Fuck yes!! Thanks a lot, ThanatosZero! That's exactly what I had in mind!! Granted, I would've preferred Grampa Ulrira in the same angle at least as Link's Awakening, but you did a kickass job. I really didn't specify the angle I wanted, yet you totally nailed the A Link to the Past style with how you sprited it. I'm friggin' amazed! I never doubted!
Now, I don't need an assload of sprites for my hack, but you definitely got the idea right off the bat of what I need. Would you be inclined to accept an invitation as the main spriter for my hack? I don't need much, probably a dozen or so sprites. Since I have to figure out how the sprites are animated in the rom, I could probably animate whatever you can give me. You know, separate the head from the body and stuff (this is how I believe the sprites are animated in the rom - they're seperated by body parts). If you have enough free time to help me I would greatly appreciate it. I want my hack to kick a lot of ass. And to be able to put in some custom sprites of that caliber would really give a nice edge to my project. Once again, thanks a lot for the Ulrira! ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Fucking sweet! Exactly what I wanted! You even put the body parts apart so that it'll be easier for import! Righteous! Amazing! I'm dying to see what else you come up with for me! I hope you're bored more often!
P.S. By the way, sorry for the late post. I was having some troubles logging into the board. ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

UPDATE:
Thanatos-Zero joined my project as a spriter. I'm amazed with what he did with Grandpa Ulrira. If you haven't already seen the sprite in his sprite thread, here it is for all to see: If Thanatos-Zero continues spriting for the project this will be more or less the style you'll see. I hope you all can see the direction my hack is heading in. Hopefully, with what MathOnNapkins is going to do with his BlackMagic editor, we'll all be able to do a lot with sprites and graphix. So this is just the beginning! I'm real excited with all the progress that's been coming along. If ThanatosZero sprites anything new I'm sure he'll post it in his thread. I'll also be sure to post them here, as well! As always, thanks for the attention. ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Sure! Do what you gotta do! before I insert them into the ROM I have to see what I replace. So go ahead! Let me know when you're done! I might change some useless NPC into Ulrira, because he just basically doesn't tell you anything. Just to call him from a phone. So I'll probably change the fortune tellers into phone booths. But the Ulrira per se, yes! Right on! I think I know who I'll change him into. It's gotta be a sprite that's animated constantly.
Either way, when MathOnNapkins finishes BlackMagic I might be able to create new characters altogether and not have to sacrifice NPCs. So I hope to really make this hack the shizznit! ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

No prob! I love how it's coming about! As soon as you're satisfied enough, let me know and I'll present it to the world wherever I present screenshots, resources, etc for my hack. Once again, it's coming out fine and dandy! Thanks! Can't wait to see the other stuff you'll sprite! ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Posted by bradzx Parallel Worlds took years to complete with a team of pros. 'Nuff said. I just hope I can get this done in like 3-5 years or so - and that's dreaming. I know that as soon as MathOnNapkins finishes his Zelda3 editor, hacking this ROM will be much more easier and that might shave off some time. Thanks for your interest! ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Hey, guys. I just got a hold of a Link's Awakening DX editor, called ZLADE. From what I can tell, it edits the Overworld, Rooms, and Dungeons. Editing sprites is easy enough, but I was wondering if anyone here knows about any tools for editing events, and most importantly - text.
As most of you already know, I'm working on a Zelda3 hack. I'm in the process of waiting anxiously for MathOnNapkins' editor, Black Magic. This editor will blow open the door for Zelda3 hacking. So, in the mean time, I'm burning some free time on probably making a decent Zelda4 hack. Some of the events I'm talking about are (for instance), where the Mouse takes the photographs, and where in-game events occur - like all of the Marin events, accessing Angler's Tunnel, etc. I can probably program around these things, but what I really want to edit is text. Anybody know anything or is this editor not as obscure as I think? ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

I'm back from my slumber!! Almost 300 days of hiatus! Hi, y'all!
Sorry for my absence, but I went through a downward spiral worthy of a mockumentary. Too many problems in my personal life. I even went hermit. Didn't connect myself to the internet for almost a whole year. But now I'm back! Regrettably, the forum I promote in my sig is no longer up. I have to contact MathOnNapkins to see what happened. Now, I'm back on my game and in focus. I hope to bring this project up to speed soon. I have Xmas vacation to work on some stuff. So I'm gonna dust off my notes and my codes and get back into it! Thanks to everyone who supported my project in the beginning! I hope to bring something new soon! @icheatatgolf: Yes! I am very interested in what you did with the TalTal Heights track! Unfortunately, youtube took down the video. So if you have any other way of showing me, I'm all ears! ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Look for Orochimaru's Guide to Zelda3 Rom Hacking. Everything you could want to know about using Hyrule Magic is there.
As for passing the info from one file to another, I wouldn't know exactly what's wrong. If the rom got corrupt and then you exported the grafix, maybe the graphix got compromised because of the corruption. If you can still open the original rom with HM, I suggest mapping out the changed you made and start them from scratch with a new rom. I know that that's probably not the answer you wanted, but HM is a pain in the ass to use. I've had to completely redo a lot of things a lot of times. Sorry if my answer wasn't that helpful, but that guide I told you about tells you how to import/export graphix with HM. You need other programs as well (which I highly recommend), like zcompress (needed to import and export the graphix directly into the rom) and any graphix editor of your choosing. ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Wow, who would stoop that low to post the same crock in a different site and with higher caliber hackers? That's just begging to be flamed. This is just trolling in my book. Just ignore it, guys. Don't get worked up. It's probably just some kid trying to see if his photoshop skills are good enough to fool experienced, hardcore SNES hackers. He didn't not just go through the trouble of making a decent image edit (I've seen pictures of "Big Foot" more convincing than this) but he didn't even reupload the image in photobucket in order to be able to use a different name. But the link has gnk in it. What an epic fail, indeed! Thanks for the roflmaos! ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Most of the time when that happens, the ROM gets corrupt. If you change the palette being used in the rooms and they still show up glitchy, you're gonna have to start with a fresh ROM. Sorry, bro. ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Posted by puzzledude I've seen that bug before. The way to fix it is incredibly simple. You're using stairs used from the swamp dungeon (where you get the hookshot). Those stairs are used for that kind of puzzle. You want normal stairs. I suggest looking at normal stairs in a normal dungeon that does not use water. Check its ID (the number that represents that chip in the set). When you go to place a set of stairs, just make sure that you use the stairs with the correct ID. ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |

Willkommen! It's always nice to see a fellow Zelda3 hacker come around with a promising project!

I prefer the first tree (A); the skinnier trunk is a bit cartoony. The first one looks much better than the second one. As for your graphix problems, I think I recall someone else having that same problem in the board. I know that SePh made some custom palm trees for a hack he was working on. Maybe he can help you out. ____________________ MathOnNapkins' Zelda 3 (ALttP) Hacking Forum on Arc-Nova: http://arc-nova.org/forum/index.php?board=7.0 |
