Name's James Freeman. Came over here since GenericBoard went to hell. Kinda pissed off at Nightkev, but I don't know what actually happened.
I'm a fan of Max Payne (especially 2, and even more so with the Cinematic mod), Team Fortress 2, Deus Ex, and Perfect Dark. I'm currently writing a book, by the way. Max Payne was the first game to include bullettime effectively (and was conceived before The Matrix made bullettime common). Max Payne 2 takes this above and beyond with Bullettime 2.0: killing enemies 'supercharges' your bullettime, slowing things down even further and making you even more dangerous. Recommended mods: Closer to Truth: Lobby edition Adds various 'gun-kata' moves, infinite bullettime, and some badass specal moves. Still very unfinished and unpolished, though. CINEMA MOD 2.0 Personal favorite here. Cinema gives you better bullettime with a faster regeneration, replaces the useless sawn-off shotgun with a colt Anaconda, and gives you several new weapons (single and dual Suppressed Berettas, dual MP5Ks (the MP5 was replaced with an MP5K), and a minigun). ____________________ "That's your 'ultimate attack'? I want to play Perfect Dark on my computer, but I don't have a gamepad (and using a joystick is a big no). Germany’s fightercraft dominate the battlefield. 1943: First aerospace fighter, the Black Kite, developed by Alison Keyborez; rushed into service by the American Air Force. 1945: End of World War II; Hitler captured and brought to trial; sentenced to life in prison. 1946: Hitler escapes prison, aided by his elite ‘Hammer of Dusk’ joint strike commandos. 1960: Theory of faster-than-light travel by use of multi-dimensional manipulation published. 1966: First sub-atomic particle and radiation shield (SAPRS) created; makes travel between planets much less dangerous. 1980: Mono-dimensional transistor invented, allowing instantaneous communication. 1990: First Faster-than-Light (FTL) ship built, named Polaris. 1995: Sightings of a habitable planet with possible life. 1996: First contact with the Kranath. The ‘Kranath’ were a cat-like race; although they where not as advanced as us in the way of space travel, they quickly outpaced us at genetic manipulation, cloning, and computer technology. Soon, a FTL transport fleet was in operation; going between planets was as easy as travel on the high seas. It is now 2014, and the alliance with the Kranath has stretched to the breaking point. The New Galactic Order has already taken complete control of the Fringe World Federation, and their next target might just be the Kranathian homeworld: Kranatha. There is a saying among the Kranathians: What lies behind us and lies before us are small matters compared to what lies right to our faces. Horrors have appeared that eclipse concentration camps, backed up by debate-stifling propaganda, elitism, and paranoia. This is what the NGO is, and it will not tolerate the ‘impure’. The Kranathian Systems Alliance will not stand for it, and the depths of hell seem closer than ever before… --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is Storm Burner? Storm Burner is a slightly steampunk-ish sci-fi. There are no lasers (Plasma cannons and pulse guns instead), and no hand-held energy weapons. Computers still have keyboards, trenchcoats are still badass, and... Well, I'll leave the surprise to be revealed a little later. In any case, high-octane action is included. Due to formatting issues, I'll be uploading chapters as word files and then posting links here. Promotional poster -A slightly movie-esq promo for those who need something to post somewhere. This is one hell of a free shoot-em-up. Then again, it wasn't always free. You start out as a terraforming pilot, Trent Hawkins, who gets thrust into the middle of an intergalactic war and is forced to blast his way to freedom with whatever he can find or buy... which range from simple civilian fighters to high-powered mercenary freemarket ships. There are dozens of upgradeable weapons to choose from, ranging from somewhat weak (vulcan gun) to uber-strong, such as the MegaCannon (shoots massive shots that do tunneling damage) and the Lightning gun (maximum level makes for a constant stream of high-damage lightning bolts). However, even that's not enough to save the known universe from hostile takeover; you can buy a pair of 'sidekicks', drone ships with unique properties - which range from simple blaster platforms to the powerful Zica Charger and the devastating battleship-class firebomb. Each 'chapter' is practically a game in and of itself, and there are four chapters... lots and lots of blasting stuff, and the story is surprisingly good. You'll probibly need DOSBox to run it properly, though. (Just a note: I got interested in this game after I played this game on an arcade machine. I think there might still be a few surviving arcade cabinets, but I don't know where they are if they still exist.) ____________________ "That's your 'ultimate attack'? Not per se a separate game (NetHack has been mentioned before), but Vulture's Eye and Vulture's Claw are isometric graphics versions of NetHack and SLASH'EM (Super Lotsa Added Stuff Hack - Extended Magic, one of the more popular mods for NetHack) respectively.
You can download it HERE; it's very nice if you can't stand NetHack's ASCII interface, although Vulture's Claw is a little rough around the edges. ____________________ "That's your 'ultimate attack'? Super anti spyware - One of the best spyware/malware/trogan/adware detection and removal tools I've ever used. It has saved my computer at least once (got a malware bomb hiding as a flash update, it wasn't pretty). There is a commercial version, but the free version works just as well (although it lacks auto-scanning).
Google Chrome - a free web browser from Google. I prefer Firefox, but this deserves to be mentioned anyway. ____________________ "That's your 'ultimate attack'?
