Yeah, I was wondering why the cart even mattered in the first place. The only thing is that whenever Okibi's credibility comes up, everyone falls back to the "he didn't send Supergun the cart" speculation, which is just pure rumor, and there is absolutely ZERO proof backing it up.

The only way we can tell if the rom is real or not is by winning the next contest he offers the rom to.

Yes, your PSU doesn't have enough power to power up all of your peripherals, for some reason, and like HyperHacker said, it's most likely because it's dying. Either that or you recently added more hardware, and your PSU isn't strong enough to handle it.

What's the point of this video?

Way to go, you can exaggerate facts and present them one after another in such a way to exaggerate the context. Good job. College organizations (as in ones that bash the circus for accidents, and ones that bash petsmart and stuff for having puppy 'factories', and other such stupid things) use this all the time.

In short, it's just a bunch of "lolshock" propaganda in order to bash something...

Ok, taking a huge recap on what happened here...

Z3 prototype discovered. There's an article on it. However, there have been many z3 prototypes that were hoaxes. So of course a lot of people will be... less than willing to believe that "this time" is the real thing.

So there's this contest where the prize is the rom. We download the fake rom, because we think it's actually the rom, instead of just a hint. It's fake, oh no, so yeah, we declare it as a hoax. Then later, we find out about step 2, so that wasn't the prize. So maybe the rom is real? We won't know unless we try to win, so that's what a few of us do. Granted, there are still a lot of users who don't believe it.

So we get to the end, the end is really difficult. Nobody wins the contest. So what happens? Everyone left and right declares the rom as a hoax, and starts attacking Okibi.

There's really no point in arguing this because I doubt anyone will change their minds, but losing the contest didn't prove the rom was a fake. What MIGHT prove the rom as a fake is if we WON the contest, and the winner never received the rom. But that didn't happen. We just flat out didn't win, and thus, nobody got the rom. Nothing was proved.

But yes, it's annoying how so many people are just so bent on arguing that he's a liar, it's a hoax, etc, when in reality, there's no proof to back it up. Hell, even if he did post some screenshots, a lot of people would still call them fake.

Also, there's a huge flaw with how we've been handling this. We've been *expecting* proof out of him, but has anyone actually ASKED him for an ingame screenshot or something?

Amazing! The attack doesn't phase the woman at all! She speaks with the same reading-the-headlines voice throughout the whole thing!

Also, those 3d graphics are incredibly corny.

Yeah, I admit, I don't know how the government in Asia works, and I don't know which countries start with an X, and I don't know how many cubic centimeters the pacific ocean is either. I guess that means I'm as dumb as a brick, huh?

Yeah, I'm really stupid. I'm a huge retarded idiot, despite my knowledge of assembly for two, possibly three families of CPUs, 5 programming languages, binary logic, electronics, and video game analysis. Yeah, I'm sorry that I can't be smarter, rest of the world, I really owe you guys a lot for it. Feel free to call me a giant idiot every time you see me, I guess I deserve it.

Where did they conduct this survey? And even then, they probably only used the wrong answers. For one thing, I wouldn't know half of the questions they'd ask me, because GUESS WHAT? I DON'T GIVE A RAT FUCK ABOUT POLITICS, so of course I'm not going to know who's in charge everywhere. I do know enough geography to be able to place most territories roughly in the area where they actually are, instead of dumping everything onto Australia.

And it's dumbass grade-A biased bashing that makes me care EVEN LESS about politics. If you want me to care about what's going on in your country, then stop giving me reasons to want to disregard everything you say.

So yes. I know America's image is bad in most of the world. I'm fully aware of this, and as a result, I'm not leaving the country. I never had plans on leaving the country, and I'm especially not going to make any plans on leaving the country any time soon. That way, everyone will be saved from my HUGE OBESE OVEREATING HABITS, and my RIDICULOUSLY RETARDED STUPIDITY.

Yeah, sorry for the huge overreaction, I've been a lot more irritable lately, because of college issues which I will not be explaining further.

Also, if we're so dumb, why can't foreigners drive in the US correctly?

As long as the server allows connections on alternative IRC ports, because I can't connect to IRC servers on port 6667 when I'm at school.

Also, the espersplits don't really bother me that much. I mean, when they happen, they happen a lot, but after an espersplit incident, the server will be good for a while.

Besides, it seems like it's almost always cosmos that splits. If we all avoid connecting there, I think maybe the splits won't affect us as often.

It's a really crappy death too.

I really hope Mateusz is planning on a Submachine 5. If he is, I dunno if he's started work on it, but if he hasn't, I'd really like to see more of that ship. (I dunno why... it just has a creepy atmosphere (especially the ambient background sounds in it))

I was thinking one of us should try making a game like this, but a weird thing with me is I want to try making just about every game I've seen.

Yes! I figured out what the trick to it is!

I don't know who would need more than that 4x4 pattern, since it offers 15 intermediate steps, equating to 17 shades, but just in case, the entire thing is 100% recursive, and it always follows that pattern. (straight, diagonal, straight, diagonal)

So yeah, I figured something out today.

I was going through my online stuff and found my minipic. I completely forgot we used them...

Gateway.

My previous computer was a Dell, but it died after 5 years (a power flicker did *something* to make XP have an "Unmountable_boot_volume" bsod at boot-up, so I went into the recovery console and tried 'fixboot', and it completely hosed my boot sector, making my HD unusable, unless I use some disk commander or something)

Before that, I had a laptop (compaq presario something), but it wore out after a year.

Before that, I had a Monorail.

Before that, some kind of crappy generic IBM that my dad gave to me because he got a new computer.

Before that (we're at 1995 now), a Macintosh Performa 550 (which still works, and I still have)

Before that, a Commodore 128 (My brother's. He got a new dos/win3.1 computer)

Before that, an Apple IIgs (which later got replaced by the C128 above)

I think that's everything...

Then how does a thread get from "Example Forum A" to "Trash Can"?

Magic that's so awesome, it's impossible to imagine.

Also, I'm curious as to how the original cart owner will react to this...

I might be more excited about this, if it weren't for the fact that the owner of said proto entrusted the ROM to someone on the grounds that it would NOT be released without his permission (which was only a matter of time, really). Being an impatient bastard and throwing the ROM out there without his knowledge OR permission was a really, really low thing to do, and may have burned some bridges that can never be repaired.

(before any of you start flaming me and calling me a hoarder, please note that I have a rather...unique perspective on this situation)

I understand what you're saying, and I do feel bad for the original cart owner since his trust was broken, and I'm glad that it wasn't me that did this. However, this isn't going to keep me from enjoying the prototype. I was wondering what his reaction was going to be to this, because I know he's going to be a bit upset, and depending on how he reacts, I might think twice about making the rom re-available if it gets taken down.

However, I do get a little frusterated when people reveal that they have prototypes that they won't be sharing. For example, Marble Madness II: Marble Man, and the z3 prototype (if it's real, that is). I mean, they'd prevent a lot of future headaches to many people if they just kept quiet about their prototypes, unless they decided to share them.

I also am sticking with XP.

Those Mac ads are really arrogant, and they remind me of my ex-roommate who had a Mac and thought it must be better than my computer because it was 'top of the line'. (yeah, let's not take cpu speed and ram size into account )
