Your advice was no help at all. Here's some of my own: using sprite sheets from the internets to draw your edits on (as you showed in Modern Art) is a fairly bad idea -- a lot of tiles may be shared among animation frames.

Did you know that not only is Zero's ponytail animated seperately, but that the ponytail tiles also contains bits of his body? Also, notice how this demonstrates another important reason not to depend on sheets too much: his helmet and knuckles are seperated.

Editing the available moves is right out. You can't just waltz in there and implement air dash, double jump or a combo system.

Slightly less far-fetched is changing sounds and music. Assuming the Zero series uses the music engine I think it uses, sound samples are raw wave data and we have ample music changing experience -- just ask the Pokémon hackers.

Zero's appearance is a given. The cutscenes might be a problem if they're compressed, but that's not a very big problem.

Not so smart. What I meant was that thanks to Pokémon hacking, we have an intricate knowledge of the common GBA music engine.

The only problem is to to adjust the tiles properly. That´s is the only problem I assume.

You assume correctly. That's why I export blocks of tiles from TM to PaintShop and back. I'd use TM exclusively, but this allows me more editing freedom. (think selections)

So, I guess you have sucessfully refilled the tiles?

No, I only stated a theory. I don't have any Japanese versions to put it into practice with.

Update: I did some quick checks on the music. I now have all I need to put Zero's Theme from MMX in all four games.

You do realise that, for character graphics, you'd be best off with a graphics editor, right? Say, Tile Molester?

I mean, sure, you get Tile Layer Pro with EliteMap, but downloading a Pokémon editor (no matter which one) to "try it first with a mario game" is NOT a good idea.
