Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land - Game Boy.

Last time I tried, I didn't get too far though.

Was browsing though RWP, and came across this:

http://archaicstudios.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3921#post3921

Incredibly, it's an MIDI importer for Banjo Kazooie. And after trying it myself, I can confirm it works.

Impressive.

-edit- actually, come to think of it - this would probably be better in Rom Hacking, as it's not actually my program. It'd probably get more exposure there anyhow.

Also, fuck Europe and their wanting shit manufactured under a different name there. It's just bullshit. :V

I agree, like star fox was star wing, and star fox 64 was lyat wars, just annoying

Well, we didn't exactly have a choice.

"Star Fox" was a registered trademark here in the UK. Nintendo couldn't use the name, so they instead used Star Wing. Same case for Lylat Wars.

Seems like a really sweet hack so far, but as someone who's a bit of a grammar nazi, I feel obliged to point these out:

Couple of things here - for pure dramatic effect, it may be better to have 'Through you! hahaha' appear below after you press A. Otherwise it just all looks fairly rushed.

Also, the 'HAHAHAHA!!!' does look slightly...amateur. Maybe being a bit less excessive with it would help? As a rule, stick to one exclamation mark, at the very most two.

I see what you're trying to say here, but the 'it's hard for me not to hit you' makes little sense, purely from how it's structured. Obviously, I haven't seen how it fits in with the rest of the dialogue, but it just seems a bit strange as it is.

'Thru' should be 'Through'.

Again, with the 'HAHAHAHA!!!'. In this case, it seems pretty abrupt. But that can be solved with a bit of jigging around - for example 'The Triforce was a wonderful thing to have....' and then in the next page, the laughter. Or maybe replace the 'HAHAHA' altogether? Maybe do a Ganondorf and have 'Heh...heh...heh'. Sounds a little more evil, and a little less batshit crazy.

Looks fine to me.

Anyway. The thing I'm trying to get at here is that polished grammar can make the difference between an amateur hack, and one that could have been developed by Nintendo themselves.

If you ever wanted, when the hack nears a finalized state, I could go through all the grammar for you and polish everything up. It's something that 'Parallel Worlds' desperately needed, but as such, suffered from the at times atrocious dialogue.

I'd quite happily beta test, being the Zelda nut I am, with the added experience of many, many hours spent on Hyrule Magic. A 'master quest' hack was always something I'd been planning on working on, but never had the time to, unfortunately.

Anyway. More screenies would be nice, just to give us all a bit more of an idea. Maybe some shots of a couple of dungeon rooms so we can see how much is changed?

Woah....

Words fail me - this is incredible shit.

One word of warning though, that zip file contains the japanese DKC2 ROM. It's inside the mapedit folder. Might want to take that out, and re-upload it.

Is saving still a no-no in the latest release then?

I spent ages creating this kickass level, only to exit the program, and then find out my work was gone. However, Reuben did load up what was the level about 2 minutes into editing.

Could that be because I hit ctrl+s around that time just for the hell of it, or am I simply imagining things? I haven't read in any post yet that saving is supported.

Seperate Utilities?

Eh? Whereabouts would I find that then?

Anyway, having fun with the editor now:

So, if I understood correctly, you get more freedom in level layouts and graphics, and that's basically it, right? So if you want to have some random but relatively simple feature that was in Mario Adventure, you'd still have to hack it in yourself.

Which, to me, makes sense.

To be honest, the reason I'm so excited about this editor is it's flexibility in terms of editing levels. Unlike previous editors, I can create whatever comes into my mind, quickly, with minimal hassle. Which is great.

Not your hack, and it's already been posted way before now by it's creator.

Here's the special ROM you need. Make sure it loads first before using it with the editor, I had some issues with it beforehand.

http://acmlm.no-ip.org/uploader/get.php?id=2908

Let me just say, I knew what this was going to be before I even downloaded it (I've seen the SMW equivalent)

But on a purely technical level, this is damn impressive in my eyes. Or ears.

Would this work on a real NES, or would it be FUBAR? It'd be great for an idea of mine, that's all.

Yeah, so I'm willing to guess that some of the games presented will actually be developed, but I got a feeling some of them won't make it out to the market. I mean as much as they showed OoT 3D, the way they've been making it sound in interviews is that there's a chance it could also become a different Zelda game all together.

Just remember when the Wii came out, and all the titles that got announced that never saw the light of day. Like Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and Sadness.

OOT is definitely being made into a fully fledged remake - it was confirmed by Aunoma at the E3 roundtable. He pledges to make the inventory better so that the Water Temple won't be so much of a hassle.

Anyway. I compiled a thread of details elsewhere, I figured it'd be a good idea to post it here too:

Release date: To be confirmed by Nintendo at their annual conference on the 29th September. Likely to be in time for the holiday season.

The Console:

- 800x240 resolution top screen, full 3D effect without glasses. Graphics equivalent to the Wii, but with better architecture and a much wider capability for various shaders and effects.

- Analog stick/slider.

- 3D camera on the back for taking photographs in 3D.

- 3D movie support, with backing from Universal, Warner Bros, Fox and Disney.

- 3D Depth slider to adjust the amount of 3D. Can be turned off completely if needed.

- Internal storage (nintendo issued a patent relating to this). Games can be installed to the console, equivalent to using a flashcart.

- Completely revamped online service.

- Game size 2gb max at launch. Will be expanded during the console's lifetime.

- Fully backwards compatible with all DS and DSi games.

Screenshots:

Metal Gear Solid 3 3DS:

Kid Icarus:

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPZIHxS6C-k

Resident Evil Revelations:

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr3bvrvJYyo (confirmed to be real in-game graphics).

Ocarina of Time 3DS:

Super Street Fighter IV:

Starfox 64 3DS:

Pilotwings:

fuck yeah.

All of those are 100% confirmed games. Kojima has recently confirmed that MGS3D will be happening, but may not be a launch title. Super Street Fighter IV 3DS already has an official site, along with updates, and Resident Evil Revelations has been confirmed as a Q1 2011 release by capcom.

Wait, a REMAKE of OoT? Well fuck, it'd better be stupidly similar to the original, or everyone will bitch.

As for the console itself, I'm syked. But I'm afraid to be syked, you know? Who knows how this could turn out, it could be a pile of crap. And I mean sure, going back and remaking original classics is all fine and dandy, but I already OWN those games. Is a 3D gimmick really enough for me to pay 60 god damn dollars for a game I already own?

Do you own Kid Icarus: Uprising, Resident Evil Revelations or Pilotwings 3DS?

I thought not.

Trying to be a dick, are we?

Yes, I don't own these games, but that's not why most people want the 3DS. They want it because of the classic remakes. Honestly, I didn't like the first Kid Icarus, never got into Resident Evil, and don't even know what the fuck Pilotwings is. If I get the 3DS, I'm gonna get Zelda, or friggin' Goldeneye.

Obviously not, as I don't have to resort to childish name calling.

Anyway, continuing on the same topic - Kid Icarus: Uprising is a reinvention of the series. It's not a platformer as the original two were, it's more akin to a hybrid of smash bros and Sin and Punishment.
