I have the knowledge to answer your question but unfortunately this is not the place to answer questions during a release thread that Alan Jacobs's SMB3 A New Journey has been made. Head over to General SMB3 Hacking Thread to ask all SMB3 related questions from there.

I've been reading the NEOぼろくず工房 page as of 12/30/2016. My reading translation from Japanese is not perfect. Near the final paragraph, PureSabe announced that he is going to release his new years hack of Rockman X on January 1st in between 12:15am and 12:45am in Japan time. That means in the USA it is December 31st probably around 1:15PM and 1:45PM.

Keep an eye on PureSabe's website folks.

It would be nice if I livestream the gameplay and talk about things but unfortunately for me I have a slow wifi meaning that I could not do a Twitch stream. Depsite PureSabe is the only known programmer that developed Rockman 4 MI for many years without any negative influences. You'll be saying what if the Mega Man/Rockman franchise is owned by Nintendo and not CAPCOM. CAPCOM never taken down fan projects since too many PC fan games and romhacks are floating around and CAPCOM actually hire devs to work on the official thing like with Street Fighter™ X Mega Man™.

Even the remakes or ports like Mega Man IV Plus or Rockman 7/8 FC series never taken down from their IP rights. The only games that prohibit from making from CAPCOM is commercial products like porting Mega Man 9 or 10 as a NES rom.

Expect a video upload on my YouTube channel soon around Tuesday since I'll be off the city. PureSabe, Dahrkdaiz, Infidelity or Koolboyman are the examples of being high tiers of coding, ASM and backwards engineering.

Wow someone has to dig for a 5 and a half-year old thread just to post a question based on an outdated editor.

I don't use Reuben much than SMB3 Workshop in which the the editor has more advanced technologies almost similar to Lunar Magic but Dahrkdaiz said that he'll release a new version of it which is way SOON.

I did have issues loading Reuben ROMs but for now I'd ignore it and didn't bother.

Has anyone made a good editor for any part of SMAS yet?

I wish there is! As for me I am good with SMB3SMAS romhacking and I been modifying the game for many years. SMB1SMAS or SMBTLL is the least.

There are editors for porting levels or editing completely from the ground up.

For SMB1 - It's SMB2SMC as in Super Mario Bros. (NES) to Super Mario Collection. I actually archive it to RHDN a long time ago to prevent it from being loss from the author.

For SMB2USA which is the LEAST of the romhacking community it is SMB2 Transmogrificator.

For SMB3 - It's SMB3 Workshop and your rom name must be Mario-X.smc. Currently incomplete support but I have the BALLS to create levels from the ground up and switching pointers. Does not work with SMAS + World or the Japanese version and must have the SNES rom header to load. The purpose of using SMB3 Workshop for SMAS is to view the level designs except the Bonus levels which some of them has 5-Bytes which is unusual and impossible to read the code data.

MushROMs was supposed to be build which is SMB1 & SMBTLL along with other 2 games, no official releases.

So yeah we definitely need a SMAS editor and it's the year 2017!

If anyone would like to hack SMB3SMAS, I suggest to learn to make levels from the NES version and know basic ASM 6502 or 65816 code. With the right documents I have written, you will master the mechanics and create many levels even with adding more rom space since SMAS in the SMB3 database has full of empty spaces to insert levels or enemies.

Don't worry! He's active on Facebook under the group name Pacnsacdave Hacks which is a Facebook group page for ROM-Hackers. I think there are personal issues along with it.

I don't know if I archived it, however what you saw is an EDIT of the original.

The Reimu Yuukari heads for Rockman 2 is a demo or whatever you call it is made by IKA around 2007. I made some changes before doing some YouTube videos such as importing Rockman Z songs which is also a Rockman 2 hack by Kuwata and changing the palettes. It is a dead project along with the author but like I said I don't know if I archived it.

Even if I found it, I will not release it. Sorry!

Something I've been doing with SMB3SMAS is to create my custom level for your entertainment. I would like to create a community where you share 1 custom level much like Super Mario Maker for SMB3 since you can share custom SMB3 levels with the .M3L file or the game rom if any changes to the game.

