I collected some interesting information about it here

Microsoft URL Control is not connected in any way to Microsoft or its search engine spiders, it is actually a "control" that allows programs running on Windows to access the web.

Microsoft URL Control is used by many different types of programs, some are nice and some are not. In many cases, it's an email address sniffing bot, so you would want to probably ban the IP address it's coming from, not necessarily the whole thing. I don't necessarily think banning it in the robots.txt file would work.

The Microsoft search engine robot is called MSNbot.

This site has some ways to trap bad robots. It's kinda funny to read.

That Microsoft URL Control thing is weird, there doesn't seem to be any official information on it.

That makes sense, actually, because a lot of sites that mention the user-agent, they hint that it's associated with VB in some way.

Still though, internet web crawlers are kinda scary. I mean, some make money off your site without giving anything back.

This game is so weird, there's absolutely no point to anything at all. One moment I'm outside, and the next moment, in a cave, then outside again, but desert. Then in the cave again, then in a dark maze room, then an ice hell. It's so random and spontaneous. It has a certain charm that I can't place my finger on, but in a way, I like this game. I think it has some kind of KnP/TGF/MMF charm.

Also, pressing up on the controller gives me 3 points each time I do it. I think this might be because I collected some kind of medallion that has an up arrow on it.

A VERY strange game, but it does have some kind of familiar charm to it which I like.

And the timer hack is cool.

Edit: His deaths are so weird. Bird shit makes him die of being grossed out I guess, touching an enemy turns him monochrome (turning to stone?), and falling off the bottom of the screen, he needs to fall pretty far off screen before he actually dies, and you still move when you're falling off screen. When I made platformers in TGF and MMF, I used to do that (you'd need to fall off the screen a little far, but it never was *THAT* far)

Oh, you can also die from walking into your explosion thing, but it's the "grossed out" death thing.

Wow, that's pretty good!

Here's one I made when I was bored in CS class my senior year (2 years ago)
link
But yeah, it's not really as good. Then again, if I were to try drawing this again, it'd be better.

But yes, you should definately consider joining pixeljoint or pixelation if you want to improve your skills.

Since this game is so random, I came up with some kind of backstory to help it make a little more sense.

One fine day, an explorer named Guy McPerson had a dilhemma on his hands.

"I'm really bored," he said, "I really don't know what to do!"

In search of something to do, Guy stepped onto his front porch and
picked up the newspaper. He then carried it to the table, sat down,
and opened it, in hopes of finding something enlightening.

Upon opening the newspaper, the headline caught Guy's eye.
"THE LOST CITY OF ATLANTIS HAS BEEN RISEN FOR NO REASON"

"Hmm..." he said, "The lost city of Atlantis has been risen for no
reason... I have nothing to do..."

Guy thought and thought. He thought some more. Then he took a sip of his
drink. Then he scratched his forehead. He then thought more.

"I've got it!" he exclaimed, "I can explore Atlantis, which will give it
a purpose for being risen, and that will also give me something to do!"
Excited, Guy rushed out of his house, into his driveway, and hopped into
his hot-air balloon.

He arrived at the entrance to Atlantis, where an information kiosk stood.
Reading the name plate of the employee, Guy said, "Hello, Harry Johnson!
I would like to explore Atlantis!"
"Great," replied Harry, "but there are a few things I need to point out."
"What's that?"
"Atlantis is dangerous."
"How so?"
"There's great danger lurking inside."
"Oh no! I need to be careful then!"
"Don't let any enemies touch you, they will curse you, turning you to stone."
"Oh no!"
"Don't let any bird droppings hit you, because it's yucky."
"Oh no!"
"You will need something to protect you."
"Don't worry, I brought my exploding boomball generator."
"Great! That will do just fine, just don't walk into your explosions."
They both laugh.
"One more thing," said Harry.
"Yes?" said Guy.
"Atlantis is covered in radioactive chemicals as a result of harmful pollutants
being dumped into the ocean each year by factories."
"Oh no!"
"Each door has a special de-radioactivity spell blessed onto it. When you pass
through doors, you become free of radioactivity, so make sure to go through doors!"
"Gee, there sure are a lot of bad things at Atlantis."
"Don't worry, Atlantis is home to many treasures. Just collect treasures, they
give you life. With life, you can conquer death. Also be on the lookout for special
medallions. They give you special powers!"

"Treasure?" Guy thought, "Maybe I can find the greatest treasure in Atlantis!
Who would've thought that a boring day could become a great adventure?"
"I will find the greatest treasure in Atlantis!" he finally exclaimed.
"Good luck!" said Harry.
"Thank you!"
"Your welcome!"
With that, Guy set off in his hot-air balloon, to reach mystery adventure start...

Actually, that's just the Airwolf logo.
But yes, it does look freaky. I think it's the lamb head.

And yeah, I did see the nagoya thing, but I had no idea what it was.

And why do Japanese games always have English in them? Do Japanese people typically learn English as a second language or something?

