Whoa!! Googie - YOU ARE DA MAN!! That title screen rocks!! By all means, let's use that one instead!! I actually had a similar idea to change the unused block graphics that originally formed "SUPER MARIO BROS." and use them for a border or something, but you beat me to it! I was also thinking that it might be easier for the sake of room to put the names of any people involved in the Readme... |

Well I was thinking that over because there might be more people to give credit to than there is free room on the title screen. In the Readme, you're not limited to space like in the ROM. Plus the sizes of contributions make a difference too. To be brutally honest, I haven't really done squat so far, so it wouldn't be fair to Googie and Insectduel who are both much more experienced in SMB1 hacking to include my name on the title screen with theirs. Like in many other similar scenarios, I was more like a motivator than anything else.
You'll probably have to ask Googie the best way to share files like the rest of us already took care of. Cool! Looking forward to the Koopas. I am in a good mood to get some ROM hacking done though. I started a new level section in Luigi's Chronicles 2 a couple of days ago, so I think I'm going to work on that for a bit. |

Well you do have a graphics editor like YY-CHR and/or Tile Layer Pro, correct? By the looks of it, it looks like the wings are from Banks 69 - 6C in the first of two sections of graphics, although my eyes could be playing tricks on me. Edit them from there.
Thanks for saying that. Okay... I was more like a beta tester than anything else. But yeah, I was glad to help with what I could. |

That video rocked! Here's the description for the video for those who were interested in reading it (I watched the video here and then jumped over to YouTube to fetch the description and I watched it again ).
Now I see what you meant when you said before that Ghettoyouth used DahrkDaiz's SMB3 TSA Editor on some of the graphics, one of the cases being that instead of the bricks being animated, the after-coin blocks are animated. I also love the new 1-5 - music/sounds, design, and all. The whole hack looks and sounds awesome so far! Keep up the excellent work, Googie buddy! I finished up that level that I started a couple of days ago in Luigi's Chronicles 2. I was questioning whether or not I wanted to make a new preview video, but with that stuff going on over at YouTube lately I'm not really motivated to actually log in or do anything really, so maybe I'll post some screenshots instead. EDIT: Here we go! The first screenshot is of an underground scrolling area. You arrive there from and will resurface at the Quicksand level. It will be in World 2. The other screenshots are of the level that I just finished today. The first part of the level is a Giant-based area, and the connecting underground area is sort of like a maze that obviously isn't very hard to figure out, but hopefully it's fun. That level will be in World 4. |

The lightning bolt, fortress tile, and underwater ground tile sound like they shouldn't be too difficult. You were wondering what you should do next, so maybe those things could be easy things to do and check off. |

Posted by Mariofan0I was actually thinking the same thing while I was first posting the screenshots. I didn't alter the palette yet, so realize that that's the original palette. I'm thinking of maybe changing the level header to make the underground area load the same red palette as the scrolling underground area instead. However, also realize that it looks brighter in the screenshots than it actually did in the emulator. As for the level design of Mario's Destiny seeming rather difficult to play, I disagree. I didn't see any levels that were overly difficult. Also, what's wrong with difficult level design? Why would levels have to be easy for you to want to play them? You need to make levels fun, but they also need to be challenging. There are the cases when easy levels are not fun. Anyway, I felt that Ghettoyouth and Googie did an excellent job on Mario's Destiny so far. The only thing that I could actually see that probably needs fixing is the Goomba's Shoe being placed near the end of the level and really only being used once (which questions why it's even there at all), and also causing a graphical glitch when conflicting with the Boomerang Brother at the very end. EDIT: Okay, I quickly made up some images of the underground area with the other default palettes. Which palette do you think works best with the level? As for those who might ask, "Why not just make a custom palette/change the default palettes?", Googie and I have not really discussed what different palettes, other graphics, etc. we would want to do. I personally prefer to finish editing the levels first anyway. So here are some new images. Remember that I have not changed these palettes from what they already were. If they are somehow different, they were like that when Googie first gave me a copy of the hack. Palette 0 Palette 1 Palette 2 Palette 3 Palette 4 Palette 5 Palette 6 Also just showing Palette 7 again... I actually do like Palette 3 myself. Maybe a change was needed. Of course, in the final stages of editing, Googie and I might change the palettes anyway. We'll just have to wait and see. |

