That depends on the game. As you can see from the screenshot on the Lunar Compress page, there are several options, and that program only supports some of them.

Also, it's "how would the data be (de)compressed", not the whole rom. It'd be silly.

Edit: one thing that you might like is that the page lists MegaMan X as supported.

Again, you're stating things that just aren't right. Lunar Compress is a (de)compression tool. You take compressed data from a rom and decompress it to an easily editable external file, then compress it and put it back.

"Removing the compression" in any game would imply taking the compressed data, putting it back uncompressed, then editing the game itself to use the uncompressed data as-is. Though possible, this will be different for each game.

As for supporting Mega Man IV, if it's not supported by Lunar Compress now, it probably never will be. On the other hand, if you somehow figure out the compression specifics of that game, you're free to write your own similar tool.

So, if I understood correctly, you get more freedom in level layouts and graphics, and that's basically it, right? So if you want to have some random but relatively simple feature that was in Mario Adventure, you'd still have to hack it in yourself.

That does not answer the question. The question was basically "how does the game manage to do so much with so little time and space", while the SGI equipment (which I dare not claim otherwise, mind you) was only used to create the graphics in the first place. There's nothing special about that.

To elaborate, the rom must be adapted to support the new data, but the editor does not actually apply these adaptations itself yet. The "only fully working rom" Dahrk speaks of was adapted by hand.

I think Tile Molester has a rough conversion thing going, where if you try to insert, say, sixteen-color images into a NES rom, it'll try to fit it into those four colors. Quality is a problem, ofcourse.

Since it's a file upload field, when you load the Edit Profile page, it will be blank. This is by design and not a site bug. When you submit your changes, the board code checks if a file was chosen. If so, it uploads said file to the site's user pictures bin. If not, nothing happens to whatever userpic you had before.

As for the PNG you uploaded, was it 100x100? If it's too large, it'll be scaled down, which eats the transparency. This is not as much a bug as simply a different resizing approach from what Jul does. It can be circumvented by resizing it yourself, then uploading the edited version.


Incidentally, staff can have >100px userpics, in case you wondered.
