Hey, those actually don't suck, which is rare for a YI hack, so take that as a compliment. A couple screenshots are devoid of enemies and look rather boring, but in general, not bad. The pinkish FG palette on screens 5 and 6 looks bad though - I recommend changing it to something more pleasing to the eyes.

Good start.

Other than what has said, two other things pop to my head:

1. You may have an object sized incorrectly. Some objects can only be sized in the negative, verticall, or horizontally ONE tile. If done any other way, it will cause glitches.
2. You're putting objects on a cluster of screens which is corrupt. I remember one of my levels doing this, and I had to remove all of the objects from said screen and replace them with sprites.

If those aren't the problems, then it was probably a corruption with a certain area of the ROM. Trust me, it will only get worse as you continue on YI hacking.

Looks great ghettoyouth. The graphics are done perfectly too.

In other news:

What's supposed to happen once you get them to the grave stones? Does it just advance you through the stage?

Basically, yes. I'm trying to make it more interesting then just advancing by adding a couple special changes to the level itself. Of course, that will be kept a surprise.

Have you already finished the Staccato Jungle? I can't wait for the next demo of your hack, when it will be launched?

No, and sometime this month hopefully.

Considering the way objects and sprites are shown in Eggvine, I'm not surprised seeing how some screenshots looks rather flat.

Still, adding sprites is probably the easiest thing to do in EggVine. Type a name in the box, add, set the correct sprite set. If he did that, then your second point about a bad choice of screenshots comes into play.

Try lighting yourself on fire and see if it burns.

When you're done that, go beat I Wanna Be The Guy on Impossible blindfolded.

Good work - however, you never fixed that lowered octave I told you about in the Deku Palace theme. I'd suggest raising it and it would sound great.

You're going to use the same judging scale FP and I used at SMWC, right pieguy? As in, rate out of 10 per category, feedback, and then merge your scores into one big compilation? That seemed to work well.

As I said on SMWC, I'm very impressed with this tool. I've already played with it, and made a sample SPC here just so people can hear what it can truly do.

Unfortunately, it is possible to get carried away with this tool:

Recognize that horrible crying? Yes, it is in fact YI.

Also, I'd better finish that tutorial for this.

Oh that update is awesome. This will make it so much easier than searching through 150 extracted samples hoping to find one.

By the way, question. I know we have an "export bank" button, but is there any chance at just an "export sample" button? I was hoping to move something around in the original bank after I copied it to a new one. Ignore me. I just realized how ridiculous that must sound.

Tyty210: Now we can have the castle music with machine guns and xylophones D:

EDIT: I simply HAD to post this. Mario Paint!

...does this mean we will get tons of SMW hacks with mutilated samples now? XD

Heh, it would be fun. If you want to hear one I did that turned out good though, you can check this one out. It uses Super Castlevania 4's synth, imported from an SPC.

I guess I'll try making some more custom song, but with enhanced samples. Should be fun, heh.

EDIT: I finished writing a tutorial for this. You can find it here

Enjoy.

Haven't posted in months, but eh. Been learning Super FX, and figured I'd show something I've done, even though it's been up for a few weeks already.

I've actually put together a ROM map for Yoshi's Island, which you can find here. It's updated whenever I find time to work on the disassembly.

That's all.
