But did it happen as soon as you clicked "New Thread" like it used to in this version, or only when you submit it? If the flood control only kicked in when you submitted the thread, probably nobody even noticed as it takes some time to enter a post, especially when starting a thread as those posts tend to be longer, and you're entering a title as well as a post. (And with a poll, you're also entering all the poll choices.) |

Posted by Proto K I think if we have those, there should be the additional constraint that you can only be "using" one of them at a time. That would add a strategic element as to which one to equip at any given time. (And you can't change them every five seconds either.) Then again, what exactly are these for? Acmlm's: The Videogame? |

Not to mention alternating between Allman and K&R style of positioning the curly brackets (which will probably be Programming Poll #2). |

w00t! (Yeah, I know it's so 2002) I've already sent my first PM, to get my username changed. Now I'm Kernal instead of Eyeball Eaters (which was really dumb). |

Kernal was the spelling used by Commodore for its 8-bit computers (Vic-20, 64, 128, etc.). Yes, someone at Commodore got it wrong. |

The mall I used to go to had a calendar store, but it was only set up around Christmas time.
I can't remember what Hot Topic was next to there... |

How are they not Smarties when the wrapper says "SMARTIES" on it? |

Yeah, when I was learning C, EVERY book I saw used Allman style:
so I just got used to that style, and I think K&R style (with the left curly bracket at the end of the previous line but the right curly bracket on its own line) looks so...wrong. And unbalanced. I have a much harder time reading K&R-formatted code for some reason. Also, I tend to omit the curly brackets if there's only one statement. |

I've gotten huge amounts of viruses at a time before...for a while I had to reformat my hard drive every morning! A firewall fixed those problems though. |

A lot of programming languages have a data type called char or Char, usually for single characters, strings, or both. How do you pronounce this word?
I say it "char" like the English word "char", with a ch sound as in chicken, but I've also heard "care" and "car" as pronunciations. I understand "care" as it is the pronunciation of the first syllable of character, but where are people getting "car"? It sounds like a weird hybrid compromise pronunciation to me... |

Posted by Higsby Yeah, but people tend to ignore stickies. I don't know that keeping all the old posts is a good idea. Most edits are either fixing typos or bad code, or just adding something to a post. Are the old versions really necessary? |

Posted by Proto K HECK YEAH! 2002 and 2003 forever! (and probably 2001, but I wasn't around that early) Thos board has some element of the old days. Probably because of the lack...well, rarity of OMG TEH DRAMA. *throws Proto K a cake* |
