It's not a badly written article, but I might have been biased based on your 'other' kind of humor. So I'm sorry if that lead to me not paying enough attention to the article. I can see the humor in it, but it didn't really make me fall out of my chair laughing or anything.
So yeah, I guess I'm probably that one person who you can't please. ____________________ |

Ok, my mom has a computer running vista. We have cable internet with a Linksys router that has a wireless-b network. My mom's computer was using a Linksys wireless-b USB adapter, and it would find our router, but when it connected to it (signal strength was always 'excellent'), it wouldn't connect to the internet. This adapter is kinda old, and we were thinking it was just wearing out.
We got a wireless-G PCI adapter (specifically, Linksys WMP54G), and it's installed in my mom's computer, and the USB wireless-b adapter is now unplugged. Now my mom's computer can't locate any wireless networks whatsoever. "Windows can't find any networks", and Linksys's utility says "Cannot associate with the access point". I think the router does broadcast the ssid. The router is in my room, and it's against the inner wall. My mom's computer (and the adapter) is one floor below my room, and one room in front of my room, against the farther wall (not the wall mine's against), so the distance between the router and the adapter isn't all that far. The adapter's antenna, is along the back of the computer tower, with the tip of it about an inch and a half above the top of the computer, against (close to, not actually physically touching) a wall, and the tower is on the floor, lower than where the USB adapter was. My mom's laptop (with a wireless B/G card) can connect to the router in around the same area as the G adapter, but we tested this in a different room, but the area is the same, and is even farther away from the router. So in both windows and the linksys monitor, I entered the ssid, the wep key, all that stuff, and nothing can get the router to find the router. What's wrong? ____________________ |

B and G are compatible with each other, and the G adapter itself says (on the box) that it is compatible with B routers. ____________________ |

I have the rom, and I feel it's nice to finally have it. By no means did I ever think I *deserved* it, seeing as how I've done nothing to do so. When BMF first said he had the rom, I was excited, and I asked him if I could get a copy, and of course he said no. After a few "come on! "'s, I eventually just gave up and respected BMF's promise to not give it out, and that was the end from it for me.
Yes, I have the rom now. The methods used to get the rom available were questionable, but since it wasn't me who did it, I don't feel guilty about having the rom. I do feel bad for the collector who's trust was violated, and I feel bad for BMF, who probably only obtained the rom after hard work, but he's not the one who leaked it, I'm not the one who leaked it, so I don't feel guilty. So in short, I feel bad for certain parties involved, but I don't feel bad for just simply having the rom in my possession. I don't like hoarding, but I respect people's decisions to do so. Ask BMF, I asked for the rom a few times, and then I never said a word on the subject again. And since when did 30+ people in IRC have the rom? Maybe after it got leaked, but certainly not beforehand. All this arguing is pointless, it's turning into flame wars, everyone's trying to impose guilt-trips on everyone. The leaking and releasing was the wrong thing to do, feel guilty about it or not, no matter what, it was wrong. We have the rom now, woo-hoo, be happy. Also, Sonic X-Treme doesn't have any actual prototype. All of it is just tech demos everyone would get bored with after minutes. If anything, be greatful that protos of it haven't been leaked, because now you still can be interested about it. So can we drop this now? ____________________ |

I own a copy of MMF, which is the successor of the successor of K&P. I also had a (non-pirated) serial for TGF, making me kinda own it.
I'd say, you could start with Scratch, and then move on to MMF or something. Scratch would make the person familiar with telling the computer to do things, and the super god-like feeling of making something on the computer. And then MMF would be to get the person familiar with what goes in games and such. Focusing on the game itself, instead of the programming. Then later, when it's time to use the big-boy toys, the person would know what to program to make the game. ____________________ |

I think the game still uses CHR RAM for graphics, like what DDP does, since it runs on the FDS.
In that case, the graphics could literally be anywhere, in any format. ____________________ |

That's why you make your own.
In my later games, I always made my own platform engine. ____________________ |

Ok, so a few days after I entered this tournament, Comcast left a note on our door, telling us they'll be working in our area for a few days, upgrading the system to fiber optic, and that we might experience a temporary loss of service, lasting up to a day.
And yeah, said outage happened (wednesday), and then it stormed. So then thursday, we lost service again (maybe they couldn't finish because of the storm), and it came back. Ever since the initial outage, my connection has been really laggy and crappy. If my connection doesn't improve within the next few days, I might be forced to drop out of this tournament. This is such bullshit, my connection was just fine a few days ago, and ever since the work started, everything's been laggy and shitty. And I had less than 24-hours notice of the maintenance. My SNR (signal noise ratio) is fluctuating at times. It normally hangs around 32dB, but lately it's dropped to 27-29dB, fluctuating in that range, sometimes getting back up to 30dB. ____________________ |

Now to put that quote into context, I was using "Hugh" as my avatar, who is an anthro cat thing, and I was making fun of myself because I looked like a furry or something. ____________________ |

Maybe the Clickteam products need another plugin system that allows you to use external engines, if you don't like the built-in ones, so you don't have to make your own. ____________________ |

Posted by Dwedit Same here, but C++. But I'll be completely honest here, whenever I want to make a platform game, I remember the elements I put into my games in TGF/MMF. It really had an effect on me, seriously. I'm actually pretty sad that all of my TGF/MMF projects are on my old HD which needs to be recovered (and thus is inaccessible right now ) ____________________ |

Well, here's the thing. Comcast scheduled a tech guy to come out and give us a new router / check our connection on Tuesday.
In the mean time, Tanks suggested that I just turn the router off for longer than just one minute, so I did for ten minutes, and so far, my SNR has stayed up. I mean, it's dipped a little bit at times, but I'm maintaining a connection at least, whereas before, my connection would drop after just 5 minutes. Things might actually be looking up now. Of course, this all might also be because it's starting to become night time. In my experience, all internet connections seem to get better at night. ____________________ |
