I think the subtitle needs proper lining up, with the 'g' and 'y' down a few pixels as they should, typographically speaking, be.
As for Koala's gradient suggestion, I'd think that'd be a mess of dithering. Yousei released a fair editor that included text, fonts, I think sprites and the overworld, there's a seperate area map editor that I think includes tileset editing... that only leaves scripts, and I think I saw some disassembler dealy on that topic years ago.
