I got 133, which is three-quarters of leet or something.
I probably would have gotten something lower if I weren't reluctant to register. I like my number though. |

I don't know about now, but it used to be possible to post whole logged out, by entering your username and password along with your post. |

I suppose when the Internet technology advances to the point in which smells can be transmitted across wire...but would people want such a feature? |

One definition of "online" seems to be "on the computer", as in "online help system". That always confused me as I kept thinking of an Internet-based help system, but it just means there's a help file on the computer instead of a manual. |

I've been known to postpone homework so that I could post...even homework due the following day. |

By the way, why were half the forums hidden on the second archive? |

What exactly does the number represent? Like if my font setting is 80, what is that? It's certainly not a point size or number of pixels... |

Yeah, or 1. Would the text just be one pixel high? Or completely invisible? |

I know I'm allergic to something. I have to sneeze and blow my nose a lot. When I visit my parents in the country (which I try to avoid doing) my allergies get a hundred times worse. |

Posted by Omega Nobody and never (though I have spilled other drinks). I don't think this thread is for random questions though, it's for questions specifically about the board itself and discussions of those questions, right? I think when the board's more active and we're getting members who are truly new, we can have a newbie thread. We could have local mods in the future but I'd say no more than one per forum (maybe two for something like General Chat, maximum). And please, don't have 15 admins who are only admin because they posted a lot in 2001. I think Acmlm and Xkeeper are enough actually, unless we have some kind of major attack or get a huge amount of members. |

Or just a minimum size, although computer-savvy individuals would know to use Ctrl-scrollwheel temporarily if they accidentally typed 7 instead of 70. |

Yep. Even unreliable high-speed is way better than dialup. Although in my case, even dialup was unreliable. Maybe it's a Michigan thing. We have no economy, so the Internet service is lousy everywhere in the state. |

I only had to do one science fair project per se, which I did on copper plating (or attempting to). In my advanced science class in high school though, we had to do a resecrah project every semester or do one every year and then present it at a county-wide expo. (I lived in a rural Michigan county with a population of about 30000 at the time, so when I did present I got all of 6 people in the audience, but I still got credit.) My projects were:
- Coating nails with various substances and leaving them out in the weather to see which was best at preventing rust. I found out that Rust-Oleum type paints are a lot better at it than normal paint, but ordinary grease was the best. Crisco wasn't very good though. - Putting several types of tape (including cheap imitation duct tape and real duct tape) around a barrel eposed to the weather outside to see which would hold the longest and also which would remain sticky the longest. The masking tape fell off first as you might expect (I didn't use Scotch tape), but I was surprised that the black electrician's tape held on for much longer than the duct tape (I think it's still on there, from a project that I started in 2002!). My dad still uses these findings and prefers electrician's tape when working outside. - I did a survey for my third project, to determing whether watching lots of TV really affects people's grades. I asked 100 or so people, selected at random from three high schools, what their GPA was and how many hours a week they watched of TV. Of course I got a lot of joke answers like (1000000 hours of TV) which I ignored (although one may have gotten through). I found out that watching more TV only has a very small negative impact on grades, and the impact it has is unrelated to what year of high school they were in, assuming that the much higher correlation I got for the seniors was due to an extreme outlier that I didn't recognize as such. |

Not sure about Perl, but in C/C++/Java/PHP (which use largely the same syntax), post += 1 will just add one to the variable "post" and isn't a valid condition in Java as it returns post as its "answer" instead of a boolean, but in C it will be equal to a boolean true if post isn't zero. So that probably isn't what you intended, unless += is different in Perl than in the languages I'm familiar with. |

Posted by Ice Penguin Me too, I hate them I got lucky and got a part-time job without one, but I'll probably need one when I go for an internship this summer... I've had allergies for as long as I can remember, but I think my parents mistook them for mild colds at first. My dad yells at me when I blow my nose even though he knows I have them. Then again, my dad yells at me for everything. |