Isometry is all about eliminating perspective. In essence, there isn't really a "close to the camera" or a "far from the camera". There's close and far, but it cannot be related to the camera.

A 3d image can be isometric. It might not be pixel art, but it can still be isometric.

However, taking any 3d image and just simply rotating it does NOT make it isometric.

Notice how the bottom left edge of the ground and the top right edge don't have the same angle. In an isometric projection (opengl calls it "orthographic"), those two lines would have the same angle. This is just one example, there's a couple things in this image which give it away as non-isometric.

This is isometric. An easy way to tell this is how the vertical lines are all parallel to each other, no matter where in the picture they are.
Another way to tell is that all of the lines are parallel to each other. The top of the right fence, the borders of the right sidewalk, the gaps on the left sidewalk, etc, are all parallel.

When applicable, I use raw pixels.

However, some emulators (like VBA) will do a stretch, and the stretch is kinda interpolated. It's still the individual pixels, but they're kinda blurred among each other. It's just the default directdraw stretch. Like, I'd have to use a 2xscale filter to get the pixels back.

I don't use supereagle or 2xsai or whatever, because that tends to make things look really ugly to me.

Edit: I also tend not to stretch any bigger than 2x, because it's easier on me to not have to move my eyes so far when I'm looking around the screen.

Get it here
Source

That's right! After Disch officially discontinued it, I picked it up. I dunno if I want to be the new permanent author, but for now, I'll update it. Basically, there were some bugs in NotSo that have been annoying me for a long time, and I had a feeling that if I wanted these bugs fixed, I'd need to eventually do it myself. My prediction came true, since Disch discontinued the plugin, that meant the bugs weren't getting fixed.

The main thing here is that I've ported the code to Dev-C++, from VC++. So I needed to change some routines here and there. Please let me know if I've broken anything in the process.

Here's the changes, directly from the readme:

0.852
- First release by Drag! Huzzah!

** Technical **
- The code is no longer being compiled with VC++. It has been ported to Dev-Cpp now.

- All proprietary VC++ functions (VC++ has some special nonstandard functions that
other compilers and libraries don't have) have been changed or rewritten to normal
non-proprietary functions.

- In a related note, Winamp was crashing whenever I tried to play a song, after I
changed the code to compile with dev-cpp. Disch used __fastcall on most of the 6502
emulation code, and I guess dev-cpp handles it differently and in an incompatible
way compared to VC++. All instances of __fastcall have been removed, and now the
plugin works again, but it MAY be using more cpu power than before as a result.

- The filesize of the plugin is now bigger, but I'm sure that's because VC++ does
some optimizations by default when compiling, and I haven't messed around with
that yet.

** Less Technical **
- Notes played on the triangle channel will play for too long in some engines, due
to a glitch in the linear counter. Disch actually had a fix prepared for this for
a long time, but he never added it. (listen to RC Pro Am, and Atlantis no Nazo for
example.)

- The hardware decay envelope wouldn't reset immediately when new notes were played,
which means "bing" was more of a "wing" sometimes. This is fixed now. (listen
to Spelunker, Atlantis no Nazo, Dragon Warrior 1, Mario Bros, and Donkey Kong
for example.)

- The hardware sweep unit didn't reset its period cycle when its register was written
to. This is fixed, but you probably won't notice.

- When winamp was paused, and you press play or change tracks, the position resets
to the beginning, but the song remains paused until you press the pause button
again. This should be fixed now.

I like the 4th of July, because there are a lot of places to watch fireworks. I also like barbeques.

It's usually a fun day for me.

I also can hear CRTs, even with no signal. I just got used to it though.
I think I may have screwed up my ears or something, because I listen to the TV all day, and I hear the high-pitched sound it generates, and I think my ears got 'used' to it. If I were at college, where I use a flatscreen TV, I'd probably hear these better.

The highest I can reliably hear is 17.7kHz. 18.8kHz, I can hear, but only if it's loud. I feel bad, because I don't want to lose my ultrasonic hearing, I like being able to hear the ultrasonic tones. I never do anything bad to my hearing, either, I *never* blast music in my ears.

I flipped over my handlebars and chipped my two front teeth when I was in the 5th grade, but that's about as bad as it gets for me. I've never broken any bones.

And yeah, that looks terrible, like your foot came unattached from your leg.

...that's fixable, right?

It's more likely bots than anything else, they really should disable editing for unregested users, or have more sysops protecting the wiki.

I was about to say the same thing. It looks EXACTLY like spambots. Spambots don't know what they're submitting. They just fill in the fields and click submit. If anything, a CAPTCHA would help.

It's just like 2ch, this kind of nationalism really starts to get annoying after a while. However, it's part of the Japanese culture to want to be 'the best' or 'better than everyone else', which is fine, I guess, but when it leads to pointless nationalism, it's just meh.

I can understand if the author doesn't want anyone to use his asm hacks in a hack without his permission, but when he doesn't anyone who isn't Japanese to use the hacks, then that's just ridiculous.

And that's my Caucasian American opinion.
