Wow, a videogame system for Easter? Occasionally I would get small toys and such for Easter when I was younger, but something like a videogame would only be for my birthday or Christmas.
Pretty soon, parents will be giving their kids big-screen TVs for Memorial Day, brand new cars for Groundhog Day, etc. |

I stopped using IE in 2004. I switched to Mozilla, then Firefox, which is what I use now. I only keep IE around for a small number of sites that still don't work in anything else.
My parents have gotten something like that before, and I've had all kinds of crap placed into IE from downloading, uh, files. My parents usually use Netscape though. Yes, Netscape. You know, that browser that was popular back in 1996. |

Yeah, and people who have always lived in areas that get huge amounts of snow are just sick of it...at least I am. I don't mind having some snow, but I hate these October-through-May intermittent winters. |

Posted by Xkeeper Firefox is also more popular because Microsoft didn't update IE at all for like five years and Firefox added several additional features during that time. I can't live without tabbed browsing these days, for instance. |

Nah, that's too hot for me. Now if it was 10-15C all year, I'd take it. |

1417. Gaming megasites. The only good large gaming site is GameFAQs (and stay away from the message boards, obviously). There are like 100 sites that all try to cover every game in existence, and they have very little information on each game, not to mention ads always outweigh content. All the megasites clog up the Google search results when I'm looking for actual strategy information, walkthroughs, or FAQs for a videogame (besides the same damn cheat codes on every site). Seriously, I almost want to be able to look up gaming sites by reverse PageRank. |

Posted by Stifu I don't use any extensions either. I never felt I needed any. A few of the ones mentioned in this thread look like they would be useful to me, but not very many. |

I thought the computer-generated newspaper articles in SimCity 2000 were hilarious. Actually, it seems to be a tradition to incorporate humour into the text in strategy and simulation games...for example, in Civilization III and Zeus: Master of Olympus. |

I removed the home button from my Firefox as I don't have a home page. Why? Because the first site I visit when I open Firefox is different each time, and I'd rather not have the computer load a page that I won't be using every time I open Firefox. I used to have it set to Google, but now I use the Google bar in the upper right-hand corner if I want to do any searching.
It's also a holdover from my dialup days when all pages would take forever to load. Even now, DNS lookups with my ISP are highly unreliable so it can take a while to load a page (not nearly as much as before, but I get impatient). |

Hmm, I think the last time I was in a church was in 1996, when my parents made me go see my grandfather's funeral. I'm not Christian (or any religion), which surprises a lot of people. It's like they assume: "He doesn't look Muslim or Jewish, so he must be Christian." |

Posted by HyperHacker Animated avatars seem to only display one frame continuously on the memberlist. I didn't know those were separate images on that page, I thought maybe they were just resized. I remember on the first incarnation the avatars on the memberlist were just forced into 60*60, which looked really bad in the case of non-square avatars. I rarely do anything beyone basic image manipulation (like taking a portion of a screenshot or other image), as I don't have the brain for that sort of stuff at all. I use the GIMP because it's free, and Paint tends to mess up the colours on images if you don't want a .bmp file. |

1441. Programs (generally romhacking utilities) that require the numeric keypad. Laptops don't have them, and you have to hit an "FN" key along with various letter and symbol keys to get the computer to register the keystroke as "numpad +" rather than "normal keyboard +".
1442. The typewriter-like staggering of the letter keys. Having them in a matrix would have made it much easier to learn to type with all the fingers. |

The feeling of missing someone can even happen over the Internet...I really miss Katelyn right now, I usually talk to her on AIM for hours a day, seriously. She always understands my problems and has never compained that I bitch too much about school and stuff...she's the best friend I could ever have. And now she's in Tokyo. |

Wow, Sarial actually registered at Acmlm's II? What did you have to do, Katelyn? Tie her to a chair? (Welcome to Acmlm's!) |

My school was stricter than a military academy:
- Swearing was a detention. And I don't just mean yelling "SHITFUCKING BITCHES" at the top of your lungs. You couldn't say damn, hell, or even sucks. - "Inappropriate use of technology" was two weeks off the computers, even if you were in a computer class and had to use them every day. Just about anything was considered inappropriate, including playing any game on the library computers (you could play the built-in games in computer classes), or using the Internet without approval from a teacher. That was for the first offence. For the second, you could never use a school computer ever again. - Can't be in the hall without a hall pass except during 4th hour because that's when the lunch periods were, and before and after school and between classes. Any adult would ask where your hall pass was if it wasn't clearly visible in your hand. During lunch, you can't go to your locker. Only the cafeteria, gym, and library. There's more I can't think of right now, it's been a couple of years... |

Yeah, an Acmlmer convention has the potential to be awesome. Where should it be though? We have a lot of North American and European members and some from Australia and other places, it may be tough to get us all together. |

Ooh, testing games widely known as being crappy to see if they really are. Interesting.
I tried Action 52 once, then ran away screaming in horror. There might have been a very small number of halfway decent time-wasters on there if the controls weren't so horrendous. |

Hey, what if I live in North America but would rather go to the European convention?
Also, when would be a good time of year? I vote for summer as more people will be off school and the weather would be better (not like that'd matter as you know we'd all be inside playing videogames for the entire duration of the convention). |
