That was pretty simple. Just had to e-mail him. 
Anyway, step 5. Anyone have a decoder ring? Edit: And the answer to this step must also be e-mailed. Edit 2: Ok, I emailed him the answer. After the collective efforts of the IRC channel, we've decoded the message, and it contains a simple instruction. I won't reveal it, though. ____________________  |

Well, the instruction says to translate that phrase in English and email him what it says. It doesn't say anything about trying to find the meaning behind it, so I emailed him what it said.

He told me to figure out the rest (because I only sent him the translated old Hylian part), so I sent him the entire translated message. Now I just need to wait for him to reply again. ____________________ |

I got it, and yeah, apparently we need to figure out some kind of meaning to the translated message. I'm thinking about sending him my idea about Link being a silent protagonist ("Zelda freak (link) knows more than he tells", but he never "tells" anything, so yeah, duh)
So yeah, does anyone have any better ideas, or should we go with that as a first try? ____________________ |

Ok, I just now sent it to him, but who knows how long it'll be before he checks his email again. 
The suspense is a killer... At first, we were saying "nah, this is phoney, a way to get attention", and now a lot of us are on the edges of our seats since we're so close. ____________________ |

I got a small amount of snow last night too. This is crazy. It sucks because I thought it was going to STAY warm, so I brought all of my long pants back home. Looks like I might need to pick them back up tomorrow (Easter dinner).

Ok, my response wasn't the answer. He says that he's not sure if I understand what's being asked of me, and that I need to go over the step's info again.
In the original email, he said that the image (with the Hylian in it) contains a question, a hint and "something else". I'm kinda lost as to what he wants. Any ideas? ____________________ |

I'm waiting for a VB emulator that supports sound. (And isn't Mac only  )
That and I have 3d glasses, so I can play it in 3d.

I just looked over this whole contest again. In the first page of the contest, it says:
We answered that question, and we didn't get the grand prize. We got a fake rom. So then our next step was to enter "itsafake.php" into the address bar. Then we got step 2. That's misleading. It doesn't say anywhere that we'd need to answer 6 riddles. So did we answer that one single question, or is it still unanswered? Either way, I'm guessing that to answer step 5, we need to focus on "zelda freak knows more than he tells". Who's this zelda freak? Maybe he's not part of the game. Was he the original seller of this game? Zelda freak knows more about WHAT than he tells? I really have no idea about anything here. ____________________ |
