Lately, I've found myself growing fonder of the Castlevania soundtracks. Specifically those of Lament of Innocence and Symphony of the Night. I could listen to those all day. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Gonna rehash my request from SMRPG hacking: please stop when you reach the framework's inner workings. "Daiz.NES.Reuben.ProjectView.TrvProjectView_DoubleClick(Object sender, EventArgs e)" is the last relevant part.
In other related news, isn't it great how exception names aren't translated? I can tell from the exception name, the '75' and the topmost method in the call stack that it's trying to set a spinner to an off-band value, probably too high. I can't promise a fix, but I can promise an investigation. Update: LevelEditor.cs, line 261
ItemTransparency is 75. NumSpecials ranges from 0 to 1. I suppose this should've been scaled? But do I set it to ItemTransparency / 100 (so it becomes 0.75, which is in range) or do I set NumSpecials.Maximum to 100, so it becomes a percentage? I'm gonna try the former first. Update: I've just played my first testing level, and what I used seems to be working fine. ...but I don't think you should place a goal card in the top left corner: It seems gravity is not an issue when Mario grabs it. Update: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=3984 <-- most recent build as of just now. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Posted by Fx3When you make a new project, notice how it asks for a file name to save as -- an .rbn file. When you're done with a level or world map, click the Save button, the blue floppy disk, just under "Debug". ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

You've got your project, and you've got your ROM. Reuben does not edit the ROM, only the project. When you pick Project/Compile, you gotta enter a file to save as, yes?
That should be an existing file. Specifically, the Reuben base ROM, or an earlier compilation. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

On the GBA, the above process is easy.
If the data you found is at, say, location 0x2B1CDC, you swap each two-digit pair: "2B,1C,DC" becomes "DC,1C,2B". Add a "08" in the back to get "DC1C2B08". That, you can look for. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

08 is the bank part of the pointer. It's not a command.
Your ROM file is mapped into the GBA's memory at 0x08000000, so to refer to file offset 0x123456, the game must refer to memory offset 0x08123456 instead. Since the GBA and PC are both in little endian byte order, the least significant byte (0x56) goes first. On a Motorola and other big endian systems, 0x08123456 would be stored literally as the byte sequence 08 12 34 56, but on the PC and GBA, it's stored as 56 34 12 08. What usually happens is that the game will load some offset into a register ( ldr r4, =0x8341520 for example), then use that register somehow. For example, to load the second 32-bit value from file offset 0x341520:
ldr r0, =0x8341520 ; Mind the bank offset!
This is basically equivalent to r2 = r1[1]; in C, if you named your variables after registers. One way to get this effect in a practical example:
const short lut[] = { 0x0000, 0x0100, 0x1200 ...
Just image lut[] ended up stored at file offset 0x341520. TL;DR: look for ldr commands. I suggest you get a copy of IDA, get to know it, and use that. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Fixes the bug where toggling the start position indicator doesn't refresh the level view if you have pointer display disabled at the time. I'm planning to go over all the forms and other control containers in the project to give it sensible tab ordering, and making sure forms that shouldn't be resizable aren't. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Thanatos, thank you for inspiring me to finally get off my lazy ass and do this. Really.
I'd like to humbly request that you and pixel artists like you stop calling four color graphics "8-bit". 8-bit graphics would be up to 256 colors. What you're talking about is "2-bit" and "4-bit" respectively. Now, I know damn well why people call it "8-bit" graphics -- it's because the system the graphics are from is 8-bit, isn't it? Well, the SNES was a 16-bit machine, and as anyone who has looked into editing the status bar in SMW can tell you, it too had a four-color mode -- SMW's status bar, and that of endless other games, was as 2-bit as the NES's graphics were. So please, if you can, stop conflating the graphical bitdepth and that of the machines those graphics are used on. For quick reference, here's a handy list: * Two colors, one bit. * Four colors, two bits. * Eight, three bits. * Sixteen, four bits. * 256, eight. * Highcolor or thousands (no longer uses a palette), 16 or 24 bit. * Truecolor or millions, 32 bit. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

I never said I wanted to persuade all the others. Just you and others I know.
I'd be happy with a compromise of "four colors" though. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |

