Forgot how I found Acmlm's, but I think it was when I'd just discovered ROM hacking. That was back in the olden days of the First Kingdom. Refused to leave during the second and third.

As for this one? Toxic PM'ed me. Which reminds me, who do I have to blow to get my banana republic back?

Just on the basis of consistency up and down the track list, you can't ignore The Sounds: "Living in America" or Idlewild: "100 Broken Windows". It's extremely rare that I'll find a CD that I'll listen to from start to finish.

Clockworkz: THANK YOU. I don't get how people can listen to video game music non-stop. Sure, there's some games with good scores (hay s^ anything in the Katamari Damacy series?) but, like, NSF's don't cut it.

Toxic: Wouldn't think to make the Desaparacidos/DK's connection. Lyrically, yeah, they do pretty much mine the same territory. COMPLETELY different, sound-wise, though. Nice point.

np: Sevendust: "Black"
Went out to a bar, someone put one of their songs on, reminded me how I like the song. For some reason, the guitar riff in the chorus reminds me of Eric Clapton's (yeah, yeah, all you want) "Run". They probably have the same chord change. Whatevar. Lyrically, it should be fairly obvious... it's all about Lajon Witherspoon's experiences with racism as a black guy singing in a hard rock band. And presumably elsewhere, considering the chorus: "I'm mindin' my own business/I ain't doin' nothin' wrong." The tremolo'ed guitar part that starts at the beginning (ya know, the choppy one) and runs through most of the song really helps out, as does the similarly-timed static through the choruses. Not very often you can pull it off in a song.

This thread fails without a description of "FISSION MAILED". Yeah, I saw it's in some game, but how do they propose that I send a nuclear reaction through the postal system?

Also, Mapquest fails harder than you for not being able to find Plainfield High School. Google Maps found the address. What's your damage, Mapquest? Hmmm?

...oh, right, it's not like anyone actually LIVES in eastern Connecticut, idn't that right?

#116. Mang, I never get any of the low numbers. (Which begs the question, what's with the low-number obsession in Rhode Island? Lookin' at you, Grey...)

I'll actually go out of my way to watch Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Intervention, MythBusters, Ego Trip's The (White) Rapper Show, Family Guy (when I think of it), and Good Eats (which I've downloaded thanks to the miracles of BitTorrent so I can pump out season sets). As for stuff I wish I was home to watch, House, the Office, My Name Is Earl, Scrubs, and if they showed it on a regular basis here, you could add Spaced to that list.

So this begs the question. Since there has to be a subtitle (it's in the bylaws):

* Acmlm's Board II: Electric Boogaloo
* Acmlm's Board II: Board Harder

Whose cuisine reigns supreme?

I live NEAR it. Kingston. BWAH. Though I generally stay out of Connecticut. I don't like it very much, for irrational reasons I can't be bothered to explain and have no justification for.

Well, if all you've seen is eastern CT, then you can hardly hold that against the other 99.9% of the state's population, right? Unless you have something against cows...

jay, don't get me wrong; Remxies are good, provided it's done well. Piano/violin arrangements are great, especially Dhsu's stuff.
Look him up on Google.

Yeah, I'm not here to rag on cover versions. Especially considering I downloaded both of The Advantage's albums.

I've been a sports reporter at a weekly newspaper for about two years now. If there's anything I've learned, it's that coaches shouldn't get busted for DWI.

Eh, don't bother posting to this thread. I already know the answer, and you, yes you, are gay. Know how I know? You have a rainbow bumper sticker on your car that says "I love it when balls are in my face".

Very, very short term:
* Get most of my stories done for work.

Longer term:
* Go through all my contacts for work and get them all punched into Outlook.
* Start selling off the games I don't need for my collection. Pare down my clothes as well.
* Start going to the gym on a more regular basis, namely 4x/week at least.
* Start cooking for myself again.
* Save up money. Possibly switch banks, but most definitely sign up for online bill payment and have it automatically pay my bills.

Very long term:
* Apply to jobs at daily papers.
* Move out.
* Learn another language. Most readily-available options are French (there's the three-CD system I copied from Deanna), Spanish (there's the podcast for that, as well as having Deanna teach me), and Japanese (because, well, I took a year of it in college).

So now that all 30 teams are a-campin' and actually playing games, I think it's high time we got this going. And even though it's from the Onion, this appears to be pretty much dead-on:

"If what we've heard is correct, then Matsuzaka indeed possesses a Power Level of well over 9,000," said ESPN's Peter Gammons, struggling to contain his excitement on Tuesday's edition of Baseball Tonight. "Over 9,000! Which, of course, is only to be expected of the ballplayer whom sources say descended into the Underworld to spit in the flaming eye of the Lord of Hell and steal the secret power of the Onikaze, or 'demon-storm' pitch, which tails away nicely from both lefties and righties."

I've never seen that game before, but it looks interesting...
It's Boulder Dash, I believe... It's a pretty good game, worth a download... it'd be nice to see some hacks for it.

I'd say "like mine?" but I don't have any idea where you'd go about seeing it...

Whoa, you look like you could kick some serious ass.

Just to let you know, that's Ian MacKaye on the left, of Minor Threat and Fugazi (two AWESOME bands).

drjayphd is a lucky guy to have met him

Thank you for clarifying. Yeah, I'm on the right. MacKaye played a couple of shows in CT with the Evens (his new post-Fugazi project with Amy Farina) and this was after the second one.
