Patch Link If you're curious about the code itself, just ask me. I would advise against adding extra units to this screen with the patch as you'll go over the GBA's OAM object limit. Readme This patch is for Advance Wars 2 (U). If it is an intro dump, use the cleaner patch included beforehand. This patch adds the ability to see defence ratings for all COs when viewing the CO Dossier. It also adds the ability to see the firepower ratings for COs with 'dynamic' firepower (Like Colin's Power of Money). If using custom stats, the game will now also round up the number to display into these bounds: -30% or less -20% -10% Normal +10% +15% +20% +30% +40% +50% +60% +70% +75% or more Eg, a firepower boost of +12% would show as +15% - the display is very coarse. At this point, I feel the War Room Hack II is complete enough to test for bugs and weird issues so it can be a fully awesomeised hack. Patch is here What's Complete: Maps Time Limits CO Mods Tutorial Unlocks AI CO Power usage improvements What's not Complete: Bugfixes List of things to be done before 1.0 release: Fix bugs in the buglist New Title Screen List of Things to Be Done (when they're done) Eventually Confirm S-Ranks with all COs on every Map Known Bugs: Kindle and Von Bolt's music have the occasional loud squeak. (Low priority) When music is off, the map's intro music will continue playing instead. (Low priority) Kindle and Von Bolt's names will clip on the CO Dossier (Low priority) What To Report: Mechanical Bugs (Weird damage amounts, units stopping when not supposed to, etc.) Tiling Errors (Wrong tile on maps, map edges, missing shadows, property changes background when capped, etc.) Times! (I need to know if I've set times too low/high) Units with bad stats (Unusual ammo/fuel amounts) AI Doing absurd things (Not building air units on an air map, etc.) Comments on other things! And Update: Unit Scripts: Talysman Map Layouts: Silo Storm Map Tile Errors: Crescent Isle New Feature: Deterministic Weather Unlock Sturm, Von Bolt and Caulder What's Deterministic Weather? When COs who cause random weather changes are in play (Olaf, Drake), these changes will occur on set days rather than via RNG. For example, a single Olaf causes +10% chance of snow. Previously, this would randomly occur with the RNG. Now it will occur every (100/X) days, where X is the percentage chance of weather change. A single Olaf in play will cause Snow to fall at the end of Day 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, etc. How Do I Unlock Sturm, Caulder or Von Bolt? If you S-Rank a map, you can use them on that map. Go! Edit: Okay, time to get this thing finished before 2011 is. This refers to only the current revision of the map and it is all that I know about personally. If you guys have already done some of these and can fill in the blanks, please tell me! Some of the maps may have their time limit altered in a more lenient fashion, regardless. AI's CO Power Activation Rules: Caulder Max Grit Adder Colin Notes: I've written new code that governs how the AI decides to actually activate its CO Powers. I'll get around to most of the COs. Essentially you shouldn't notice a huge difference, but it will hopefully cut down on the turns where the AI will blatantly waste a CO Power (Grit using Snipe Attack with no Artillery for example!). Caulder will now also only use his power if he doesn't have a CO Unit and actually wants to deploy it. Should make playing Vs a Caulder AI much more fun |

The first is a bug I introduced in the last update. I highly recommend you update it ASAP...if you want to play as Caulder.
Bugfix: •Caulder's CO Unit no longer may de-CO when attacking as a human player. •Von Bolt hitting himself with his SCOP will result in paralysis that appears to be an allied unit to the current player. Tweak: •Von Bolt now uses a Black Hole HQ and Black Hole style units. |

Posted by Green-Kirby Yeah, I'd actually click on links in the IRC if it didn't give my web browser an authentication aneurism every time because you're not actually using certificates like you're supposed to.
It's simply because it is - Romhacking in general is an unforgiving landscape for newbies. The remaining users have no patience to be guiding and/or helpful to new users. The social forums are still cliquey (they're social forums so no surprise there). The IRC is even cliquier. Coupled with the fact that the board is no longer the go-to speciality place (RHDN covers general/translation, SMWC, Pokecommunity and its ilk cover the big favourites) and it's not especially appealing. There's certainly not much that actually encourages people to want to hang out here. I don't post that much here either anymore - threads in romhacking are largely ignored. I know I only update and comment out of stubborn headedness to actually finish things. |
