You don't -need- EliteMap (or AM for that matter) to edit OP though. Mostly because -maps- don't quite follow the same format. But you get a much better replacement editor for that.

Changes: attributes are in tileset so map can have the full 16-bit range for tiles

OpenPoké's map editor can import ExMap files from EM. I used this to quickly get a test area up before Darkdata got recruited.

No idea on the progress though.

It needs to be sorted properly though. Looks like crap when going vertical.

Also, we now have a cursor beep sound in the Sappy soundpack. (load FR in Sappy, note offset, copypaste values to TextPad, edit until mushy)

Indeed so. You don't use a table though.

What the editors do is start from the zero offset in ROM and interpret all data as if they're tiles. This means crappy static-like data. You scroll in tile increments, normally, and if they don't line up just right (which -will- happen), you use different scrolling keys/buttons to go byte by byte instead of tiles. This helps align the data.

Something that's been on the OpenPoké wish list since the beginning is trading with the original games. But to do that, one would require the protocol.

So far, we've got a VBALink log, a truckload of rather vague disassembly (including an equally vague decompilation by Cearn) and a routine to convert regular monsters to OP style (the difference being ASCII names and no encryption).

Anything to get this going is appreciated.

I'm a jerk that used the wrong table to look for the monster names. They -are- being sent, u16 by u16.

sirhax0r, that wasn't very helpful at all. You basically restated everything I already knew and said, except for the program part which requires perfect timing or the game locks up with a communication error!

Update: I found that data is sent in chunks of seven u16 values, followed by a mystery value and a terminator that's 0x8888 if there's more or 0x0000 if you're done.