Posted by StarkWhat - because I posted in that topic of yours and wished you well, only to have you insult me unjustly? Most of my posts from April 16 were in NutheadBros' SMB hack topic. We're discussing ROM hacking, which is supposedly this board's primary focus. So tell me - what exactly was this "spam"? I'm not trying to start anything either because I don't like problems. I just don't see how this is a fair call, especially considering how right after that series of posts in your topic, my profile was unjustly edited to a bunch of crap. I also don't see how your posts for that day get counted, but NONE of mine do. If you don't want to count those 3 posts from your topic, then whatever - but why do none of my other posts, especially the ones in our discussion of ROM hacking count? |

Posted by AquamanciaYes, but "READ" was repeated first, so "BREAD" started the new chain and was therefore technically not a repeated word. This WEEK is going by too fast. |

Posted by StarkActually, as I just pointed out, "READ" was repeated first, which started a new chain with you saying "BREAD". Since you used "REED" in the previous chain, when Bukkarooo used "REED", it was not a repeated word. Plus even if starting a new chain was valid, using a word with more than five letters is not. Posted by pieguy1732Plus before anyone tries to say otherwise, Marzen's "READ" is not a repeated word either. However, since the last word that was actually valid was my "SEEK", I think it's best that we continue from there (you cannot get from "SEEK" to "READ" by changing only one letter). So you SEE? Everything is worked out now. P.S. DENIED!!!! |

Well it's been a few days, buddy. I see you edited your last post to say that the Fortress Tile is made. We'll look forward to when you upload it so we can see its new appearance. Do you have any further updates? |

Posted by KP9000Well I guess Palette 7 is out of the question then since no one seems to like it - even though it was the palette used for the original 6-9, which is the edited area shown in the above images. You make an interesting point about Palettes 0-2 - I didn't really like them myself because like you said they look odd for an underground level, but I like your idea of maybe using them for a secret level! I'm currently editing 6-4 which I'm planning to connect to a bonus area which I was planning to make an underground level - perhaps one of those "odd" palettes should be used! Palette 4 doesn't seem bright to me, and I do agree that it is one of the better default underground palettes. I actually did already set the edited 6-9 to use Palette 3 though, as I did come to like it better than Palette 7. What's wrong with Palette 3? I kept Palette 5 for the edited 4-3 area (the underground scrolling area) so I felt that Palette 3 would help to mix it up a bit. Like it was mentioned earlier though, I still need to talk to Googie about maybe changing the palettes and/or other little things. Over the last few days, I finished editing World 4 and I'm halfway through editing World 6. After that, there'll only be World 8 left to edit and then my half of Luigi's Chronicles 2 will be done. However, that's when I got to thinking. Googie's currently working on Mario's Destiny, and he's also got a couple other SMB3 hacks that need a lot of level editing to be completed. It would be evil for me to throw Luigi's Chronicles 2 back at him for Worlds 3, 5, and 7 to be finished (since our original plan was for each of us to edit four Worlds). I was thinking of maybe asking him if I could edit some more levels after I'm done with my four Worlds to help him lighten his load. Since I didn't contribute to any of the graphics (they were already done up to the point they are at before Googie gave me a copy of the hack) it might be cool for me to edit more of the levels than for just four Worlds. I guess we're due for another chat. Also, thanks for your interest and input, KP. I really appreciate your opinions for the default underground palettes. Best of luck with your SMB3 hack! Get that first World done already! Hee hee! As for your question, I've tried to edit other underground palettes in SMB3 Workshop before and it hasn't worked for me either. I'll try to look into it more when I have the time... Posted by StufidThanks a million for that awesome comment, Stufid! I really appreciate that. You rock! Hopefully Luigi's Chronicles 2 - and Quick Bros. 2 - will be done soon. |

Posted by MarzenThat's what I just said. Also, you cannot get from "SEE" to "LEEK" by changing only one letter either. What the crap is going on here? It would SEEM that no one knows how to play this game correctly. EDIT: Also, I believe you meant to spell it as "LEAK" in the way that you used it. "LEEK" is a kind of vegetable... unless that is actually what you wanted to take... |

Posted by StarkWhy did you have to use "SCRUB"? There was no reason why we couldn't continue from "SEEM". There was no need to start a new chain... Wow. Everyone seems to hate each other. Please, can we all just get along? This is a game, after all. It's supposed to be fun. SLUB. |
