Considering Sonja's skills are mostly vision based, she doesn't suffer if Fog of War is turned on at all.

The fog changing turns FoW on if it was originally off and then off next turn, but it doesn't do anything if FoW is on by default. Which was actually one of the hardest parts of doing the hack...

Which reminds me...I should probably somehow get it to save whether FoW was on at the start of the game or not when you use the save command....

On the other hand, there's not much that's genuinely interesting about our fair city.

How to describe? Well, you'd be better off watching it...as it's a rather unintelligible when in screenshot form.

AW2 Related Linky

It's my modular Lightning Strike. Doesn't do the fancy graphics thing on all units, but it's functional. I did it because it was easier than figuring how AW2 did Lightning Strike in the first place. ;

The link to my AW2 patches don't work at ||bass's archive.

Use the acmlm archive:

My favourite font is still Skia, no matter what other people say.

I like it on screen, as it's easy on the eyes at 2am. ;

In the japanese version of Advance Wars: Dual Strike, whenever you swapped your COs in a tag it would say 'Syogun Change' , being that I hack AW, it's a pun.

I'd check with Apple. It could very well be that the logic board is screwed, and considering it was a design flaw along those models, they had a replacement program.

Who knows, you might get a free mac out of it.

Oh, no.

No, no, no, no, no.

Why didn't juvenile garbage like this die with NESticle?

There are still 13 year olds on the internet, sadly for us. Hence it shall never die.

No, I don't think it was my particular model? Could you link me to some proof of that?

Next Byte quoted $1,000--$2,000 to repair. They also confirmed my suspicion that it is indeed the Logic Board.

The iBook only cost a little over a grand and a half back in 2004

Not really...I can't really link you. I just had a friend of mine who's iBook of a similar make (I think it was an 800) managed to eat like 5 logic boards which apple replaced for no cost until they decided to replace the whole computer.

Oh, and I have to say, the Macbook Pros are indeed sexy...but the Macbooks themselves are quite nice...

On the other hand I have a 24" iMac now that I spent all my monies on so I'm happy. (Yay for no need to take it anywhere!)

The only thing I'm disappointed in right now is that it's just not pissing people off the way The Lone Rapist did. It must not be edgy enough. So far only a handfull of people have really hated this hack. It's making me pine for the days when I'd release a hack and it'd be hated so much a lynch mob would practically spring up.

Seriously, if any given person does not enjoy this type of humor, there's the door. I certainly wont be offended if you never enter this thread again. If you're the type of person that believes that everything in the world has to be to your personal liking and that your way is the only right way, then get the fuck out. Why get your little panties all bunched up over a ROM hack? Take a deep breath, understand that not everyone has your refined and sophisticated sense of humor, then leave and never come back. Go drink your tea and dont forget to lift your pinky finger up while you're doing it. You probably wear a monacle to.

I hate to play devil's advocate here, but uh...am I the only one sensing a conflicting message?

I love Mac OS X, if just because it doesn't make me feel like I am using an OS designed for someone with ADD. That and it's still fast on the 7 year old iMac that's sitting in the loungeroom...nothing compared to my shiny new iMac, but I digress. ;

The fact that 99% of apps follow the interface guidelines is great too. Nothing in windows ever behaves the same.

And it doesn't matter what I do, Windows wants to remind me about...SOMETHING.

Ah well.

Also, I love Front Row - controlling iTunes without using the mouse and keyboard is great, as I don't need to fiddle or click on things.

I downloaded a copy of Vista Ultimate this week as well ... not to replace XP on my computer though, but to experiment with it in VMWare and shrink it all the way down like I did to XP about half a year ago

I've barely started for now, but this should be fun ... it's also funny running Vista on a virtual machine under XP

Microsoft should like hire you or something. O.o

Because knowing Blizz's recent history it'll be one of the three:

1) Nothing like the previous games, and craptacular at the same time (Warcraft III, WoW)
2) The same game with slightly better graphics.

Then again, the nukes in SC2 look like firecrackers. NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED is more threatening than the damn actual nuke is. They don't deserve to be called Nukes.

Give me Supcom Nukes anyday.

Blizzard hasn't made anything original since the nineties. They create interesting universes, but they need to actually create something new rather than whoring out all their old games. Again. I want to like Blizzard, they did interesting stuff back in the nineties but they give me no reason to like them nowadays.

It took three nukes to clear one screen. THREE.

I expect massive damage when I nuke things.

Oh, and WoW is the natural extension of 'Hero'Craft III.

Warcraft II : RTS
Warcraft III: Hero Game with meatshields
World of Warcraft: Hero MMORPG

Seems like a natural extension to me.

And just tell me that Bliz isn't whoring out it's games when Starcraft II Generic Expansion Pack, World of Starcraft etc. get released.

I want something completely new, unrelated to Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo, Lost Vikings or Rock and Roll Racing. The craptacular comment is the fact that Blizzard seems to have forgotten how to make games fun in the last few years. They have talent as a studio which is mostly being wasted IMO.

Exactly. That is why I love SupCom so.

A nuke isn't a nuke if you can't laugh diabolically while you do it. Then again, a Supcom Nuke would wipe out an entire standard Starcraft map.

Well, excuse me if they didn't want to redo the game's entire delicate balance between races and build strategies just to give you cooler nukes.

I remember when the Blizzard mantra was to make everything as fun and as broken as hell in the Betas and then scale them back in the final releases. Anyway, it's a sequel. There's going to be a new balance regardless.

The difference between what Blizz has put out and whoring out sequels is that everything Blizz has put out with one of it's beloved trademarks on it (Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft) has been quality through and through. Who cares if they're set in the same world when they're all fucking quality games? All their old universes are still just as interesting as when they were new.

Well, I thought WoW and WCIII were crap, but that's just me. Quality crap, but still crap.

I'm really surprised and really disappointed the guy with the Final Fantasy avatar is complaining about whoring out sequels.

That's because Square takes about 5 games to do things right before they then fuck it up again. FF6 IMO is the only one that stands decently in terms of plot.

I HATE BLIZZARD BECAUSE IT IS POPULAR AND ITS THE COOL THING TO DO

LOOK AT ME IN ALL MY COOLNESS.

You might be surprised to know that Diablo II is one of the games I'm more fond of. Starcraft was fun in the day but I'm sick of it, as is Warcraft I/II.

If you want something new and fresh, you're in the wrong industry

I'm an idealist.

Gaming companies are sometimes in a moment 22 situation when it comes to sequels. You either hold onto a working formula, and get blamed on for not being too original, or you strife away from it and people complain that the new system works worse than the original or that it feels like a different game series.

Which is exactly why sequels aren't usually as exciting as new IPs, unless you are a hardcore fan of the original game and they make it similarish. Then again, I still feel the desire to slap people upside the head when they complain that AWDS isn't exactly like AW2 with just new COs.
