Come to think of it @Chaobomr. That's true! I guess SMB2USA characters uses colored outlines on their own but when it comes to Megaman standards, I have to go by it. Let's say if I want Roll's outline to be green while the ribbon is attached which is NOT exactly those Megaman games had. That includes weapon bars, weapon capsules, E-Tanks, and 1-UPS will also get green outlines.

The GOOD thing for colored outlines is to go on black screens which can easily tell them apart.

Now I have bigger problems and now I forgot that Megaman IV uses paired sprites which I have to figure out how to do this after I relocate the data into an empty space.

When it says Paired with "Tile hex number" it has to be auto-checked and I dunno how it work.

Question after question. How does the game control the Giant Metool mini-boss fights in MM3? I would like to take the second Giant Metool from Needle Doc stage to Needle Man stage.


Isn't a sprite attached to the Giant Metool background? I suggest to take a look at Doc Needle and try to copy what's in it and place it in exact ordering.

Hey Insectduel, I think it is better to edit Roll to proper propotions, so her size will not to make her flicker.

Take this as the base.


You might as well remove the green hairband and frankenstein her head on Megaman's sprite.



I appreciate the efforts Thantos but Zynk already had his own Roll Chan in place. In fact, he is currently making one for Megaman 3. But out of curiosity, I am going to try yours to see if she fits.

Well, the problem is, though, that InsectDuel wants to use the Mobile Roll sprites and nothing else, kinda like a prove of concept.


Correct, but Megaman 4 is a lot harder since the sprites are paired than other games and I may consider creating one for MM2 and MM5 as well. The mobile Roll project is still on to see the result once completed.

This is the progress of Roll Chan mobile so far. By the way, the base rom is the Japanese Rockman 4 rom. During testing mode, you can't lose lives and you can't inflict damage and no cheats are enabled. Codes are NOP'ed during the video. And yes, I inserted Mega Man 3 music since I started music hacking a bit on my own.

Flickering is still a problem but you can enable more than 8 sprites on FCEU X and NEStopia emulators. By the way, emulation speed is 50FPS, not 60FPS for quality assurance.

There is a problem, I am out of tile space so there's no way of completing it. Expanding the ROM is necessary but I am not going to do it. Is there any unused CHR in Rockman 4 without ROM expansion? I already knew there's a MMC5 patch from PureSabe's website.

The rest of Roll Chan mobile tiles should be programmed manually according to her frame action whenever she jumps, taking hits, and climbing since I stuided Matrixz's Mega Man Forever, which is now dead.

Well, Insectduel, I cannot say I'm anything less than impressed by your progress with this.


It needs more tiles in order to be complete so I am out of room unless expanded or unused CHR. Jumping, climbing and taking hits are the only ones left AND to program the CHR pages by sprite frame. Sliding will be disabled or leave the sliding with Megaman's tiles. This project will be passed on to anyone who's interested in Roll Chan mobile once it's finished.

Can't Find Offset Hex Color using TFG's NES Palette Editor not FceUX's Hex Editor.


Didn't you just type in those numbers. There are high odds but there can only be 1 altogether. Retype the hex numbers via Hex Search and there should be a ROM OFFSEt with those colors.

A NES Palette Editor is just a standalone hex editor but with hex numbers in NES palette format so just download another one. WindHex and my favorite Translhextion are the best hex editors I use.

MegaFLE X not support Japanese version of Rockman 3~6.


It does work on Rockman games and I tried it! Except it doesn't support Title Screens, Stage Select, etc which is a different bank and ROM Offset.

If you have trouble running the MegaFLE X editor, click Run as Adminstrator which USUALLY works.

Matrixz's CSA editor also works on Rockman games which is the Rockman 4 ROM I tried to do the Roll Chan mobile project.

Music for entertainment only, not the project!

