'm hoping for the time being, we'll be without a "national joke series". ____________________ |

The funny thing is that I don't feel any different after becoming full mod.
I probably just haven't been mod long enough. ____________________ |

Highs of ~90F, lows of ~65F, scattered thunderstorms.
I love bright sunny days, you're lucky. ...that is, as long as the humid is low. ____________________ |

Posted by Sukasa This is an awesome quote! And yeah, this game's pretty simple. You visit everyone, and you take note of where they are and what they have beside them. Then, you go to someone else and you click on the icons of the people you've visited and the objects they had. The people SHOULD tell you who has what item and where they are. When you come across the person who tells the wrong info, you shoot, you get the egg, and everyone is happy. Personally, I'm really interested in those soviet-era coin-ops. I want to play one of them. ____________________ |

Pretty much, Xk knew he was gonig to get put out of power, so he decided to have fun before it happened, and the result is this.
Kinda funny how a board explodes because knuck joins an irc channel. Apparently that was the last straw. ____________________ |

I used to have Norton Internet Security, but my college requires Symantec Antivirus, so I had to uninstall NIS.
In its place, I've installed Norton Personal Firewall (it's a good thing I did, because I soon discovered that I kept occasionally getting attacked by random people on the network). The only thing about NPF I don't like is Norton Protection Center, which basically does nothing except tell you when you don't have a firewall or an antivirus installed. I disabled the service through services.msc or whatever it's called. I browse safely, but in the event that I get infected, I try using hijackthis. ____________________ |

Posted by leileilol In my absolute honest opinion, I would too, but it's not up to me. I dunno, maybe we should get a general board consensus or something. ____________________ |

I think I've stated my opinion enough times, but here it is again:
Xkeeper was a good admin, and a good coder. He was in *no way* "too strict" or "too harsh". He just enforced authority. I mean, I can understand anyone saying he's too strict if they come from a place where people can do absolutely anything at all and have no consequences or punishments resulting from it, ever, but that's not how this board functions. Since xk was removed from power, several permabanned people have been unbanned, we're suddenly without an admin who's quick to respond to things, and well, I think the results speak for themselves. The biggest issue with the decision is that the server admin just doesn't like xk. And of course, server admins have the ultimate rulings over everything, right? Edit: And yeah, you really don't know what you have until it's gone. I think that's the best analogy that applies here. ____________________ |
