My nominations?

1. Illusion of Time (Illusion of Gaia for those playing in America)
2. Super Metroid
3. Donkey Kong Country (I'm sorry, I still think that DKC2 is the worst out of the three)

I seem to spend more on the VC than I thought. Enough so that I'm actually running out of room on my Wii.

Then again, considering I don't buy NES games and mostly buy SNES/N64 that's not surprising. Also Wiiware.

Tool looks nice, I had a brief play around with it earlier. You should really put up a few screenshots and sell it a bit more interdpth, not everyone bothers with the Rom Hacking forums.

Makes me wonder how easy it would be to remake Super Metroid with it though (Discounting the frightening amount of sprite assembly you'd have to do to remake the bosses from that game as well as a few room design changes to accompany the changed mechanics.)

I think what Xenesis meant was remaking Super Metroid in the engine of whatever Metroid game the editor edits...

Aye, you would be correct. I was wondering how easily it could be accomplished within the MZM/MF engine.

The video is interesting to watch, and there are some clever bits among the mindless requirement for technical glitchjumping perfection, but something I will never, ever desire to play.

Time for a bump of this topic.

It seems nintendo is playing Hardball against the homebrew installations of programs with the latest Wii update.

At least this time however it doesn't seem they're making any pithy attempts to justify it behind a tiny feature update - seems they actually want people to want to update this time. :o

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_System_Updates

So bets on how long it's taken before they're taken to the cleaners again?

To be honest, half my use of the HBC is just to use my Wii like a Gameboy player so I don't have to plug in my Gamecube. ;

The other half is just for Snes games.

So you're interested too huh? I still need some help ... this is way too confusing for me. Though I did figure out 2 RAM addresses: one for life and one for Dark gems. I thought I had an address that messed with the pitch of the instruments, but that was VRAM So if anyone could please help with this project, that would be real nice. (Yes, I'll post those 2 RAM address later, I'm tired and quite lazy at the moment.)

Yep, I am actually. My two hacking goals with IoT are quite simple:
1) Make that Fishing guy not suck so hardcore with the Red Jewel. 1 in 3 as opposed to like 1 in 50. ;
2) Fix all the botched english in the game - possibly do a retranslation project.

I'll need to learn SNES ASM first as I currently only am familiar with the GBA's ARM assembly. I'd consider doing a level remix or something like that at some point too.

I can't remember specifically off the top of my head, but there's a lot of places in the game where the text isn't consistent or just poorly phrased compared to what it should be or the text has an ambiguous person as the speaker. (Eg, Kara/Karen in a few places, Mt. Kress/Mt. Temple etc etc.)

Essentially there's nothing heinously bad, but there's a lot of English that feels awkward in the game. (And despite how awkward it looks, 'an herb' is still legitimate. )

Okay, I've got my hands on SPC2Midi (off smwcentral.net), and it quite happily converts any SPC I throw at it to Midi.

The problem is when I try and use it in anything else - Anvil Studio says that the Midi is quite mangled and when cleaned up basically destroys the song as large chunks of melody and percussion get deleted.

The problem is, I want to use the Midified SPCs with Sappy on the GBA with Mid2agb. It doesn't like the default output from SPC2Midi and keeps throwing all kinds of errors. The cleaned midis work fine, that being said it's not really that great with Anvil Studio wiping out half the song.

Any advice? Any programs that output SPC into a "standard" midi format?

My problem is digging up an SD card large enough so I can fit Curse of Monkey island on there. ;

But still, the older SCUMM games work great.

The challenge is open!
Grimm, now in AW2 (And has replaced Nell). Can Dragon Fogel get 300 on Risky Vale with Grimm? Only time will tell.

Link to Patch (US AW2, cleaner is here if needed)

Thought I'd put it up here if anyone else wanted a challenge. It's a quick and dirty one-day hack. But whatever. It was for the thrill, damnit.

1.1 Update: All COs are unlocked automatically, All War Room maps are unlocked automatically, Hard Campaign is chooseable automatically and the entirety of the campaign is done by the player with Grimm. Or Grimms. (Eg, you don't need a save file with anything unlocked)

[10:51am] Xenesis: I still need to figure out how the AW2 AI's encoded just so I can put in some random to mess with you lot
[10:52am] DragonFogel: You should hack Grimm in there so I can see if he has any hope on AW2 Risky Vale, against AW2 Kanbei.
[10:52am] Xenesis: Bahahaha
[10:53am] You changed the topic to "Grimm Vs AW2 Kanbei on Risky Vale - Can it be done?".
[10:53am] Xenesis: Reminder to myself - It should take a few minutes to put together tomorrow
[10:54am] DragonFogel: If I can actually pull that off, I'm definitely making a video.
[10:54am] Xenesis: Maybe I should input the sprites and music just for the hell of it.
[10:55am] Xenesis: And I think just to be mean I'll obey AW2's +0/10 rule instead of the +10/10 of AWDS
[10:55am] DragonFogel: So he gets 10% less attack on his powers?
[10:55am] Xenesis: Mm
[10:56am] DragonFogel: Well, it probably won't make a huge difference.
[10:56am] Xenesis: You say that now.
[11:01am] DragonFogel: I just think I have much worse worries on that map than 10% less damage on powers.
[11:01am] Xenesis: Oh I imagine so
[11:01am] Xenesis: But I'm going to laugh when you get confounded by not being able to kill a key unit due to that.

Update:

You're a jerk, Fogel.