Demonstration of Roll Chan from Rockman Mobile which is a Rockman 1 game played on your cell phone. Sprites are directly inserted from Sprites INC. I copied the palette sets what is shown on the Rockman mobile Roll gameplay YouTube video.

This is ONLY the sample version. I am NOT attempt to finish this but will give an updated sample and I need to figure out how to overlay the tile health bar. It's somewhere in the x7D200's. You can try it out for yourself.

If anyone interested for this project which has the green ribbon, you can download it and feel free to do it. It is recommended to expand the ROM to 1,024KB and MMC5 mapper since it's very impossible to store every Roll Chan's tiles and impossible to prevent sprite flicker with my low programming knowledge. CHR Setup for sprites should read up to 512 which gives Roll Chan mobile an advantage as well as some overlay sprites that includes E-Tanks, 1UPS (Head), teleportations, and weapon capsules.

Currently for non expanded roms, turn on more than 8 sprites per scanline on your NES emulator.

I am going to finish the standard NES version of Roll Chan mobile with the red ribbon and without sprite overlays. I am still getting ready to create the 2nd set of her tiles.

@MikeTechno There is a reason why Matrixz's CSA editor exists. The CSA allows tiles to position the X and Y units to connect them. I am very aware about frame animations and usually I start from the feet of her tiles. Speaking of feet, I should move Roll (Standing pose) 1 pixel right so she wouldn't be floating on edges. I already noticed it while testing.

NES Roll Chan mobile is much harder than the fangames which is my greatest challenge of romhacking.

@Korxroa Did you code the Ring Boomerang on your own or did you stole some reading code from Rm4MI. Just curious?

Okay I got the map, how do I know which dungeon is which? it's not like I can move the cursor to go to the skull to check which dungeon I need to go to.


There are skulls on the map that indicates the dungeon but each dungeon requires items to get through. It's much like in traditional Zelda 3 games.

Infidelity, you did an amazing job on this! Although it's on the beta stages and hopefully the game should be bug-free.

The Roll Chan mobile project for MM1/RM1 will come in sometime based on the vanilla upgrade patch but there is a problem. There isn't a sprite assembler editor for Mega Man 1. Someday this project will copy everything from Rockman mobile. Sadly, Roll's only weapon is her buster cannon with the exception of her unused carrying gutsblocks.

My favorite childhood game, Mega Man IV before I found out of Japanese counterparts.

Puresabe of Neoぼろくず工房 has updated Rockman 4 MI with better features. The latest version is 0.97.

I would like to know is how an Arcade port of the game to famicom, then Tengen brought it to America with an agreement from Namco turn into a Perfect Dark game? That's a pretty interesting concept and it's addicting too.

Wow, we are still beta-testing your product! I hope it's bug free or add more features to this great game. I've still haven't finished the original game and I am up to the 6th dungeon on the 1st quest.



If you don't already know, there is an unlicensed game created by the Christian Gaming Company called Wisdom Tree that uses The Legend of Zelda engine on the NES, then ported to Sega Genesis. The Spiritual Warfare did use a few original ideas such as bible questions when you touch an AHEM... fairy. The music sucks and has 7 of them. But nothing as close as Zelda - The Legend of Link which looks like a completely different Zelda game on the NES and is one of the best kickass games ever made.

SatoshiMatrix I really like idea, if you do attempt to create a reproduction cart of infidelity's game when is fully functional without crashes or glitches during gameplay you should send a copy of that cart to AVGN on Cinemassacre. I would love to see what James Rolfe and Mike Matei thinks.

Time for Phase 2 of the Roll Chan 4 mobile project. All of Roll Chan mobile's frames are created including her exclusive sliding ability from Rockman 7FC. I did found some free space and place it there and move other graphics using MegaFLE X. Question is, where is Roll Chan mobile's throwing sprite while she jumps and climbs so I had to create my own.

The only thing to do is to program the code to make Roll Chan mobile load the tile page while she jumps, climbs, and slides. It takes all 256 tiles to create every frame than the original 128.
