necro post, but I believe I am the first person to legitimately beat IWBTG on Impossible (after well over 150 tries -- possibly pushing 1000 [damn you, Zakraid, for NOT DYING FAST ENOUGH]). the only person to have cleared it on impossible (at the time) had a second instance of IWBTG running which he used to practice sequences repeatedly, which some people did count as cheating.

...needless to say, I'm proud of my little one-life-run of IWBTG. I've done it one time more, and then stopped playing it altogether.

they're probably still on my old computer (if they're still there - it was months ago that I did this), but I will NOT be able to do this while recording by any conventional means due to intermittent lag which throws me completely out of sync (and to my doom)

also, I died more to Zakraid than to THE GUY. how's that for irony?

well...
Spoiler:
Galacta Knight in MetaKnightmare Ultra is a joke (hero call spam), but is a pain in the ass in TTA. Marx Nightmare (TTA Marx) is more of a joke.

also, this game is longer than the SNES original version. and the touch screen is a godsend in some parts (no longer a luck-based mission in The Arena's first boss - you can see what the first boss in the sequence is now).

okay, for the musically inclined, I have two games/engines (call them what you want):

StepMania, which is an engine capable of simulating games such as Dance Dance Revolution and Pump It Up. for those that know about it, In The Groove used a modified version of the StepMania engine. (note: you'll need to get/make your own *.sm files and matching MP3's. not that hard, given the built-in editor)

For those that play BeatMania IIDX a LOOOOOT, the best LEGAL* equivalent on the PC would be Lunatic Rave 2, a Japanese-made Be-Music Script (BMS) player. BeatMania is basically a DJ game where you play an instrument not too different to a percussion pad with a turntable attatched. every keypress or turntable scratch produces a sound, and playing the notes correctly will have the song sound correct, since the notes you play are PART OF THE SONG. (note: you'll need to acquire your own BMS files and matching KEYSOUNDS (which are made of a LOT of wav files). you'll also have some issues with getting the JUKEBOX settings right - drag and drop a "group" folder (which has 1 level of subfolders that contain your BMS and KEYSOUND files in them) into the white field on the config screen. if that doesn't get the songs recognized, try one of the three buttons under that white field. make a thread if problems persist.)

* - Running an arcade version of IIDX on anything BUT the actual arcade cabinet is illegal. yes, it's possible due to the more recent versions of IIDX running on a particular Windows XP version. no, I won't tell you how. don't ask.

The tutorial stage's sequence in Mirror's Edge can be broken in numerous different ways in both the demo and the full game. hell, even doing the wall-run in a specific manner (probably having to do with either distance or height, probably the height) can cause the tutorial to goof. there's quite a few videos on youtube JUST SHOWING HOW TO DO THIS.

(of course, the full game removes the point of this by allowing you to free-roam the tutorial stage after it's completion)

I still have floppy games from the ages of "MS-DOS". I know a Dragon's Lair game is among them.

also, has ANYONE here heard of a PS2 game by the name of "HyperSonic Xtreme"? it's pretty fun (or at least it was when I rented it a year or so ago), and apparently it's completely dropped off the radar and is no longer being sold at normal retailers (eBay and similar sites seem to be the only way to get the game now, and it's cheap from the looks of it). it's a futuristic racing game where the main selling point was the ability to make your own tracks (with more variety than TrackMania can).