Good morning gentlemen! Due to the lackluster response this time 'round, the presentation budget has been cut in half. That's why there's only a single spotlight on stage and I don't get a lovely assistant to make quips with. And some categories have to be left out entirely because either noone voted for 'em or there's noone there with more than one vote. So if I leave out a category, that's why.
But frankly, I don't give a damn. I'm like Leeroy Jenkins up in here, grit my teeth and just go "let's do this". So without further ranting, here's the remains. Best ROM Hacker - SePH and Quick Curly, it seems. A bunch of other guys, including yours truly, only got one vote each. Best Programmer 1st - Blackhole89, for some obscure reason I can't fathom. 2nd - Giangurgolo, for somewhat more clear reasons. 3rd - Matrixz and me. Best Staff Member 1st - KP9000 and me. We rock! Woohoo! 2nd - Blackhole89 and Trelior. They also rock, but not as much. Makes you wonder why. 3rd - Ailure and Giangurgolo. I have no idea why that is. Best Regular Member 1st - Xeruss! With a reasonable distance from 2nd - GreyMario. Interesting, considering his history. Very interesting, and hope-inspiring. Several other people got one vote each. Best Veteran 1st - KP9000 and me again! Yeah! 2nd - Blackhole again, but no Trel this time. 3rd - Nick and zbyte. Best Newbie is an odd one. Most of these are one vote each, and the only one with more than one vote isn't a newbie at all! Just mentioning that. Best Post Layout 1st - KP9000, even though it's based on 2nd - GreyMario's, so that's interesting. At least to me. 3rd - Trelior and me. Best Avatar 1st - KP9000 and me again! How do we do this!? 2nd - Blackhole89, CyclopsCaveman and Thanatos-Zero Funniest 1st - GreyMario, and I have no idea why. 2nd - Nick and me. Seriously, if I had one more vote or he one less, I wouldn't need to share this spot with him. 3rd - Flan. I really don't get you people. Friendliest 1st - Trelior. Which is more understandable than some of the above. Or below. 2nd - ME! Because you can't be a jerk 24/7. 3rd - Ailure (?), Blackhole89 (!?) and Googie (oh) Smartest 1st - Blackhole89, by a long shot. I blame the math. 2nd - KP9000. He wants to make me a coder for Board2, that should tell you enough. Most Likely to Appear at Random 1st - If you meet Gywall on the road, kill him. 2nd - Blackhole89, Emuz, Knuck and Stark. Now, aside from BH, I can dig this. Most Missed 1st - Sukasa, and I think I can agree. 2nd - DahrkDaiz or however you spell it and Stark. 3rd - Anya! ...and Paulguy? What?! Most Eloquent 1st - Oh come on take a guess. 2nd - Stark's a good runner-up, though she'd likely disagree. 3rd - Kironide. I dunno... Most Mysterious 1st - Ailure and Blackhole89. One is never even here and the other is a Russian. This seems obvious. 2nd - iLove6502, RT-55J and me. Wow, don't I feel mysterious now. Most Quirky 1st - HELLO EVERYNYAN! 2nd - NovaYoshi. He out-furries me like a baws, but it seems that's not enough. 3rd - Ailure and Trelior. Too bad, guys. Be quirkier. Most Insane 1st - See "Most Quirky" above 2nd - Flan, for obvious reasons. Most Down to Earth KP9000 wins this handily by virtue of one-votes. And how right that is. Most Likely to Get Hit by a Parked Car 1st - MMXPert, by a landslide. It seems everyone wants to drive these days. 2nd - Pyratrooper. Most Likely to Succeed 1st - Blackhole89. Succeed at what, though? 2nd - Kironide, Xeruss and me. Again, what at? Most Professional 2nd - Blackhole89, which I guess everyone could've seen coming. 1st - Me! And if you've been paying attention... poor BH Most Reclusive - Ailure, and again the reasons are as obvious as your parentage. Most Likely to Become Staff - Stark was staff and left, numbnuts! Most likely to be severely beaten with their own keyboard Please refer to the parked car and replace Pyratrooper with Haz. Most likely to become a total brony 1st - Trelior and GreyMario. Saddle up, fellas. I'll be happy to show you the ropes. 2nd - Blackhole89 (snrrrf!), MMXPert (there is not enough love and tolerance in the world for that) and NightKev (okay that could work) Most Unpredictable - GreyMario and NightKev. I beg to differ, but hey, that's vox populi for ya. And the Best Overall are Trelior, BH and me. Thank you for that. ____________________ Wife make lunch - Shampoo Opera - give it a spin Spare some of your free time? <GreyMaria> I walked around the Lake so many goddamn times that my sex drive was brutally murdered Kawa rocks — byuu |
