I seem to get along fine on 6 hours of sleep, but with only 3 or 4 I start feeling like a zombie after a few days.

I always take showers at night. Taking them in the morning seems weird to me.

My aunt in Arizona has a cat. It's name is Kat.

That's more imaginative than my parents, who named their cat Cat. I'm surprised I wasn't named Human.

I' tying this poat as quickly as I possibly can in order to maximize possible typos/ I can make typos a lot, expecially on AIM. My keyboard suks

Yes I know this was kinda the opposite of what I was supposed to do. Damn, no typos in that ast sentence (not counting the missing comma)?

When you were new to message boards, what kinds of dumb things did you do?

I never really talked like a n00b. You know, the kind of people who type everything in all lowercase and type "u" instead of "you" and such. But I would always ask noobish questions like "What is AIM?" and "What is 1337?" Seriously, I thought AIM was Acmlm's-specific. Like "Acmlm In Motion" or something. Plus I always confused it with IRC. And I thought 1337 was a year or something. (It actually was the beginning of the Hundred Years' War.)

The other thing I would do was obsess over my post count. Like "How do you people have thousands of posts when I only have 57?" I actually thought that once you got enough posts, your post count would go up by more than one for each post! And of course "100th post", "111th post", "200th post", "467th post" etc. At least I had the common decency to not make them threads.

Oh, and I actually tried to submit a hack to Acmlm's site, just after he mostly stopped updating it (this was early 2002).

Yep, I've made crappy, buggy hacks. Then I got so caught up in posting that I stopped romhacking.

Another thing I did a few times was, when my thread didn't get any replies, I'd bump it with "Anyone?" or "PAY ATTENTION!!!!!" or something. I didn't do that at Acmlm's because just about any thread got a reply really fast, but I'd do that on smaller boards.

Wikipedia has a list of all the time zones in the world. Although I think a GMT offset would be fine, much better that a "server time" offset which would be different on other boards that are on servers in other timezones. I always have to think when entering the offset on an Acmlmboard.

I didn't bump old threads at all, surprisingly...

I never did either, because early on I saw a lot of people get yelled at for bumping threads. But my third post at Acmlm's was a repeat of a thread whose last post was only like three days before, and it was yet another version of the infamous "How do you pronounce Acmlm".

Notice anything about my sizebar? (the size limit kind of ruins things )

It's fake. For one thing, there peobably wouldn't be a comma in the post count, and it would have the current post number, a slash, and the total posts.

This webcomic reminded me a lot of Acmlm's board back in the day, what with all the guys turning into girls and half-animal hybrids and whatnot. Sadly, the updates seem to be erratic these days.

One thing I like about EGS is that it is a continuous storyline, not like some webcomics where each installment is just a self-sufficient throwaway gag that has nothing to do with any other. My favorite character is Tedd because, uh, he's a lot like me. And mad scientists are cool by default.

Any other EGS fans here? It seems to me the strip was popular among Acmlmers in 2003-ish when I had dialup and didn't feel like waiting thirty thousand years for each comic to load.

But if you say you're not a noob, are you still a noob?

Another noobish thing I did was ask when I would no longer be a noob.

I was used to boards that where spammy and slightly noobish before I came to Acmlm's.
That explains My old posts. :/

Hey, you registered exactly 4 years after me, to the day.

Acmlm's wasn't my very first board but it was one of my first. I posted at The Mushroom Kingdom and Challenge Games before Acmlm's (both around the same time, I can't remember which was first anymore). So my first post was either "Hi I'm new" or some basic SMB1 romhacking questions.

MY ISP (Comcast, Detroit area) is pretty lousy. I get kicked off AIM constantly, sometimes once every few minutes. The DNS is terrible, I'll get "Server not found" a lot even on sites where I was just on another page five seconds ago.

But hey, at least it's not dialup (which I had until late 2006).

I read random things on Wikipedia sometimes, or type weird crap into Google. Or post at message boards and refresh the index page a jillion times to see if anyone has posted in the past few seconds since I last refreshed the page.

I agree that the user rating was a bad idea. Either people complained about low ratings or they didn't pay attention to it at all.

I spent $140 on Windows XP Home and it didn't have a CD key, so it was worthless. (I do like Linux, but I need Windows for school)

Yeah, I read old posts a lot. And new posts, there are several boards that I lurk at religiously but have no interest in registering for.

I found the first incarnation through Acmlm's site in February of 2002. I actually found the site itself in July 2001 when I was looking for SMB1 level editors and found "Strange Mario Bros." which I just had to check out. I didn't even know what a message board was at the time though.

As for this incarnation, I hadn't posted in forever at Acmlm's, and Nyletak linked me to the 3rd incarnation just before the Big Split. I registered at both new boards but only posted at this one.