This is Master Spirit Temple, a KAIZO and puzzle based based level representing Spring Forward or Dayling Savings Time which is only in the US and affected countries. Here in the US, we change our clocks 1-hour forward tonight at 2AM. I have a lot of my SMB3 DST levels and kept them in my archives. Master Spirit Temple is now available for play so please DOWNLOAD from the Board 2 uploader.

Download

NOTE: Ignore that MSU-1 stuff, I didn't really implement the MSU-1 technology and no one made the MSU-1 for SMAS yet.

This person is not the only one, Kaze Emanuar is using Patreon to make more SM64 hacks in which Nintendo doesn't allow it because it is a violation of copyright and you know that Nintendo are the nazi's of the company that can take down fan works without warning. Kaze Emanuar's Patreon disappeared but I don't know the reason.

I even have a Patreon but I don't ask people for money to make romhacks/fangames or any other licensed IP's unless I am creating something original.

Mega man X 2 hack in progress

Any Mega Man X fan project is better than nothing, I am hoping Corrupted from JKB games is finished soon, otherwise playing a Mega Man X2 romhack feels like I am playing a PC fan game.

The Mega Man X fan gaming community needs a good Mega Man X fan project.

Who's next SMW Central? I guess it's time for me to close the doors too even though I hack SMB3SMAS for years. I have to remove all Nintendo related romhacks off my site around next week.

What happens if Nintendo catches you for doing this and ending up getting a C & D? Nintendo is one of the companies that can take down any kind of fan service works for copyright infringement by using their intellectual property.

Unlike SEGA of course!

I am aware about SMB1 ported on Sega Genesis but how does Nintendo responded to that.

It's not physical roms I'm uploading, they are patched with different values to alter itself from it's original state.

It doesn't matter if is Physical or a Patch. Pokémon Prism was shut down by Nintendo before the release of the XDelta patch before Christmas 2016.

It would've happened by now, C&D's handed down to sites like Acmlm or Romhacking.net. I'm flattered and honored that people think my work is on par, with Nintendo paying notice and would threaten me, but my work doesn't compare to some of the far better rom hackers out there, that would've easily been handed C&D's loooooong ago before I ever started contributing to the rom hacking community.

100% true! Don't forget SMW Central is been there for a really long time and didn't receive a single copyright notice and it's pretty much in the gray area.

I want to add that I haven't heard any infringements against bootlegs and reproduction carts so that's in the gray area depending which IP's you're using. Pokémon has made into bootlegs on the famicom or other consoles and didn't have a single copyright notice from Nintendo? I would imagine if someone like Nintendo can cease a developer making reproduction cartridges based on their IP.

Not to go completely offtopic but the reason, or one of them, why Pokemon Prism was shut down is cause they took graphics from newer released Nintendo games from what I heard.

The video trailers of the game hosted on YouTube caught Nintendo attention which is why the developer ended up with a C & D notice. Fan made trailer or not Nintendo is taking legal actions no matter what.

Also yes, the graphics from the newer generations infringes the copyright.

If Mega Man III was a base, then why not re-draw him to make it like the official ones from CAPCOM.

I have thought about doing Roll-Chan with Mega Man III using Capcom Sprite Assember but how much worth of tile space does Bass uses especially without making the game flickering? Note that Shadow Blade can fire in 6 directions so there is a possibly about turning the shadow blade into the enemy projectile shot along with the Needle Cannon rapid fire thingy. That is my suggestion, not an idea.

My answer is NO because you are making a game using Zelda characters. Doing a Zelda Remake is fine just don't use Zelda characters. If you're making a game based on IP from scratch and different than any other games aren't similar to their titles then you are most likely get a C & D.

Well as long as he put new graphics, new music, etc then it wouldn't be as bad as Big N would know.

Exactly! Remember that RetroRain is making a homebrew (games making from scratch) not a romhack which is different genre. I am okay with Mega Man though since there are no negative influences.

Not to mention there is a PC fan game called Mega Man DOS remake. I never completed my play through but the game is somewhat hard. Imagine if there's a sequel to DOS remake called Mega Man DOS remake 2 but with official CAPCOM designs such as DOS Wave Man to MM5 Wave Man. It would be nice for a 16-Bit project of mine.
