A friend of mine and I are making a relatively major Cave Story hack, to which we're generally planning it out, and he's making guessing games on what abouts the game can do. (Generally I'm just REALLY good with it's TSC script, and know only a small, referable amount of other things, such as weapon hacking, for example.)
Anyways, there's a few things he'd like to do that are by all means above what the original game would do. However, the only roadblock is seemingly small, but nobody knows how to get over them. Assuming you've at least played Cave Story, here's what he'd like: -- During the end of the game, the player is greeted by nicely drawn credit images that only (and can only) show up during the credits. Fortunately, I'm able to easily trick the game into this by having the credits end when they begin, unless a flag is on. UNfortunately, what the credits tend to do is turn the left-half of the screen the same color as the game's fade effect; generally a dark-dark blue. (The game see's pure 000000 black as a transparent color. This is something fluent with everything in the game, and doesn't matter.) Now, additional to this half-screen fade (Used by the original game for an effect in the 2nd half of the credits), the credit images themselves come as another hard-coded problem. The images, no matter what size they are when changed in resource hacker, are always limited to the same size and side as the half-fade effect done by the credits. So, the general bottom-line problem we need help with is a means for fixing these problems: - The half-fade we don't want, as it's useless to us - The images we want to be able to take up the whole screen; and, if possible, to have the direction they slide in from to be either removed, or changed to upward-from-bottom. - Thank you in advance, if you can grasp what we need. |

Switching to hex came as theory from playing SRB2; as it uses hexadecimal after the 99th map number. ( 99, A0, A1 ... A9, B0 ...)
And Ironically, it did accept CREDIT100. I hadn't tried it before, having guessed it either wouldn't work, was limited to only 8-symbol lengths, or would instead accept it as CREDIT10; completely neglecting the additional 0. Well, that's one problem down; but that was hardly the major problem. |

Initial game runs things from a simple TSC command of
As far as the game works; other than using a hex editor, it does not use hexadecimal; it works with numbers between 0 and 9999, unless limited otherwise. (For example, skip flags only go up to 0099) In any case, the amount of credit images no longer matters; I suppose ASM is required for the rest of it. |

Basically quoting topics from the fraxy fan-forum that... hardly anyone goes on. Anywho, I'd like better feedback that smilies and gibberish, so... Earliest creations are first. Earlier creations I don't give a damn about the player's life/death status, later ones I do, more and more-so. My Best boss, personally, is Shadow_of_a_Reaper, which is located at the very bottom of the 'list'. More to come as I make it, ofcourse

I'm pretty sure nobody gives a damn either way. What's WoW's "Slogan"? If they don't have one, then zomg y do they have bajillion plyrz!?!?
Even further, we as a community do not own fraxy, nor are we ones to want to put words into Fraxy's creator's mouth. Hell, Slogans just make things look plain stupid. It's like slogan'ing Lunar Magic with "Hack mario's brains out." Is anyone going to care for the slogan? Is anyone going to publically mention the slogan? Slogans in products are meant to be something to get into ones head for public conversation, and remembering the product so you mention it to others. This just in: Some people don't give a damn about video games, and a slogan isn't going to change their minds. If you like shmups, you'll adore Fraxy; there's no need to say anything further. |

A week without comments. Joy. Speechless? Or is the forum always this slow-moving?

You'd be surprised to find that it happens to be my "easiest" boss; one in which you can actually kill it without getting killed yourself. Certainly the needle rain in its final form is a pest with the more recent changes to player-ships in Fraxy, but in testing with the older player-scheme, Attacker was unharmed by needles, and the Normal merely needed to stop attacking/dashing. It is also to be noted that my computer's a horribly slow piece of carp, whose video card is some penny-cheap mass of wiring; at least in a form they could sell it, anyway. So generally, I'd end up with under 10FPS, all of which is caused by the player-ship's bullets, ironically. Certainly in a faster setting than my own, the boss would prove a challenge; but that's the whole point of the scenario: a challenge -- 'revenge' against Eboshidori; and you can certainly tell in the video that Ebo enjoyed fighting it: Rather than moving in a single direction, and perhaps taping an alternate direction to evade, he instead entertained the watching audience. Or at least that's what I assume, anyway. ; Regardless, the primary spite of difficulty in this creation (and Acerbatus) was that of length. Eboshidori said so himself that he needed to use Level 3 weapon settings to get the boss within youtube limits. At level 1 weapons, the fight can last from 20 minutes to a half hour. And as per ego in the initial post: It was a lure to force viewers who'd otherwise skip over with a faint nod. |

Posted by BoxorakPosted by ZarroTsu Topic is Fraxy challenge: ZarroTsu vs Eboshidori. We each build a boss, and people vote on the winner when both bosses are complete. So compare my bosses with Ebo's, and ask yourself which are better, and by how much. The challenge will determine a fact between them. Furthermore, challenges in the past have proved to be fickle, pointless blinks to have Ebo make a new boss by the challenger's rules. All bosses in the past to face him? Immensely low quality. My own bosses? (Avoiding overexaduration or ego) Immensely high. So you need to ask yourself: Is Eboshidori truly the best Fraxian? |

Nope, this is happening to me as well; none of my music files have spaces. It plays the initial, set-as-default music, then refuses to play another. If the default music is blank, it'll play the first random track, then no other. It's a problem with auto-change music, alright... |

Aren't you late by... FOREVER and a half?
I mean... You're well aware it's coming to WiiWare soon, right? Similarly, There is a remix project out since years ago, and I DARE SAY THIS ONE'S THE BEST REMIX EVAH (And I mean of any remix ever made ever. Maybe "Holy Judgement" could top it, but only barely.) Posted by Raibys And this is entirely useless if you want a time under 3 mins (I've gotten 2'59"2), or if you're playing through hell with only 3HP. (Entirely possible, I've done this too.) |

Posted by Boxorak -> Humans created machines, as a tool to achieve a task at a much more proficient rate than normal. ("Killing each other" Included.) -> Humans created gods; a universal reflection upon ones opinion of perfection. Technically, gods are more imperfect than humans, as different perspectives actually cancel each other out. All that jazz. And by general terms, SD would be considered "Fallen" by the sole purpose that she wished to become human. Metaphysical -> Physical = Ohshitwereallgonnadie |

The latter. Think of a drawing coming to life. A good example, albeit childish, would be the Sponge Bob episode, "Doodle Bob" |

The creation surpassed destructive potential of the original, and said creation plotted to live amidst the reality of the original, additionally plotting to destroy both the original, and anyone else. |
