1327. (I almost typed 1337, LOL) The fact that you can't tell what a Windows process is by looking at the file name because they're all these 8.3-compliant strings of seemingly random letters, such as hpqwftcb.exe.

Maybe "Link" is actually a family name, or just their word for "hero" or some such...

I broke my arm about 6 years ago. It didn't heal straight, so now I've got one arm with a wrist that can't really turn that far and a lump in that forearm.

My left elbow won't go completely straight and I'm not sure why. It's been like that for several years now at least.

There was snow here as well today (northwest suburbs of Detroit).

I used to live in Niagara Falls, New York, which must have the weirdest and crappiest weather in the world. I think we got a snowstorm in June once. And in 2003 in Michigan, I experienced an ice storm in mid-April bad enough to cancel the schools.

I'm not too fond of snow. Believe me, when you see snow year after year, all winter and well into the spring, it no longer looks pretty.

Yeah, I had AT&T earlier this year and they were evil. Now I have Comcast, which are also evil. I'm kicked off AIM a lot, and if it's not someone I talk to regularly who knows about the problem, sometimes they think I'm done and have signed off for real. They're not usually down for days at a time, but the ISP at my parents' house often was.

There's a billboard near my parents' house that was designed by an elementary-school student who won a contest. The Wyoming egg is reminding me of that.

Michigan's egg isn't bad, at least it's better than the boring Michigan quarter.

At least my birthday has been free from snow, but then again, it's in mid-July. Usually, it's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk for my birthday.

Acmlm's has traditionally allowed swearing. Just don't use a lot of offensive slurs or use "fuck" as every third word and you should be fine.

I always have Firefox maximized. I only use 1024*768 resolution though, as anything higher fries my eyeballs. I remember switching to 1280*1024 on my laptop once and seeing weird pixel patterns when I closed my eyes and such...then again, I think I was on the computer a lot that day.

I stopped doing anything for Easter when I was around 13. I was raised in a non-religious environment, so I thought Easter was just about chocolate eggs and bunnies and such, and waking up in the morning to find the scattered goodies.

I don't get any days off for Easter at all (except the usual Saturday and Sunday, of course)...spring break was in mid-March, back when it was actually spring (now we're experiencing a second winter).

Yeah, typos happen...there's a difference between making typos (although you probably should use the edit button to correct them if you see them) and having no idea how to write English. What drives me nuts is when people use "u" for "you" and so on and never capitalize anything. You're using a computer, not a cell phone. All 26 letters of the alphabet each have their own button, and there's even shift keys for entering uppercase letters.

I'm a clumsy typer (well, I'm clumsy at everything) and prone to brain farts, so I make a lot of typos. but @ leest u dont c me typ lek this 2 sav tym

The reason for .bmp being bad is that the files are very large, even small images like avatars, speaking as someone who had dialup until late 2006. Some people still have slow connections, and your avatar would take a very long time to load.

What I never understood is why .bmp files are apparently stored backwards. If you see one load really slowly (as I have many times), the bottom pixels load first, implying that they're at the beginning of the file. Wouldn't it make sense to store a bitmap starting at the top left and moving right and down?

Ours has lasted over 6 years, but the age of the community isn't that important. I tend to prefer relatively new communities, actually. Some communities can be old but very inactive because most of their members have left or they never got a steady stream of new members.

I think it's funny how the Final Fantasy series still numbers every game in sequence. Most videogame series stop numbering entirely after a while (like Mario and Zelda), or start the numbering over with the next sub-series (such as Mega Man). *imagines a game in 2100 called Final Fantasy LXXVIII*

1383. Higsby not noticing that 1381 is supposed to be 1382.

Higsby and fabio posted at more or less the same time. fabio's post just got through first, probably as Higsby was typing his.

1391. Typing something about boobs or some such in AIM and having my mom IM me before I finish typing it so it ends up partially in her window, when she isn't familiar with the concept of "wrong window". (That happened to me once.)

1392. Having to edit almost every post, and being too lazy to use preview.

This is why #define is evil (but a necessary evil in C). An error in the #define line can cause errors all over the program, even in entirely different files. At least C++ has const and inline which take the place of the two main uses of #define (so you'd only have to use it for include guards if you use them).

Dace, where in Michigan are you?

I used to live in the Thumb (redneck central, ugh) and am now in the Detroit area.

Yeah, but what would happen with me (similarly on Halloween) is I would eat a lot of candy for a while, then forget about it and at least some portion would sit around for months. Usually the stuff I didn't like as much.

I was always bullied in elementary school. My mom had to drive me to and from school because on the bus, I'd get hit and punched constantly.

Also, my parents always used highly scientific terminology when referring to anatomy, such as "penis". When the first-grade alpha males accused me of being too girly, they would ask stuff like "Do you have a dick?" Not knowing what the word meant, I thought it was an abbreviation for dictionary.
