Once I read a book about ghosts and other paranormal occurrences and was scared of the hallway for weeks. Another time, I had a really scary nightmare involving the spare bathroom...I didn't use it for months after.
I guess I only have one irrational fear at a time, but which fear it is changes every so often. |

Posted by Tanks Supposedly my mom went into labour during an episode of Star Trek, and my dad really didn't want something as important as Star Trek interrupted by something piddly like a baby. I don't know how that meshes with me having been born in the early morning though. I guess she was in labour for several hours? *knows very little about the birthing process* |

I only liked the second Myst game (Riven, I think). The first one was interesting for a while but got really boring, especially with all the damned mazes. I remember one involved navigating an underground maze in a vehicle for what seemed like forever based on weird sound effects (I have a terrible memory for sound effects...it's not like you can write them down or anything.). And then you had to do practically everything in the game TWICE to get both pages. I think you only actually needed one set of pages, but we didn't know that.
I think Riven was a lot better...the puzzles were more interesting, there was an actual story, and not nearly as much repetition. It's one of the few first-person games that doesn't throw my brain in an infinite loop trying to navigate it. |

I made a little game on my TI-83+ where you're a theta walking around collecting asterisks and plus signs and avoiding X's, trying to get to the E in each screen. I eventually gave up developing it because the TI programming language is so damn slow and I don't know ASM. |

That's one thing I like about DOSbox. The PC speaker output is instead directed through the normal sound card, allowing sound to be muted, volume to be changed, and headphones to be used.
I remember the days when you had to know what brand and model of sound card you had or you either wouldn't hear anything at all or the program would default to really obnoxious internal speaker beeps. |

305. The PC internal speaker. It's very loud and can't be turned off. I considered not even connecting it when I built my computer, but then I wondered "what if there's an error with the video card and I need it?"
306. The modem speaker. Ii don't have dialup anymore but when I did, I woshed I could go online without having to hear the beeps and screeches. Just because it's sending some sound pattern through the phone line shouldn't mean the same sounds have to emanate into the room as well! |

308. Old games that assumed that computers would never get faster than about 16 Mhz and so base their internal game timer on the CPU speed. |

Has anyone else done similar things to romhacking before knowing about actual romhacking?
When I was really young I was obsessed with the Mario games and often dreamed of making my own levels. I would draw them on paper and fill entire notebooks with imagined Mario worlds. When I got the Internet in 2001, I was really surprised to find that other people have emulated and hacked the game and created their own levels. The first level editor I used was for a PC game called Boppin. Unfortunately, there was a bug in the editor in which if you try to create your own level set (rather than editing one of the existing ones), when you tried to save, it would crash and the computer would reboot! So I could only edit the existing levels or play each level individually in the editor (it had a "test" feature), but I still had loads of fun designing levels for the game. |

Maybe she couldn't.
My high school worked like this: If you ever have more than 10 absences in any given semester, you WILL take 13th grade. |

I never owned Chip's Challenge but I had fun playing it when I visited my cousins, they had it on their machine. Didn't know it had a level editor. |

Why do people use the word "home" to refer to their parents' house even after they move out? |

Posted by fabioPosted by Trapster It can be fairly challenging if you're trying for all the coins and unlocking all the levels. I beat the game and then almost ran out of lives trying to unlock World 4. |

You only have to go 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 5 -> 6 -> 8. Worlds 4 and 7 are hidden and you have to beat the bosses of 3 and 6 with a mini mushroom to access them. |

Hey, now we know that if we want to see all the graphs at once, we can go to Madman200's profile. |

Well it's like Halloween and Christmas. Oct 31 is the same as Dec 25, right? |

The frog coins aren't given automatically, an admin would have to give some to you. Since the RPG system hasn't been used on any previous incarnations, no frog coins have beeen given out. |

I have Gmail and a university E-mail account, both of which are webmail, so I don't use a special program to check E-mail. I actually prefer webmail becuse I regularly check my E-mail from two different computers and I find it more convenient to be able to check my E-mail from a web browser. |
