I have weird dreams but I generally forget most of them after I've been awake for about five minutes. Last night, I remember one about polygons. Like, I was in class and I had to come up with the correct names for various polygons. I remember I got "enneagon" right but didn't know the name of the one with 11 sides. |

Serif refers to the little lines at the ends of the letters, like in this line of text.
Sans-serif means the font doesn't have those little lines, like in this line of text. Note that Verdana does include serifs for I and 1 to differentiate them from l. |

1521. After reaching a certain age, time suddenly passing really fast. I mean...it's already 2007 already? And we're in mid-April? Sometimes it feels like 2004 was just last week... |

Posted by Tarale Georgia and Verdana (among others) were designed by Microsoft, which may be why they tend to be missing from Linux distributions. Which sucks, as websites tend to look really bad with whatever default fint the system decided to substitute in. |

The President isn't supposed to be able to declare war, only Congress can do that. But the U.S. government is really screwed up right now. |

1530. The damn Windows key, which is totally worthless to me, being right next to the very useful control key. So I'll often type "Windows-V" to paste by accident, and I will "Windows-click" on a link in an attempt to open a new Firefox tab, etc. |

1532. My laptop keyboard being really screwed up. It has two Windows keys, but only one control key! And it isn't even in the lower left-hand corner, because an FN key is there instead. Also, there are two \ keys. One above enter and one left of the spacebar. |

The one time I heard "forte" as in strength said out loud, it was "fort-ay", but he might have mispronounced it. I know the musical term is "fort-ay". |

1545. Ball mice.
1546. Keyboards where the \ key is longer and between backspace and enter. |

Posted by Doritokiller So it's a pyramid scheme? One board I once posted at was on a host involved in a pyramid scheme, it collapsed and the host and board went under. |

1562. That laptop touchpads have the "tap to click" turned on by default. It results in way too many accidental clicks with my shaky hands.
1563. People using my laptop still tapping to click, and not understanding the concept of "turned off" after I try to explain how I've set it up to not do that. |

I was banned at one place for posting too much (on a board that was teeming with postcount++ threads, and other more established members were posting as much as I was), and at another place for my political views. Generally, if I noticed an admin going on a banning rampage at Acmlm's, I stopped posting for a while. |

Yeah, I often download files to the desktop, especilly .exe installers as they're going right in the trash...err, "recycle bin" after the relevant program is installed.
What I hate is programs that don't recognize "Desktop" as being a folder outside the drive structure of the computer. I have a lot of files stored in folders on my desktop, and don't want to have to navigate through c:\Documants and Settings etc. because some idiotic program is stuck in the Windows 3.1 days. |

Posted by HyperHacker Reminds me of one time in school, I reached over and hit Alt-F4 on someone's computer while they were playing solitaire or something. They were like "OMG WHAT DID YOU DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO????" Is it just me, or do a very large amount of games use something involving the letter C to bring up the cheat box? Like Control-Alt-C or something. If I had a game, I'd make it Control-Alt-Q just to throw people off. |

1581. Being the only Acmlmer who actually prefers the L-shaped enter and small backspace. Those were the keyboards I grew up with, and with the other arrangement, I'm constantly hitting \ and enter at the same time, adding a \ to whatever I was typing (Murphy's Law ensures that it's usually a password). I rarely hit \ instead of backspace with the other layout.
1582. Microsoft adding new keys to the keyboard. 1583. Every computer company except Apple catering to the every whim of Microsoft. At least Dell is starting to use Linux, finally. |

Last night, I had a dream that some people from another board registered at Acmlm's. I've had a lot of Acmlm's-related dreams, actually...including one when I had a concussion and I had only been here for about a month. |

1575. When my computer absolutely refuses to acknowledge the existence of my flash drive, always insisting that it is an "unknown device".
1576. When posting at Acmlm's slows to a crawl. |
