I always just turn the system sounds off. I find them highly annoying, especially on other people's laptops. Maybe it's because my parents have the earliest bedtimes of anyone in the universe and I was long accustomed to using the computer while they were asleep and so had to be quiet about it. |

Except DOS games (except by using Dosbox or similar). Windows XP has very poor DOS game support. |

Well, J is pronounced Y in some languages, including Polish as well as Czech, German, Swedish, and so on. I'm guessing joe is with the English J sound in this case though. |

Or the J in French, similar to English but softer, more like the s in vision. |

Posted by Doritokiller I rhyme the first syllable with cat. I just think it sounds better that way, I guess. |

Yeah, it means Katelyn's ex-girlfriend has been in your CD collection. |

Depends on what version of Windows it is. XP is pretty stable, for instance. 98, on the other hand... |

Yeah, I can't remember if I had 1st or 2nd edition, but when I had 98, it would crash at least daily.
You know something's wrong when every TV channel is showing nothing but Jerry Springer. |

Posted by Rich Which definition of public school are you using? I believe a UK "public" school is roughly equivalent to a US "private" school. |

Congratulations!
I didn't go to graduation, but I already said that fairly recently in some thread or other. I don't plan to attend university graduation either. I don't like pointless ceremonies that consist primarily of sitting around bored out of my mind...after all, that's what school is some of the time. |

My school forced us to listen to school band concerts. We couldn't even use the time to catch up on homework or anything. |

I never had those entertainment packs...apparently they came with computers from normal companies like Dell, but my parents always bought computers from these weird local upstarts that probably consisted of one 15-year-old making 10 computers a year and didn't bother putting anything on them other than an OS. |

That title bar definitely looks like 1.x or 2.x to me.
Windows 286 was really 2.1, and there was also a Windows 386, which was another version of 2.1. |

KDE owns. I know a lot of people will disagree, but the X11-based GUIs work a lot better than anything Microsoft will come up with. |

Posted by Drag Specifically, when companies use their monopoly status to make overpriced, underfeatured products and then not update them for years. (IE, anyone?) |

One-handed piano? I took piano for a few years, and that sounds rather impossible, except for the really introductory stuff. |
